Do Not Stay here. I booked through Booking.com paid $643.19 for 2 nights and at checkout got charged again for the room $681.28. What was supposed to be a family outing turn to a big issue. Then they want add a smoking fee $570. I tried calling and speaking with them. Manager never available and never replied back to my calls or emails. This was July 17 and im still waiting 8/27. This stay cost me $1894.47. Not Worth it, No breakfast provided or available. Not worth the headache. The location is great. But not to get charged twice and no call backs or email back after sending proof of the double charged.

We arrived very late after our wedding for our honeymoon. Exhausted and ready to get upstairs, Carlos helped make the check-in smooth and fast. The location was perfect. Right in the thick of all the fun. Amazing restaurants within walking distance, and a private beach. Will definitely be staying here again.

The hotel itself is pretty basic. The lobby has a lovely, sultry vibe with stylish décor, but unfortunately that atmosphere doesn’t carry through to the rooms. The rooms feel a bit clinical in comparison, almost like they belong to a different property entirely. One thing to be aware of is the $55 per day resort fee. We were told this covers two beach towels, an hour of bike rental, and access to various classes and activities during the stay. In reality, we didn’t see any evidence of these activities actually taking place, despite them being listed. If they did happen, they were extremely well hidden. The resort fee also doesn’t include any water facilities, and water in the room is priced at $8 a bottle. There’s also no complimentary coffee available in the mornings like most hotels offer. Instead, you get an old‑looking in‑room coffee machine and two coffee bags, which feels a bit stingy for the price point. Staff interaction was minimal — just check‑in, check‑out, and the towel attendant by the pool, who could give Houdini a run for his money. Every time we tried to return our towels to get our towel card back (you’re charged $25 per towel if you lose it), he had vanished. My biggest criticism is the paper‑thin walls. I’ve never stayed anywhere where I could hear toilets flushing in the rooms above and beside me, as well as full conversations. It made it difficult to properly relax. All that said, the hotel isn’t dreadful — it’s just… fine. A decent enough stay, but between the steep amenities fee and the noise levels, it’s not somewhere I’d choose to return to.

I stayed here one night and am glad I only did one night. When checking in, the front desk staff was more interested in texting her friends than checking me in. I called guests services and asked for a tea kettle, was told one would be brought to my room. 45 minutes later I called again asking if I would still get it and they said they do not have them for guests to borrow..not sure what happened or why I wasn’t told that and then waited for it. Room was fine, but noisy. Room was plain and felt like I could be in any city, anywhere. No “Miami” decor - which again is fine, but they have so much in the lobby. Doors to room are unnecessarily heavy. I could hear screaming children, the cleaning staff, and anyone walking by. Pool is street level and super busy with traffic, they should put trees or something from seeing onto the street or people looking in. As a travel agent - I did not get a comped room/discount or even let them know I was a travel agent but wanted to see about the room before recommending it to clients and glad I did - I will not be sending clients here. My “view” was laughable.

BEWARE - DO NOT BOOK HERE! Disappointed by a fraudulent $500 charge and a complete lack of management follow-up. I stayed at The Gates for a wedding in South Beach and was shocked to find a "smoking charge" on my bill. The hotel claims a sensor recorded a "heat event." I do not smoke. The only thing that generated heat or steam in that room was using the provided iron to steam my dress before the wedding. Automated sensors can mistake heavy steam for smoke, and slapping a $500 fine on a guest without actual physical evidence is unacceptable. Worse, management has completely ignored the issue. @Scott Reyes, you promised a follow-up on 04/14/2026 and failed to do so. I sent a subsequent follow-up request on 04/24/2026 and have still received zero response. I expect a manager to contact me immediately to reverse this erroneous charge.
