Our stay at Diamonds Athuruga Maldives Resort & Spa truly lived up to its 5-star reputation — it did not disappoint. The Junior Suite was absolute perfection. The view from our decking was breathtaking, and having the sea just three steps from our balcony felt like a dream come true. The food was of outstanding quality, with a fabulous variety each evening that made every meal something to look forward to. A special mention must go to our waiter, Rasheed, who was exceptional throughout our stay. His attention to detail and level of service were truly 5-star. He looked after us at every meal; breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including two celebration gala nights, and he absolutely made our dining experience first-class. The excursions we attended — reef snorkelling, the dolphin trip, and the whale shark excursion were all run very professionally. We felt safe, well cared for, and still had plenty of fun throughout. The welcome team were also outstanding. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they always took the time to check in with us and ensure everything was going well. A special mention to Lea, who was a very professional and friendly presence throughout our stay. We had an incredible experience and are already looking forward to returning next year!

My husband and I have visited the Maldives six times in total, and two of those trips were to Diamonds Athuruga. We usually don’t return to the same resort, but this place is simply the exception to the rule — and we might just go back again. The island is absolutely stunning and truly our kind of place. We visit it in March 2024 en December 2025 What makes it extra special is the incredible marine life. The house reef is breathtaking, teeming with life. During our stay we spotted eagle rays, stingrays, sharks, turtles, octopuses, and thousands of colorful fish. You simply never get tired of it. The staff is wonderful — friendly, warm, and always helpful. From the room attendants to the waiters on the restaurant, everyone goes above and beyond. A special mention for Mohammed, our waiter at the restaurant, who was an absolutely lovely person and took such great care of us. He really made our stay extra memorable. The buffet restaurant served delicious and varied food — nothing to complain about there! If you’re looking for a true paradise with an amazing reef and genuinely kind staff, Diamonds Athuruga is the place to be. We’ll be back! 🌊🐠

Our stay in the Diamonds Athuruga was absolutely perfect and exceeded all our expectations. The resort itself was amazing, beautifully located, and our water villa was flawless – offering comfort, privacy, and stunning views. There was always something to do, yet everything felt very natural and in harmony with the surroundings. The activities were well thought out and enjoyable: beach volleyball, table tennis, sunset yoga, snorkeling with sharks, kayaking and even windsurfing. The snorkeling directly at the house reef was absolutely breathtaking, with crystal-clear water, vibrant corals, and abundant marine life. The beach and the ocean were simply stunning. The food was diverse and of excellent quality, with a wide selection every day. A very special thank you goes to Nasooh, our waiter at the main restaurant, who took exceptional care of us throughout the entire week. He was always kind, attentive, and genuinely positive, and he truly made our experience unforgettable. All staff members were incredibly friendly and professional, and we felt truly welcomed and well cared for during our entire stay. We did not experience a single negative moment. The only minor downsides were the higher prices of excursions within the resort and a weaker internet connection – which, in the end, turned out to be a blessing and the perfect opportunity for a true digital detox. Overall, this trip was a dream come true. The Maldives were the perfect choice for our honeymoon, and we honestly could not have chosen a better destination. We highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable experience.

The resort itself is generally nice and the food is good. However, the reality does not fully match what is shown in the promotional photos. This is especially true for the beach bungalows — instead of a wide, sandy beach, many of them have unpleasant, smelly and moldy sandbags placed directly behind the terrace, which significantly restrict access to the water. This looks nothing like the beautiful beach presented in the photos. At first, the hotel staff were dismissive and insisted that changing the bungalow was impossible. This was clearly untrue, as we could see guests checking in and out regularly. It felt like the staff simply did not want to disturb their accommodation schedule or make the effort to rearrange it. Bungalows with sandbags should not be offered at the same price or standard as those with a proper beach. We understand that this is nature and that the resort may have limited control over coastal erosion, but such accommodations should not be priced at a premium. If you choose this bungalow type, be aware that you will most likely be assigned a similar or even worse one — some bungalows had no beach at all, only old sandbags directly in front of the terrace. In a resort of this class, such a situation should never occur — especially during a honeymoon, which unfortunately was negatively affected and partially ruined by this experience.
