An absolute gem of a place. Every single aspect of this hotel was perfection from the views, hospitality, buffet breakfast, location and amenities. The area covering the hotel is vast, airy and you get perfect sunset views. The deluxe sea view room was amazing (comfy beds, balcony and jacuzzi style bath tub) The buffet breakfast had an excellent selection of western and continental meals, must tries are the paratha served piping hot with two types of curry. The pools were also great with special access to Marina club pools + gym and bowling. Overall I had a remarkable stay here and I can't recommend this place enough!

I would like to specially commend Jay, the Guest Service Manager at The Magellan, for the outstanding way he handled my recent experience. While I initially had some concerns during my stay, I was genuinely impressed by how professionally, sincerely and thoughtfully the hotel handled the situation afterwards. Jay took the time to understand my concerns, communicated with me throughout the process, and offered a compensation arrangement that I felt was fair and meaningful. What impressed me most was that this did not feel like a standard service recovery procedure. Jay genuinely took ownership of the situation and showed sincere care towards me as a guest. Before I left the hotel, Jay even personally came to see me off. It was a simple gesture, but it made a lasting impression and showed the level of personal attention he was willing to give. Things can go wrong in any hotel. What truly matters is how the hotel responds when they do. In this regard, The Magellan handled the situation exceptionally well. A special thank you to Jay for his professionalism, empathy and excellent service recovery. He truly turned a potentially negative experience into a positive one. Outstanding crisis management, exceptional service recovery, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended!

Overall a nice experience, but The rooms are quite outdated, not up to 5 stars standard. Restaurants inside aren’t really great. The position is good, there is always a taxi/grab nearby. There is an harbour inside where you can book day trips to the islands. There are also several swimming pools. For the breakfast there is a large buffet, with many choices, but the sweet/dessert part is very limited

We had a wonderful stay at The Magellan Sutera Resort. Special thanks to Azrel and Irena for their warm hospitality and excellent service. They were so friendly, attentive, and helpful, especially in arranging rooms close to each other as we were travelling with many kids. It really made things much easier and more convenient for us. Thank you so much, Azrel & Irena, for taking such good care of us! ❤️ We truly appreciate it and had a lovely stay.

The best part of the resort was its location - next to a beautiful and clean marina. The beach is full of fascinating fish swimming up next to you. And e-hailings to town were cheap (6-8 ringgits). But this was NOT a 5 star hotel that is comparable to, say, the Shangri La in the same town. As others have mentioned, the facility and the room were outdated. The pool was dirty and full of bandages and other people's stuff. The beach, which had many great looking reef fish, has some nasty garbage, including rusty nails which came from the deck and not from the ocean (we picked some up and threw them into the garbage). What made the experience worse was the guests that this hotel seemed to be attracting. They were rude and completely lack the awareness of other people's space. Breakfast buffet was like a wet market where people compete for food and fruit, then ate in the most obscene way possible. Doors were slammed constantly from 6am to mid night. Then there was the 9pm to 12am singing performance in the lobby, which was unnecessary, cringy, and disrupts sleeps. Sadly, and understandably, the staffs were unfriendly (possibly due to the type of customers they had to deal with constantly).
