Our stay at the Four Seasons Seychelles was, honestly, spectacular and unforgettable. The location is absolutely amazing. It’s set in a beautiful bay and, without a doubt, it was the best beach we saw on the entire island of Mahé. Because it’s located in a bay, the beach was almost exclusively used by guests from the resort, which meant a huge sense of privacy. Enjoying the beach like that, without crowds, was one of the highlights of our stay. All the villas are fantastic. Each one comes with a private pool and incredible ocean views. The food was very good across all the restaurants, with great quality and variety. A special mention definitely goes to the breakfast: extremely varied, with absolutely everything you could want to choose from. And of course, the service from the hotel staff deserves special praise. The entire team was warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable, just as you’d expect from Four Seasons.

I stayed at two Four Seasons properties in the Seychelles: one on Mahé Island and the other on Desroches Island. Among the many Four Seasons hotels I've visited over the years, these felt fairly average. That said, when compared to other hotels and resorts in the region, they would likely earn near-perfect scores. I visited around 2018 or 2019. The journey involved flying to the Middle East, then connecting on Emirates to the Seychelles, followed by a short domestic flight to Desroches. In my experience, they were on par with—but not noticeably superior to—Four Seasons properties in other ASEAN countries or the Maldives. Of course, the staff delivered the signature Four Seasons level of service, which made the trip as enjoyable and seamless as it could possibly be. Still, looking back, I don't feel any strong desire to return. Upon arrival, the tropical island setting didn't evoke that special sense of wonder for me. The same holds true for destinations in ASEAN and the Maldives. The only tropical island retreats I'd genuinely want to revisit are the Four Seasons Private Island in the Maldives and Amanpulo. Perhaps we've simply traveled to so many extraordinary places that we've become somewhat jaded or spoiled. Or maybe, like us, relatively few guests feel compelled to make a return trip.

We were extremely disappointed with our experience at the Four Seasons Seychelles. It is simply unacceptable for a hotel of this level to be unable to accommodate same-day restaurant reservations especially when we are not talking about a Michelin-starred establishment, but a restaurant rated approximately 2.5 on Google. The lack of hospitality and service mindset was shocking. The bar was operating at barely 20% capacity, yet staff refused to seat guests. No flexibility. No solutions offered. No effort to accommodate. This is the Seychelles a destination known for warmth and hospitality yet the attitude felt rigid and unwelcoming. It is ironic that the resort appears to welcome outside visitors to access the beach in order to make the property feel less deserted, yet refuses to accommodate guests at a half empty bar. For a property charging premium rates and carrying such an international reputation, this experience fell far below expectations.

This hotel ranks in my top three worldwide. I have explored the majority of beaches on the main islands of the Seychelles, and nothing compares to the Four Seasons beach. It is genuinely the most breathtaking beach I have ever experienced, speaking as someone who has traveled extensively. Staying there is worth it for the beach alone, and the exceptional service, amenities, and food only elevate the experience further. Will most certainly come back.
