Just came back from a glorious 7 day trip to paradise. From the 10 minute ride from the airport, to the rum punch we were handed checking in, the hospitality of the staff never stopped. From Kemar and Michael greeting you at the door and making you have fun and laugh every day to the talents of Danny and the other bartenders making the best cocktails you can imagine! Cherie and the staff at the buffet are top notch and will get you anything you desire. Lastly, the cleaning staff are amazing. Our room was lovely…always clean and comfortable. Our friends had the Super saver room and they said it was perfect. It was slightly smaller, but with so many things to do, you don’t stay inside. Also, as a side note, we did a 4 hour island tour with Antonio, arranged through the resort, it was wonderful and well worth the cost.

The Sands - a beautiful hotel right on the beach with a top-notch staff! We stayed at The Sands from September 7 to 16, 2026, and had a wonderful time there. The staff is very friendly and helpful and does everything they can to fulfill your every wish. The food has a bit of a British touch at times, since there are many British guests there, but there are always dishes with a regional flair, especially at lunch and dinner. The hotel is located right on a beautiful white-sand beach, so you can decide at any time whether to use the saltwater pool or just take “three steps” into the ocean. Our suite was very spacious and clean. The bed was also very comfortable, and we had everything we needed. We would recommend The Sands to anyone who doesn’t necessarily want to stay at a large resort and who values good customer service.

We just returned from our Barbados vacation, and overall the experience was enjoyable. We stayed in a Supersaver room, and while it was small with no balcony, it served our needs. Main observations include: being a small resort, the variety of food was more limited. Buffet meals were good, and there was a nice selection. The A la cart meals could be more limited if you have food restrictions; while the staff, especially the servers, were polite, several were not interested in having dialogue. This was a noticeable difference from other Caribbean resorts we have stayed at. Heads up, if you like eating your meals with the local birds, you are in for a 'treat' ... grackles in particular are plentiful and since the restaurant is open on 3 sides they are ever present, ready to pounce on unattended plates of food; unfortunately Mother Nature was not being kind to the beach during our stay, depositing lots of seaweed and eroding the shoreline. Swimming was restricted to the one lone pool; the resort was an excellent base from which to travel to other sites - easy walking distance to St. Lawrence Gap and Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary, and taxi service was readily available on the street just outside the resort entrance; it is true, Barbados is expensive compared to other Caribbean countries we have visited. We thought June being in the 'shoulder season' of tourism, costs would be lower, but if so, they are still high (eg a 24 case of bottled water you can get in Ontario for under $3 cost us over $30!). For the same money we paid for the Supersaver room, we have gotten larger rooms with a balcony in bigger resorts at other Caribbean destinations, and they cost $1,000 less. Despite the expense, we are glad to have visited Barbados as it was on my wife's bucket list. We saw lots of great natural and cultural sites, and The Sands helped make the visit pleasant.

First time in Barbados and would definitely go back. Rooms were clean, spacious, lots of storage. AC only in main room. We asked for a fan and they brought one right away. The half door shower was a bit challenging. One main restaurant, food was good but not too authentic. One bar, drinks were good. Staff work on barbados time, all good your on vacation. Live music in the evening, sweet and simple. Lots of eating places and markets very close by. Beach was a bit rough and small. Swimming pool nice for a quick dip. Lots of nearby beaches. Thank you Diana and Nicoly for making our family vacation a memorable one.

My feedback is a reflection on how the hotel is run, so hopefully other people can make the right decision and not book there. I'll try and keep to the highlights: * hotel staff are rude, borderline disrespectful. Might do their work if you tip them * rooms are left without towels. As a guy at the front desk put it "we schedule them for when the guests get back to their rooms" - no such thing! * rooms are left with more rubbish after the cleaner. We had an occasion where empty crisp packet was left in the bedroom and a few guests reported similar experience * disrespectful to nature (on this occasion also illegal). A bird had made a nest on the pillows on the balcony and had laid an egg. I specifically asked the deputy hygiene manager to make sure the bird is not disturbed, only to find on the day after that the nest with the egg were gone * no hot water in the morning and low water pressure in the afternoon * WiFi is patchy at best * breakfast was usually late by 15/20 min with no explanation * on a few occasions the staff were crying in the restaurant * beach was not cleaned and I can't say the pool was cleaned more than 3 times for the 10 days we stayed * as it was our honeymoon the hotel left us a bottle of champagne but didn't consider providing glasses with it * the kitchen was fully furnished and had no cutlery. There were two coffee mugs, 2 small spoons and one water glass. It might all sounds like little, inconsistent bits but all of them, happening at the same time, are quite frustrating. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel and not worth the money.
