The Colony Hotel is one of Miami’s most iconic and photographed Art Deco landmarks, located in the heart of South Beach. Known for its glowing blue neon signage and geometric architecture, it has been a symbol of Miami's tropical Art Deco style since it opened in 1935. Tripadvisor Tripadvisor +1 Key Features of the Colony Hotel Iconic Architecture: Designed by renowned architect Henry Hohauser, the hotel features a symmetrical façade, pastel colours, and horizontal bands typical of the 1930s era. Prime Location: Situated at 736 Ocean Drive, the hotel is directly across from the beach and within a short walk of the Art Deco Historic District, the former Versace Mansion, and Collins Avenue shopping. Pop Culture Status: The building has served as a backdrop for numerous films and TV shows, including Scarface and Miami Vice, making it a global cultural icon. Amenities: The property offers modern rooms with a retro atmosphere, an on-site American restaurant called Montana’s, free Wi-Fi, and 24-hour reception. Cool and iconic. Right by the beach. Service is good. We came early and they had a room available and let us in at 9am (check in is typically at 4!) Rooms are nice - huge TV! They were recently rennovated in 2023. I also felt the king was a nice size. However, now the not so good - cleaning. Idk who they have contracted with for cleaning, but easily fixable issues in my opinion: - Shower curtain had mold, and was generally not long enough so would suck into the shower and touch you (ew) while showering. Water ends up all over the floor. - The white grout needs a deep scrub and bleach, after being used for 3 years. It's black now. Also ew. - They never cleaned our room. Think the fact that the bathroom is soaked after a shower means we need at least a fresh floor towel. - Bro, instead of a duvet cover, they just put two sheets together. See my video. Big ew. You'd touch the (likely) unwashed duvet all night. Get a good cleaning service in to deep clean the rooms here and there, clean them appropriately in general, and spend a buck on a real duvet cover and shower curtains.

My boyfriend and I were upgraded to an ocean front room for our two night stay. The sunrise was beautiful and we could see it right from our window. The beach was easily accessible as it was across the street from the hotel. The hotel staff and restaurant staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and welcoming. We cannot wait to book our next trip with the colony hotel. Could not recommend it enough.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Colony Hotel. The first and most important thing is the central location directly on the beach. The hotel has no resort fee and there is a convenient parking garage several blocks away where you can park all day for $20 dollars. The rooms are small but still comfortable. There is nothing luxurious about this hotel but given all the factors as well as it Art Deco design it is perfect for the budget traveler. While still expensive compared to other rooms this size it stands above many others. The food in South Beach is double the price anywhere else. While breakfast is not free, a standard meal is provided for $11 coffee included. A 20 % gratuity is added to every meal which is annoying but standard in South Beach. I would gladly return if I returned to South Beach.

This is a great little historical hotel. If you go into it thinking it is going to be like a modern hotel built in the last 10 years you will be disappointed. If you understand when this was built and it has been fitted to keep the original feel along with modern expectations it is just fine.
