We recently stayed at Angsana Velavaru and had a mixed experience. Positives:
The island itself is beautiful, and the overwater villas are stunning, spacious, and kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. The restaurant staff were the highlight of the resort. A special thanks to Appa and Sumit, who provided exceptional service and always made us feel welcome. Negatives:
The resort feels very quiet, with not much happening on the island. If you’re looking for activities or entertainment, you may be disappointed. Most staff members outside the restaurant seemed unmotivated, and we often had to remind them multiple times before requests were fulfilled. One thing that was particularly disappointing was that several complimentary activities advertised by the resort were difficult to access. We were often discouraged from participating due to “safety concerns” and instead encouraged to book paid activities, which was frustrating. The food was another weak point. There were very limited Indian food options, and the lunch and dinner menus were almost identical every day, making meals repetitive during our stay. Conclusion:
If your idea of a perfect vacation is simply relaxing in a beautiful overwater villa, enjoying the sea views, and doing very little else, Angsana Velavaru is a good choice. However, if you’re looking for a resort with engaging activities, lively surroundings, and a wider variety of good food, especially Indian cuisine, you may want to consider other options.

Views at every point on this island was amazing! My villa faced the sunrise, so definitely a treat every morning ... Brownie points: 1) Ahmed & his team at the Dive Centre was fantastic! Friendly, helpful and certainly experienced people that you'll go to sea with. Chatting with them while the sun went down were some of the best parts of our stay! 2) House reefs was great, love their conservatory efforts! Lots of Titan fish - so kept a look out 3) Main chef was very hospitable and remembers our order, small touches like this elevates the experience. Things that can improve 1) Service at the main restaurant - a bit understaffed, so service was quite slow. But Laila was great, very friendly and helpful. 2) Housekeeping - the guy managing our room kept saying that he can only clean now (a specific time). Otherwise he's very busy and can't come back, if we dont allow him to clean now. I thought it was kinda unprofessional to make these mentions. Nothing too serious cause we loved our time there and can't wait to go back!

My friend and I stayed for one week in Angsana Velavaru in June 2026, and joined the PADI open water dive course here. Definitely a must try for beginners! Coach Ahmed is extremely professional, helpful and reliable. And other staff like Ageel, Jal are very friendly. There are Cantonese and mandarin speaking staff here too! We felt very safe with diving with the team! We got the see the aquatic life like the endless wall of coral, lobsters, starfish, jellyfish, and school of fish. We even saw sea turtles and sharks! There’s no aquarium in the world can compare! Just be careful not to hurt the coral with your fins :)) Apart from the diving course, we also tried bird feeding, paddle board, night fishing, and went swimming with sunset! I’ll never forget my experience and the people here! The people and the nature are very beautiful.

Our stay at Angsana Velavaru was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding, truly some of the best we’ve ever experienced. Over our 6 days here, the team consistently went above and beyond, always checking in on us, asking about our day, and making sure every moment of our stay was special. What really stood out was how genuinely friendly and welcoming everyone was. Every interaction felt natural and heartfelt, which made the whole experience even more memorable. A special mention has to go to Mamun, one of the chefs. As a fellow Bengali, we instantly connected, and he made my lunch and dinner visits with my wife something I genuinely looked forward to each day. His warmth and hospitality added a very personal touch to our stay. Another special mention being Buddy, he also made our breakfast, lunch and dinner visits very memorable, great service all around. Overall, this resort exceeded all our expectations. It was the perfect setting for our honeymoon relaxing, beautiful, and filled with unforgettable moments. Definitely an experience we’ll cherish for a lifetime.

The team was the highlight of our stay, and they turned a great experience into an unforgettable one. We highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for exceptional service, excellent food, and a truly relaxing getaway.
