A really nice hotel! We stayed there for two weeks at the end of February 2026. We really enjoyed it! The rooms are very clean and spacious. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was also really tasty, however, sometimes a bit too spicy for my liking (but I'm not a big fan of spicy food so..). There are quite some things to try at the hotel - they have a pool table, table tennis, badminton, cricket, squash and a gym. For gym rats, the equipment might not be satisfactory, but you can definitely do a basic training there :) All the equipment was working properly, however, it would be good to refresh it a bit :) The beach was quite steep but wit a nice sand. You cannot really lay there due to it's curve, that's why the sun beds are located not directly on the beach, but an area next to it (which is good as you get the natural shade from the palm trees). The biggest drawback of the hotel is the amount of people who try to sell something to you. As the beach is public, women come there to sell dresses and other clothing items, men on the other side keep trying to sell trips and coconuts. When you leave the hotel from the side of the street a similary thing happens - it's impossible to take even a short walk without being stopped by people offering you various things. Although we met quite a lot of friendly people in Sri Lanka, sometimes it was really hard not to feel like a walking ATM... All in all, we had a really good experience here. if your main goal is to get some rest and unwind - this is a place for you. If you are looking for a place from which you can travel around, maybe go for a different city as this one is quite far from most of the attractions.

Wonderful hotel at the end of our holiday and spent 3 nights here. We had a deluxe sea view room which was great, if not a little tire round the edges. The staff were marvelous and looked after us really well, even when we were late for breakfast one morning! Sam the waiter was exceptional.

The staff at the Mermaid make this hotel as popular as it is. They are amazing. Many visitors have been coming here for many years which speaks volumes. The pool & grounds are immaculate. The food is good, especially the desserts which are excellent. The bedrooms are spacious & very clean. The bathrooms are totally adequate & again very clean. All in all a hotel which is excellent value for money & a pleasure to visit.

We had a wonderful experience at Mermaid Hotel & Club. The atmosphere was calm, relaxing, and beautifully maintained. Every meal was delicious, boasting both high quality and exceptional taste. Throughout our visit, the service was excellent and extremely friendly. We also enjoyed spending time at the beach viewpoint, the pool table, and the snack bar. To top it all off, there is even a wonderful spa on-site.

The room is really worth the money. The place is really cool, very clean, and close to the beach. It is also very beautiful. The staff are good and helpful. However, there is one important thing to mention about the water. As someone who has visited many hotels around the world, this was disappointing. They do not provide sealed drinking water bottles for guests staying in the rooms. Instead, they keep a refillable tumbler and ask guests to refill it from a water dispenser outside the room. This is not acceptable when it comes to hygiene. Hygiene should always be the number one priority for guests.
