Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife during our holiday. The resort location is very nice because it is far away from the city centre. The staff were very friendly and professional, especially the dining staff and receptionists. The room was very spacious and still felt quite new. If you choose the ocean building, the view is beautiful and highly recommended. The bathroom was very clean, with a large mirror featuring built-in LED lighting. The bathtub was spacious and the hot water worked well. However, the shower drainage could be improved, as water tends to pool during showering. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of food choices. The pool and beach areas were also well maintained and enjoyable. There is also a convenience store if you want to buy some snacks or drinks. My wife tried the spa, and the price was reasonable with excellent service. However some of the restaurant or building at the resort were no longer operational. Overall, this resort offers very good value for money and is highly recommended.

The hotel needs renovation. The plumbing is good quality, but very old; the shower faucet barely works. There's rust and mold everywhere. The tiles in the hallways are broken. The food is also a separate issue: the prices are very high, and the food is unappetizing. There's very little choice, and the food is not tasty at all. The regular cafes in Kota are much tastier! Food delivery to the hotel is prohibited; a fine of 500 MYR is charged. The nearest cafe with good food is a 39-minute taxi ride away. The grounds are large and clean, and the beach is almost clean. Sun loungers are free, but they're dirty. The beach is large and magnificent! This is no more than a 3-star hotel. When I booked a month in advance, I wrote a separate letter requesting two adjoining rooms. They gave me two rooms next to each other. The treatment of guests is poor, and there's no other way to go.

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The refrigerator in our room was completely broken. The drainage was blocked and the fridge wasn’t cold at all. When we asked for help, the staff insisted that this was “normal” and refused to fix it. The manager, James, even blamed us for the issue and told us we “shouldn’t expect too much from the fridge.” It gets worse. Maintenance removed the drain plug, which resulted in cockroaches coming up through the drain in the room. Despite reporting this, nothing was properly resolved. The air-conditioning was also malfunctioning, yet the hotel refused to move us to another room, claiming they were fully booked. This was hard to believe when we barely saw anyone on our floor or even at breakfast the entire day. For the price we paid, thousands for this stay, the experience was shocking. The facilities are outdated, poorly maintained, and the staff attitude makes things even worse. The breakfast was also terrible and far below what you would expect from a hotel with this kind of reputation. This place desperately needs better management, better maintenance, and major upgrades. Right now, it feels like an old hotel surviving on an undeserved reputation. Honestly, I would gladly pay thousands more just to erase this experience from memory.

It’s my second time staying in this hotel. I love the environment and the beach here. Very relaxing and quiet. But it was a disappointing stay overall due to several basic service issues. Arrived right at 3pm check-in time, but the room wasn’t ready yet—had to wait quite a while with luggage. During daytime, only 2 restaurants were open, which felt very limited for a hotel of this size. No option to order food or even simple snacks/drinks at the poolside, which was a big letdown for relaxing by the pool. Breakfast rush hour was chaotic: tables weren’t cleared quickly, waitresses served us while dirty tables piled up around, and many guests (including us) had to hunt for a clean spot ourselves. Location and room were fine, but these operational shortcomings really impacted the experience. Hope management improves staffing and services soon.

⭐️⭐️ (2/5) We stayed at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai – Garden View King Bed Room from 17–18 January to celebrate my child’s birthday. Unfortunately, this stay was very disappointing and far below the standard expected from a resort of this reputation. I requested a simple birthday decoration during booking and was charged RM50. I accepted the charge, expecting something reasonable. What we received was extremely poor and not worth RM50 at all. On top of that, the bed was dirty and dusty, causing my family to feel itchy throughout the night. Cleanliness should be a basic, non-negotiable standard, yet it was completely overlooked. Front Desk Experience: The receptionist during check-in was polite and efficient. This was the only positive service experience during our stay. Bell Boy / Luggage Handling: When we asked for assistance with our luggage, one staff member (possibly a new staff wearing spectacles) gave us conflicting instructions — first asking us to bring the luggage to the front door, then telling us we had to walk all the way to the room ourselves. Only because a senior staff overheard our conversation did we receive proper assistance via the hotel car. This raises a serious concern: what would have happened if the senior staff had not intervened? Poor training and lack of service awareness among staff should not be passed on to paying guests. Reservation / WhatsApp Team – Very Poor Communication: The reservation staff did a terrible job representing and promoting the resort: 1. When I asked about restaurant menus, I was simply told to check the website. However, upon arrival, we discovered that most restaurants were not operating for lunch, leaving us with only Sunset Bar & Grill as an option. 2. For dinner, the staff failed to confirm buffet pricing in advance, showing a lack of preparation and professionalism. 3. The room was not properly explained. We were never informed that the Garden View rooms are located far from the lobby, requiring long walks. Had this been communicated clearly, we would have upgraded to the Ocean Wing without hesitation. Facilities & Environment: While the beach, kids’ pool, playground, and Nexus Club are enjoyable and suitable for families, the overall cleanliness of the resort is unacceptable. The beach area, grassy surroundings, and even areas near the rooms were dirty and poorly maintained, which significantly affected our experience. Conclusion: This stay was not value for money. While the resort has potential and good facilities for children, it is let down by: • Poor room cleanliness • Inconsistent and inadequate staff service • Weak reservation communication • Misleading expectations during booking Celebrating a child’s birthday should be a memorable experience, not a frustrating one. Serious improvements in management, housekeeping, staff training, and communication are urgently needed before this resort can justify its pricing or reputation.
