Hotel rooms are good. Cozy and private. The staff needs a little more training to do speak softly and be more attentive, esp the breakfast staff. They definitely need to do something about the watersport ‘camp’ directly behind the beach, they’re loud and a nuisance esp in the breakfast hours moving all their equipment in and out. Nice hotel and love the quiet ambiance of the location but staff needs a little more training and the watersport needs to moved away from the breakfast dining area.

4/5 Stars - A few small improvements are needed. We enjoyed our 4 night stay at Lone Pine. The room was large, quiet, clean, and comfortable. The bedding was amazing! The washroom, while large, needs some attention. Specifically the shower. The hot water handle was loose so you need to hold the base of the knob while turning and the hand held shower head holder was also loose so it wouldn't stay upright. Another issue was the water temperature. The water would fluctuate from cold to very hot during showers. The staff at Lone Pine were wonderful. Each day we were greeted warmly by all staff members, but I would like to draw attention to Siti in particular. Siti was so warm and friendly and really made us feel welcomed every day. Breakfast at The Bungalow was a great way to start each day. Eugene and staff have that place running like a well oiled machine. And the selection each morning was great. The pool was very relaxing. I've seen some previous reviews complain about the pine needles in the pool, but it's impossible to keep the pool spotless when surrounded by such beautiful trees. The fitness centre was a bit below average. While the environment is nice, spacious, and clean, the variety of equipment is lacking. You really can't get a good workout based on the current equipment. Overall, the hotel is a very good option. With a few small improvements it would easily be 5 stars.

This was my second stay at Lone Pine, Penang, and once again, it reminded me why I would happily return. The check-in counter has been relocated to what I believe used to be the library. Check-in was fast, smooth and easy, and I was assigned a room on Level 2 overlooking the beach. And that view — absolutely breathtaking. There is something incredibly calming about waking up to the sea, hearing the waves and smelling the ocean air. Most of the time, I actually kept the sliding doors open just so I could listen to the sound of the waves from my room. The room itself was huge, clean and spotless. I especially appreciated having a ceiling fan, which was perfect when I wanted to leave the balcony doors open rather than use the air-conditioning. The bathroom and shower were equally clean, with good water pressure. The large king bed was very comfortable and I slept well, apart from one rather unusual issue: the alarm went off during both nights of my stay. However, this is where Lone Pine really impressed me. During both nights of my stay, the smoke alarm would go off by itself, about few minutes or so. This disrupts my sleep esp that i am a light sleeper. The staff apologised profusely and genuinely wanted to know what they could do to make up for the inconvenience. Sometimes, what matters most is not the problem itself — things can go wrong in any hotel, and it may not even be the staff’s fault — but how the hotel responds when something does go wrong. The way the team handled the situation made me feel valued as a guest and, more importantly, gave me confidence to stay here again. I had also wanted to try their evening picnic experience, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate during my stay. Perhaps next time! One small thing I missed from my previous stay was the hammock in the garden. I remember it being such a lovely touch, but I could not find it this time. I hope they bring it back — there is really nothing quite like relaxing under the trees with the sea just a few steps away. Breakfast was enjoyable with a good selection as well. I would have easily given this stay a full 5 stars, but because of the alarm issue on both nights, I think 4.5/5 is fair. Nevertheless, I will definitely return. In fact, Lone Pine is one of those hotels that could make me come back to Penang just to stay here again. The beautiful beachfront setting, spacious room, sound of the waves and, above all, the way the staff looked after me made this a memorable stay. See you again, Lone Pine. 🌊

I had wonderful stay at this hotel. Staff were friendly, always ready to help. Room was clean, and has it own privacy. My son enjoy every single second there. The heavenly bed make me falling asleep to the sound of waves is the kind of luxury money rarely buys. The facilities were excellent and great. Lone Pine make me feel "I will be back"

We stayed here for our friend’s birthday retreat, and it was fantastic. The room was spacious, felt really luxurious, and was incredibly comfortable. The staff were so friendly and welcoming; we especially loved the welcome drinks, the in-house dining, and the sunset bar. The sunsets here are honestly superb! I’d highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a calm, soothing retreat away from the city life.
