Well, what can I say? The service was excellent, and the room was comfortable and well-maintained. During my stay, the hotel was quite crowded due to the school holidays, but that did not affect the quality of the service. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist whenever we needed something. The breakfast buffet was great, and the food was delicious. Before checking out, we ordered four dishes (two Fish & Chips, one pasta, and one chicken burger). Since we wanted to try a variety of dishes, we requested kid-sized portions. To our surprise, every dish was outstanding. A big salute to the chef and the kitchen team for delivering such delicious meals. Overall, this hotel provided a wonderful experience for me and my family. To the supervisor, if you're reading this, please reward your team accordingly. They truly deserve recognition for their excellent work. What a superb experience!

Beautiful views and great dining staff, but the check-in process and rooms need improvement. ​Upon arrival, the place was very crowded and parking was difficult to find. We had to wait about 15 minutes just for the buggy, and the check-in process took another 15 to 30 minutes. To make matters worse, we were greeted by an Indian lady with a sour face. Fortunately, the staff at the actual reception counter were friendly. ​When we entered the room, it was clear that the property is quite dated. There was peeling wood, and it felt like the hotel management is trying to cut costs as much as possible. ​The highlight of our stay was definitely the breakfast staff, especially Encik Mohamed Jamal at the counter, as well as the rest of the dining team. Everyone was incredibly friendly and well-trained. The pool and the surrounding scenery are also very beautiful. ​Would I come back? Probably not. For the price, I would rather try another hotel that offers better value and quality.

Staying at Shangri-La Golden Sands Resort was truly an amazing experience for my family. The peaceful atmosphere, especially during the weekdays, made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a memorable family getaway in Penang. The resort offers excellent facilities, warm hospitality, and a welcoming environment that makes guests feel at home. While there are a couple of areas that could be improved, our overall experience was overwhelmingly positive. I have already shared my detailed feedback with the resort through email regarding our 3-day, 2-night stay, and I sincerely hope to visit again in the future. Thank you once again to everyone at Shangri-La Golden Sands Resort for making our family holiday so special. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

We took our kids there during the recent school holidays. The breakfast selection was poor, the whole breakfast choices were limited with not much meat choices (or if any, they were literally empty and couldn’t refill on time). The juices provided were merely flavored sugary drinks. Overall, the breakfast experience was like trying to fight for food in a canteen. This could be one of the worst breakfast experiences we ever had. With limited selection of food, the food available was sub-parred standard, even a roti canai was poorly being made. The rooms dated, the corridor has a musky smell and felt dirty at the corners. The carpet really needs deep cleaning or even change. The rooms decor has been updated but still the bathrooms is a little dirty. The bathtub felt far from clean (though it looks ok), unsafe for the elderly to climb into the bathtub to shower. At least the pillow and mattress is not too bad. Considerably comfortable. The poolside area is unkept, with food debris and rubbish everywhere. There is food packaging everywhere, uncleared and disorganized. It was also extremely crowded. Service was rude by the buffet staff. When confronted, they replied to complain about them directly, it is not their duty to answer our queries of where to get the bowls or plates. Constantly running out, it seems management was poor. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I will not return back again. The whole experience was not great.

Stayed here for a short 2D1N trip before the school holidays. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with a few areas that could be improved. The room was tidy and comfortable, although the floor felt a little sandy when we checked in. On the positive side, the staff were excellent throughout our stay—friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. My daughter had a great time at the mini waterpark, which was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. However, as a family that enjoys spending time at the beach, we found the private beach a bit disappointing. Not because of cleanliness, but due to the severe erosion along the shoreline. It didn’t feel very safe for swimming, especially with children. I was really looking forward to the breakfast buffet. There was a wide variety of food available, which was great, but the presentation wasn’t particularly appetising. In the end, I spent most of my breakfast enjoying the pastries, scrambled eggs, and creating my own English breakfast from the Western station. One thing that could be improved is the dining area during breakfast. It felt quite humid and warm, and additional air conditioning would make the experience much more comfortable. Overall, we enjoyed our stay thanks to the excellent service and family-friendly facilities, but I hope the beach condition and dining comfort can be improved in the future.
