We came to Elba Estepona with three other couples to sightsee and golf. The person who checked us in was exceptional. So friendly and engaging. The hotel is lovely and sits on the ocean. We all love the ocean but it was slightly too cold for us. The pool however was large, warm and uncrowded because of the time of year The poolside bar offered beer on tap, pitchers of sangria and some standard cocktails. The hotel is walking distance (

We came for a quiet break on my birthday week. The hotel were smashing and I got a great welcome from Hassan and Noel even though we arrived after midnight. The rest of the staff particularly Victoria in housekeeping were very helpful indeed when my wife was ill (nothing to do with the hotel). The bar staff were a bit slow at times but maybe that was due to high demand and careful preparation of very nice cocktails. Food was at the high end for a buffet. Rooms and beds were great with the spacious bathroom facilities one of our favourite things. We'll deffo return. Just remember you have to travel by car, bus or taxi to Estepona. I'd recommend one of the later two, cos town centre parking is a bit of a problem during current construction works.

★★★☆☆ Overall, we had a decent stay at Elba Estepona Gran Hotel & Thalasso Spa. However, in my opinion, it does not really meet the standards of a true 5-star hotel, so it’s better to keep expectations moderate as the service standards may be different here. The best part of the experience was definitely the staff and service team — everyone was very kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The sea view is beautiful, and the breakfast was good, although the variety was quite limited. Many of the facilities feel outdated, even though the hotel still has a unique charm and character. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I expected more from a hotel with a 5-star rating.

We had such a wonderful stay at Elba Estepona and honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. A special mention has to go to Toni, who was absolutely incredible. She went above and beyond for us, always with a smile, and made us feel so welcome and looked after throughout our stay. She really is a credit to the hotel. We stayed here on way to our wedding in Gibraltar and currently on route back there now to stay another few nights. The restaurant staff were also fantastic. Everyone was so friendly, attentive and genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests were enjoying themselves. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. I also want to give a special mention to the cleaners and housekeeping team. Our room was always beautifully clean and tidy, and it was lovely to see how friendly and pleasant the staff were whenever we saw them around the hotel. They often don't get the recognition they deserve, but they make such a difference to the overall experience. The hotel itself is in a beautiful beachfront location, with stunning sea views and a really relaxing atmosphere. It was exactly what we needed during our stay in Estepona. For us, it was the people who really made our stay special. From Toni at reception, to the restaurant team and the housekeeping staff, everyone made us feel genuinely welcome. A huge thank you to the whole Elba team, and especially Toni, for making our stay so enjoyable. We would absolutely love to return. ❤️

Really relaxing hotel with a nice, low-key atmosphere. There are families, but also an older crowd. There are activities if you want them, but nothing feels too full-on. The rooms and bathrooms are huge, there’s loads of indoor space and seating, and the surroundings are lovely. Plenty of sunbeds too, although, as with most resorts, you’ll need to be out early if you want a particular spot. The staff are probably the biggest positive. The restaurant staff are excellent and the bar staff are very friendly and certainly move fast, although the service isn’t always the most efficient! I wouldn’t describe the hotel as dated. It’s Andalusian in style rather than ultra-modern, and has plenty of character. The main buffet is fairly standard for this sort of hotel – nothing particularly special, but perfectly decent – and the all-inclusive option is good value. We didn’t try the à la carte restaurants, so can’t comment on those. Evening entertainment is brief and low-key, usually one act each night. The kids’ club is a good size, with friendly staff and a large soft-play area. (No mini-disco 😢) There’s direct access to the beach, with dark sand and a slightly rocky entrance into the sea. We didn’t use the adults-only pool or spa, so can’t comment on those either. The main town is around a 40-minute walk away, but there are buses and taxis if you don’t fancy the walk. Excursions can also be booked through reception, including trips to larger towns, Gibraltar and North Africa. Overall, a really pleasant place if you want somewhere spacious, friendly and relaxing rather than a busy, high-energy resort.
