Cape Sounio, the iconic Athens Riviera resort by Grecotel, unveils its 2026 theme, “The 13 Full Moons of 2026,” celebrating a rare year of 13 full moons. Uniquely positioned facing the Temple of Poseidon, it is the only hotel in the world where guests can witness the moon rising directly behind the ancient temple, creating a spectacular and globally celebrated phenomenon. Recognised among Tatler’s 101 Best Hotels in the World 2026, the resort combines celestial events with curated experiences including full moon hikes, night swims under meteor showers, and special themed dining.

Following a full renovation in 2025, the resort features 139 rooms, bungalows, suites and villas immersed within pine forests and archaeological surroundings, just under an hour from Athens. The newly enhanced Spa introduces the expanded “Elevations of Wellness” programme by renowned osteopath Vicky Vlachonis, blending ancient Greek healing with modern science, alongside new Full Moon Rituals and the discovery of a private Spa Beach for exclusive wellness experiences.

With five restaurants, three bars, new additions including the Villa Poseidon, Water Collection and sea-view gym, plus family-friendly offerings such as the “Kids Go Free” programme.

Had a brilliant stay at Cape Sounio, such a beautiful place with an incredible setting and atmosphere. The views are stunning and the food was excellent throughout. The gym was great and I loved the outdoor setup too. My room was perfect and the whole experience was spot on from start to finish. Loukas and Elena were especially helpful and made everything feel easy and welcoming. Xenia and Nikoleta were also lovely and really added to the overall experience. There were so many attentive and friendly staff, too many to mention, but the level of service across the board was excellent. Couldn’t fault anything and I’m looking forward to returning.

We had an exceptional stay at Capo Sounio (Grecotel). The service was truly impeccable: a caring, attentive team that made us feel welcome at all times. The quality of the hotel is outstanding, both in terms of comfort and the services provided. The location is simply perfect, offering an ideal setting to relax, unwind, and fully enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. A real highlight is the proximity to historical monuments, which makes the experience even more magical and enriching. A place we highly recommend without hesitation!

Beautiful setting with stunning views, thoughtfully designed architecture, and a true sense of serenity throughout the property. It’s very easy to get around, and being immersed in nature makes the experience even more relaxing. The staff were also very kind and welcoming, which added a lot to the stay. However, while there are several dining options, the food offering needs improvement in quality and variety to match the overall standard of the hotel. I do hope management addresses this, as it would significantly enhance the overall experience.

Firstly the service here is 11/10! I don’t think we ever waited more than 30 seconds for a glass of water, the staff are fantastic & very attentive. Being at the beach & pool is a pleasure. The grounds of the hotel are immaculate & the views breathtaking. We were very fortunate to be upgraded to a temple view room which I would highly recommend, one of the best room views I’ve ever had. The food is very good, Yali being by far our favourite restaurant on the site, romantic setting & amazing fish dishes. Great choices at breakfast (but we would say the dinner buffet is not worth the cost). There were just a few little niggles. The cleaning could be a bit better in the rooms & this may not effect others but for us it was a shame - there is a huge TV in the room but it can’t connect to WiFi or Netflix etc so only a few channels available - on our rainy day it would’ve been nice to watch a film. We ordered room service once & had to send it back, this was the only food we had there that wasn’t good. We arrived for the wine tasting & it’d been cancelled but no one seemed to know about it which was odd as it had been on the app all week & advertised to us at breakfast that day. (The hotel put on a range of different daily activities on site which is a nice touch) These things wouldn’t stop me from coming back, (I just note them as obviously it’s not a cheap stay) we loved our break here & both felt truly relaxed. The hotel has a special feel to it that I haven’t experienced in many others 💫

We have stayed a whole week and what a gorgeous hotel! Whoever designed this Hotel loved nature and had great attention to detail! The property has so many pine trees and it smells gorgeous! Everything is well looked after. Our room is very clean and beautiful! We would like to mention a few people that made our stay extra special: Iryna; Ariana (both from Breakfast restaurant); Ioanna (Reception) and the Bar staff and Management at the beach bar and Konstantinos the Somelier! TOP CLASS employees ♡ thank you for making little spiderman feel special all the time. We will be back
