Definitely Not a 5-Star Hotel — 5-Star Prices for a 3-Star Experience Unfortunately, Baia di Chia was an extremely disappointing experience. This hotel charges 5-star prices, but in our experience the standard is, at best, that of a 3-star hotel. I want to start with the positives. The location is beautiful, and there are some genuinely lovely members of staff. In particular, Alyssa, Ummy, Andrea and Tomaso were wonderful and deserve to be recognised. Sadly, beyond the location and these members of staff, almost everything else fell significantly below the standard we expected. The biggest issue was the cleanliness of our room. The floors were not cleaned properly, there was visible dust, and we had ants all over our room every single day. This was not an occasional ant wandering in—we repeatedly had ants in the room throughout our stay. When we raised this with the Operations Manager, we were told that the hotel is located in a nature reserve and therefore ants are to be expected. I found this response extraordinary. Being located in a nature reserve does not explain why floors are not properly cleaned or why there is dust throughout a guest room. At a hotel presenting itself as a 5-star property, basic cleanliness should not even need to be discussed. There were also maintenance and safety issues. The door stopper in our room had come out of the floor, leaving a large nail exposed. This is an obvious health and safety hazard and again completely unacceptable for a hotel claiming this standard. Even the most basic requests were handled poorly. We asked for an extra blanket and waited four hours for it to arrive. When it finally did arrive, it was provided without a proper cover on it. Waiting four hours for such a simple request is bad enough, but receiving a bare blanket without a cover is certainly not the level of housekeeping or service anyone would associate with a 5-star hotel. The room itself was also incredibly underwhelming. It was small, there wasn’t even a proper table or sufficient space to put our belongings, and the furniture felt cheap and basic. Nothing about the room felt luxurious or remotely reflective of the prices being charged. We have stayed at Hilton properties all over the world, and I can genuinely say that we have never experienced this level of poor cleanliness at a Hilton-branded hotel. Then there is the buggy service. Because of the layout of the resort and the long uphill walk to the rooms, guests rely on the buggy service. On one occasion, we repeatedly called for a buggy and nobody even answered the phone. If you operate a resort where guests are dependent on transportation to comfortably move around the property, simply not answering is unacceptable. What is perhaps most disappointing is that after our experience, I went back and read other guest reviews and realised that many of these complaints appear to be recurring issues. That makes the situation even harder to understand. If management is aware that guests are repeatedly raising similar concerns, why haven’t they been properly addressed? When concerns were raised with the Operations Manager, we were thanked and told they would be investigated, but the responses felt completely inadequate given the seriousness and recurring nature of the problems. There is an enormous difference between having a beautiful location and providing a genuine 5-star hotel experience. A stunning setting cannot compensate for dirty rooms, ants, poor maintenance, painfully slow service, inadequate transportation and basic furnishings. For the prices Baia di Chia charges and the way the property is positioned, guests are entitled to expect considerably more. In its current state, I simply cannot understand how this can reasonably be considered a 5-star experience. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Baia di Chia has a beautiful setting and some excellent individual members of staff, but there is a great deal of work to be done before the hotel delivers anything close to the 5-star experience its prices suggest.

This place is amazing. The concept of having “small cottages” craved in the mountains close to the sea is just amazing. And having a hotel just few walks away from the beach is a plus. Now, the hotel is big and you need a club car to go around. You need a phone to contact the receptionist but my phone was not working and couldn’t be working throughout my stay (they tried but they couldn’t fix it). A recurrent complain from here. My second disappointment was the breakfast. First of all, even having aircon, but keeping it off in a morning that is already 33/34oC which is quite unpleasant. The options of the breakfast are so poor! You go to a paradise like this and you have just three fruits available? Two cheeses? You go to Curio in Ibiza and there are plenty of options and that what you expect for a brand like that. The breakfast of this place is similar to budget hotels like Ibis. Quite disappointing.

One of most beautiful locations in Sardinia. Rooted in nature and part of the wider Chia Laguna Resort - so many activities on offer. Ginepro the restaurant is outstanding - Italian Asian fusion done to perfection. The most incredible scenic views ever. Recommend buying the Chia Passport (full board) for a great dine around experience…

What a wonderful nice staff this property has. They really stand out from any other property we been to! We got a ton of recommendations from the staff that is local that we may not have found on our own. The entire staff we interacted here made our stay so much better. We loved that this is an all in one place, meaning the hotel has its own beaches with sectioned off chairs with a lot is space and beach service along with a really big pool, restaurants and shops, pharmacy and bars are on the other side of the sister property. Overall, The property is huge so you need to get around by golf cart to and from your room (nice exercise if you opt out) but, it makes your stay feel very private with the villas very spread out and the peacefulness around your room. In room dining was impressive, dishes felt high end and the service was stellar. They clean up the trays fast when you leave it outside. Rooms are very spacious, clean and intimate. The views! Beautiful from day to night and gorgeous flowers throughout the property. It’s driving distance to other properties and towns you can looks for dinners. Already planning our stay next year we loved it that much!

The Curio Collection by Hilton at Baia di Chia Resort offered us a sweeping view of the beaches and the Mediterranean sea. The rooms are modern and well kept with terraces the made the most of the natural surroundings. The front desk staff was exceptional and the team that provided the carts up and down from the rooms ran reliably. Expect some uphill paths between amenities and the rooms but the trade off is the privacy and laid-back luxury near some of Sardinia's best beaches in the south. Aside from the beaches there is not too much easily accessible from the hotel but the onsite restaurants more than made up it with their exceptional quality and service.
