The Apolonion Asterias presents itself as a 5-star hotel, but the services unfortunately do not match that standard. The biggest disappointment is the catering. The dining room feels like a canteen, the food selection is on par with a 3-star hotel, the juices are made from powder, and the water for tea has a distinct iodine smell. The breakfast coffee is worse than the capsule machine in the room, and there is a bizarre preference for paper cups—having just two ceramic cups on a table for four people is simply unacceptable. The A la Carte restaurant offers an uninspired fixed menu of 5 main courses that you have to select well in advance. The entertainment and facilities also fell short. Evening programs are pure low-cost entertainment (such as karaoke or a 2-man band), and the masseuses in the wellness center seemed quite inexperienced. On top of that, there is a prominent cigarette smell coming from the AC, the Wi-Fi signal is very weak, and the natural lawns in the resort complex have been replaced with cheap-looking artificial plastic turf. The hotel also lacks its own beach—the nearest public beach is a 10-minute walk away, sunbeds are paid, and the location is far from the main part of the island. On a positive note, the staff deserves huge praise—everyone was incredibly pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. The accommodation in the Junior Suite was also very good, spacious, and up to a 5-star standard. However, overall feeling, the poor management and low-end catering unfortunately drag the whole experience down.

7 night all inclusive stay. The entire complex is beautifully clean and very well maintained. Toilets were immaculate everywhere. Staff were friendly and helpful. I felt food was good quality and value for the price I paid. Pools were good. Waterpark is brilliant and very well maintained. Everywhere is always clean. Staff were always cleaning or tidying up. My only complaint really would be location of our room, directly above the pool bar, with my 6yr old daughter. Music was loud till midnight pretty much every night. Id recommend coming here, child friendly and we felt safe the entire time.

We have just returned from a wonderful 12-night stay at Apollonion Asterias and honestly had an amazing holiday. The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful, with stunning landscaping that is clearly very well maintained. Everything was spotlessly clean throughout our stay, and the staff were always friendly, accommodating, and happy to help. One of the standout aspects of our stay was how well the hotel catered for my coeliac disease. After mentioning it at reception, I was advised to speak to one of the chefs, and from then on Niko went above and beyond every single evening. He personally walked me around the buffet, explaining exactly what I could and couldn’t eat, and even prepared bespoke gluten-free pasta dishes for me on several occasions. It made such a difference to be able to relax and enjoy my meals without worrying. The only area that could be improved is the dessert selection for gluten-free guests. Some evenings there were very limited options, although there was always fresh fruit available. The ice cream is also labelled as “may contain gluten”, so I avoided it. Niko was sometimes able to bring gluten-free desserts from the kitchen, which was greatly appreciated, but this wasn’t always possible. Don, who works in the main buffet restaurant, was one of the loveliest people we’ve ever met on holiday. He was incredible with our little girl, who looked forward to seeing him every day. We stayed in one of the Apollonion rooms and were really impressed by how spacious it was, even with a travel cot in the room. The balcony was huge and provided plenty of space to relax. The food offered a good variety every night, drinks were very reasonably priced, and food at La Pergola was excellent value for money. The evening mini disco was absolutely fantastic every night and became a real highlight for our little girl. The outdoor play area was great, and the water park was brilliant, especially with the complimentary drinks available there. A special mention also goes to Andrianna at the Apollonion pool bar, who was always so lovely and welcoming in the evenings. Outside the hotel, there’s a lovely shop and family-run restaurant just a short walk away (turn left out of the hotel). There were only a few minor negatives. The water park doesn’t open until 10:30am, which felt a little late for young children eager to get started. Our cleaner unfortunately walked straight into our room twice while our daughter was still sleeping, which was frustrating, and some “Do Not Disturb” signs would be a useful addition. We also found check-in a little chaotic due to the number of guests arriving and the limited reception desks available. Finally, there could be more outdoor seating available around the buffet restaurant during busy periods. Overall, these were very minor issues in what was otherwise a fantastic holiday. The beautiful hotel, excellent facilities, wonderful staff, and exceptional service from people like Niko, Andrianna, and Don made this a truly memorable stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and would happily recommend Apollonion Asterias to families looking for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday in Kefalonia

Currently staying at the Resort and i have to say that i'm split in two worlds. The resort and the rooms are simply amazing. The location of the resort is not ideal for tourists, but the resort makes it worth the travel. BUT, where the location of the resort couldn't trouble us, taking into account the amazing quality of the resort, the food and drinks are definetally ruining our experience. The coffee at the bars is really bad, we are sticking to the coffee we get offered at our rooms as the Nespresso cups are far more better than the coffee made in the bars. At the bars they are serving pre-made cocktails that taste very sub standard, which i wouldn't expect from a 5* Resort, proudly showcasing their quality awards in every corner of the resort. But the food takes the price.. We are here 6 days and so far we had Greek Cuisine ones. The rest of the days it's the same pasta dishes, Burgers, Pork meat that isn't trimmed and grilled chicken, including every part of the chicken, even the neck. Full with tiny bones with no warning what so ever, which is causing a potentialy health risk to every guest, but especially the children. Plates are not being washed properly, so on the bottom of the plate are leftovers from the previous shift, small things that could be avoided or improved, but the Quality as you would expect from the awards is not in the food and drinks. A real shame. Wish they would serve the customer the quality they would deserve and expect from a 5* resort, especially since the resort itself shows a complete different reality than that you will find on your plate or in your glass.

We went here on our honeymoon. Not really for couples, mainly for families. Beautiful looking hotel and very romantic looking. Swimming pool closed quite early, only open until 6pm. Should have more stuff to do for couples and more separation between adult areas and kid areas. Xi beach is nice but in order to get to the nice part you have to walk through the small cave in the water. Not much around the hotel within walking distance. Buffet is not the best, hygiene really poor for a 5 star hotel. Also not really clear how it works and not much guidance given. We paid for half board but ended up eating elsewhere most nights. Main improvements: have an adults only area on the resort that is tightly managed, maybe have a evening swim session between 6pm and 8pm for adults only, improve the hygiene and quality of the food, and give more guidance to guests with the buffet.
