We thoroughly recommend the stunningly beautiful Bougainvillea hotel in Christchurch. It is aptly named with the vibrant red, pink and purple flowers cascading down through the hotel from reception flanking the mini waterfalls and pools to the beachfront. It’s an independent hotel owned by a Bajan family and makes a refreshing change from the sterile, one-size-fits-all, all-inclusive international chains where you could be spending your time in any destination in the world. The Bougainvillea oozes Bajaness - from the calm ‘no problem’ attitude and warmth of the staff to the delicious food at the Calabash restaurant and the bars. The beach is gorgeous and the watersports team are fab. There’s even a games room and a gym. It’s definitely a family friendly hotel with pools ideal for children from babies to teenagers. There’s a swim up bar for adults too. And it’s brilliantly located not far from St Lawrence Gap and the fishing village of Oistins, famous for their fabulous Fish Fries. Ask for a room with step-free access if you have a mobility impairment. If you are travelling to Barbados, then please do consider supporting Bajan-owned hotels and avoid all-inclusive deals so you can support local businesses by spending your money in local bars, restaurants and shops. Not only will you help the local communities but you will get to experience the real Barbados - and it’s magnificent.

My wife and I stayed at Bougainvillea Barbados for eight days to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we had an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The bartenders, front desk team, restaurant staff, and management all went above and beyond to make our stay special. We spent a lot of time by the pool, which had a fun and social atmosphere. We met many great people at the pool bar, and we loved that the hotel set up a television so guests could watch the World Cup directly from the pool. We also enjoyed walking next door to Deia Beach Club to watch some of the matches. It was convenient to pick up breakfast each morning and have lunch at the resort. The manager’s cocktail reception on Thursday evening was another lovely experience and a great opportunity to meet people. The hotel team also gave us helpful recommendations for places to visit and things to do around Barbados. Bougainvillea helped make our first trip to Barbados and our anniversary truly memorable. We highly recommend the resort, and we’ll definitely stay here again when we return!

Its not really a 4 star hotel in my opinon. Pros Spacious rooms Clean Bright rooms Negative For some reason wasnt given a welcome drink for myself and my familly. Everyone else who came after got their drinks. There is not enough information about the entertainment. Didnt even know if they did anything at all, until i read another review. Was only told about the construction work after we had booked which was none refundable! The kitchen came with a kitchen and cofffee machine. But there was no tea bags or coffee or even a bottle of water! Even 3 star hotel has these as basic items. Oh and there is no lift!! But they do help you carry them up

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional service from Shamari at Bougainvillea Barbados! I want to give a special shout-out to Shamari from the Watersports team. Truly all guys from Watersport (on a beach) are amazing! And Shamari truly goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and taken care of. Shamari is incredibly attentive, helpful, organized, and professional. Everything around the watersports area is always clean and well maintained, and he is constantly making sure guests have everything they need. What really stands out is his attitude — he is always in a great mood, friendly, positive, and genuinely happy to help. His warm personality and excellent service made our time at the beach even more enjoyable. People like Shamari are what make a vacation truly special. He is a wonderful representative of Bougainvillea Barbados, and I hope the management recognizes how valuable he is to the guest experience. Thank you, Shamari, for your kindness, professionalism, and positive energy! You are amazing! 🌴☀️🌊

I did not enjoy my stay here unfortunately. I was wildly overcharged during my stay and the front desk staff were more accusatory than helpful. The ladies at the front were very rude and making side remarks when I asked to upgrade my room because they are very small. The majority of other guests are closer to retirement age. This resort is more of a retirement resort than an enjoyable vacation. For the price we paid, we could have went anywhere else. Literally any other hotel would have offered a better experience at a better price point. I would not recommend staying here. It is not walkable at all. Close in proximity, but absolutely not walkable.
