We spent our honeymoon at Hurawalhi Island Resort and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and privacy it offers. As an adults-only resort (16+), it was quiet and relaxing, especially during the off-peak season. There was always plenty of space on the beach, meal times were peaceful, and the resort app made it easy to view activities, menus, prices, and make bookings. A special mention goes to our host, Dinara, who helped make our honeymoon memorable. While she may not have had the most naturally warm personality, she consistently went above and beyond to make our honeymoon special by arranging thoughtful surprises and accommodations for us. She checked in regularly despite us requiring very little assistance, and we truly appreciated her efforts. The highlight of our stay was the Reef Safari excursion. Nico, the resident marine biologist, and Yan, our snorkelling guide, were fantastic. Their knowledge, professionalism, and attention to safety made the experience unforgettable. We saw hawksbill and green turtles, eagle rays, moray eels, pufferfish, and blacktip reef sharks while learning about the local marine ecosystem. We would also like to compliment Ruwindi and Suhail at Canneli. Ruwindi's warm smile and genuine hospitality brightened every meal, while Suhail was consistently polite, respectful, and helpful throughout our stay. The only slight disappointment was the Thursday Maldivian-themed dinner buffet, which felt expensive for the quality offered. Otherwise, Hurawalhi is a wonderful choice for couples seeking a peaceful and private honeymoon destination.

my husband and i came here on our honeymoon and i don’t have the words to express how perfect our experience was from beginning to end. from the moment we grabbed our bags, we were seamlessly escorted by a hurawalhi staff member who helped check our bags in for the sea plane transfer and guided us to the lounge, which was beautiful and offered complimentary food/beverages and a beautiful viewing deck where you could watch sea planes take off and land. the sea plane experience was exceptional - getting a birds eye view of the stunning atolls throughout maldives was such a special treat. after the plane landed, we had a 5 minute speed boat ride to the resort in which we got cold towels. they greeted us at the dock and the check-in process was seamless (we did most of it on the hurawalhi app while in the lounge waiting for our sea plane). we were given a tour by our incredible island host, Yum, who escorted us to the single most beautiful room i have ever stayed in. from this moment onwards, we had the most perfect time with mind blowing hospitality, the BEST food and drinks, and the best and most unique excursions. the undersea restaurant is a must!! tushar and his team, haskko and ruwindi, and the executive chef and his whole team made us feel at home every single day. this was the first vacation i’ve ever taken where i was near tears when it came time to leave. we can’t wait to be back one day. i don’t have a single piece of feedback or complaint, hurawalhi exceeded all of our expectations. it’s been a few days since we left and we still can’t stop thinking about the staff and our experience. thank you all for the honeymoon and the trip of a lifetime, we will never forget it :’)

Our first time in Maldives and in this great resort. Since you arrive you feel you feel in a unique place in the world. Staff is very friendly since you arrive. I really suggest if you are staying in an ocean pool vila request an odd number, the view is better and we requested a change of room (255) from even (244) to odd. The food is great and buffets amazing. We thank Bahau (resort manager), Noza (our concierge) and all staff for making us feel special here.

POSITIVE - Cuisine: The food at the à la carte restaurants was outstanding — on a par with good German fine-dining establishments, and quite possibly the best I have ever had on a holiday. - Island Host: Personally assigned on arrival and reachable at any time, effortlessly, via WhatsApp. NEGATIVE - Neglected overall impression: The vegetation has been left to run wild — in places the island feels like jungle, with only the paths still being cleared. - Run-down water villas: Several appeared dilapidated, the makeshift props beneath them doing little to inspire confidence. - Construction noise: Work was underway on several over-water villas (compressor, jackhammer), and the way to our own villa led past the site every single time. - Dated villas: Doors that don't close properly and single glazing throughout meant that, with any wind or a rougher sea, sleep was almost impossible — simply too loud. - Insects: Despite supposedly daily fogging, flies and mosquitoes were everywhere; even applying repellent several times a day, I was bitten from head to toe. - Villa request ignored: I had asked for a villa not at the far end of the jetty — and was given one of the very last. - No buggy service: Never offered proactively, and requests for a lift were met with little more than blank looks. - Potholed paths: Concrete thinly dusted with sand to mimic sand tracks, and riddled with potholes; after every rain the sand had washed away, leaving bare concrete underfoot. - Almost no lighting: Only a few small lamps along the island and jetty, so at night you walk nearly blind — and the potholes become a real hazard. - Disappointing drinks: Cocktails and mocktails arrived consistently warm, never iced — mixed at room temperature with one or two ice cubes that melted in seconds. - No way around the island: Several stretches have no beach, the sea runs straight into the vegetation, the only path ends in the water, and there is no loop trail — you cannot get around without swimming. - Underwhelming welcome: For a self-styled luxury resort, I had expected the customary fresh coconut on arrival; instead, just a glass of lime juice. - Water too deep at the villa: Too deep to stand in — to get into the sea you had to start swimming straight away. - Dead reef: The corals have almost entirely perished, with very little life left to see. - Sparse marine life: Beyond a few common reef fish, in eight days I saw not a single turtle, not one ray, and only two small sharks. - Dolphin cruise without dolphins: Ninety minutes, not one sighting; the captain pushed on through rough seas regardless, and several guests became so seasick they had to puke. BOTTOM LINE - The excellent food aside, a serious disappointment — for a property that bills itself as a luxury resort, the gap between promise and reality is wide.

WOW! Hurawalhi Resort is just amazing - don't hesitate to book. Everything was perfect from our first arrival in Male airport to getting on the plane home. The resort is beautiful with wonderful snorkeling just on the doorstep - I would say some of the best snorkeling we have ever done. The dive team are also fantastic. Food is wonderful, with such a great variety and I never had any issues as a vegetarian. Special shout out to Rahul the most wonderful chef! The rooms are beautiful and kept very clean and tidy with twice a day cleaning and a very generous mini bar. Overall, would highly recommend - we had such a wonderful holiday and would be very keen to return in the future! To the management: Thank you for running such a wonderful resort and making our trip so memorable. I would like to highlight some of your staff who deserve some very positive feedback. Hassan - an absolute credit to your resort, met us every morning with a smiling face, always a positive attitude, looked after us so well Rahul - a brilliant chef, works so hard to ensure every guest has a perfect experience, we were really impressed Panwar (Pradeep) - also a brilliant chef, always so friendly and makes exceptional pasta!
