A Beautiful Setting That Falls Short on Execution The hotel has an undeniable charm with lush tropical greenery, a stunning pool, and that paradise aesthetic you dream about when booking a trip to Samui. It drew us in on a previous visit and was the reason we chose to stay this time. Sadly, the experience didn’t quite live up to the promise. The rooms are spacious, which we appreciated, but they’re overdue for a serious renovation. Our balcony roof had visible holes, which isn’t what you expect at this price point. A word of warning if you’re visiting in January or February: high tide swallows most of the beach, which creates a real shortage of sun loungers. Competition for them was fierce and guests were reserving spots before sunrise, which made for a frustrating atmosphere first thing in the morning. The biggest disappointment was the restaurant, Anand. Breakfast was mediocre and service was inconsistent. On most mornings, no one bothered to ask if we wanted tea or coffee. The food was decent enough but nothing memorable. The bar was another letdown; cocktail prices were steep, and the only draft beer on offer was from a craft brewery that didn’t suit the setting and was extremely expensive by Thai standards. We had long looked forward to staying here, which made the experience all the more disappointing. It’s a hotel with real potential, but until the rooms are updated and the service and value improve, we won’t be rushing back on our next trip to Samui.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Tone

The room — Royal Suite with sea view — is beautiful! It was fantastic to have our own little outdoor area with a hot tub, and inside there is plenty of space and a large bathroom. The hotel grounds themselves feel like a peaceful oasis on Chaweng Beach. There are lots of trees, and it’s very green and lush. The pool and beach areas are nice. It may be unfair to compare, but we came straight from a similar hotel on Koh Phangan where everything truly deserved top marks from us. Compared to that, Muang Samui doesn’t quite reach the same level, even though there is not much to criticize about the hotel on Koh Samui either. The hotel is located right by the airport, which makes it easy to be woken up by aircraft noise if you are a light sleeper. In addition, many pigeons live on the roof above our room, and they also make noise from early morning. The doors between the bathroom and bedroom are not soundproof, so you should expect to be heard if the other person is indoors as well. Small details like these kept it from getting a top score this time, but we want to emphasize that we had a very pleasant stay and felt very welcome.

Very beautiful hotel offering excellent value for the quality and location. The rooms are large, spacious, well exotically decorated and very comfortable, with clean interiors, many amenities and a very comfortable bed. I had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and the beach, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The location is excellent, with direct access to the famous Chaweng Beach, yet the hotel remains very quiet despite many shops and bars nearby. The swimming pool is surrounded by lots of trees and green spaces, with plenty of benches and shaded areas, including spots on the beach. During the day there can be children playing and yelling around the pool, but it’s not a big deal and doesn’t really affect the overall experience. Breakfast is served on a beautiful terrace from 06:30 to 10:30, with a good variety of options. The gym is small but well equipped and there are plenty of activities offered such as Thai language lessons and Thai cooking classes. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and always eager to help, making the stay comfortable and relaxing overall. A shuttle bus service from and to Samui Airport upon request, costing 300 baht as of December 2025, which is a useful option. During my stay, there were some large groups of guests (from one specific "country") who were quite noisy and did not show much respect for other guests, which slightly affected the atmosphere at times. Aside from this, everything went well and the overall experience was positive. Enjoy 😎🧘‍♀️🧘🙏🌊⛱️🏖️🏝️☀️

We stayed at Muang for four days over the end-of-year period and absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff at both Muang and Babou were truly amazing, and we quickly bonded with the team, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The room was huge and beautifully decorated, and both the breakfast and the pool were excellent. While the Chaweng area is very busy and the beach is not the cleanest, we truly enjoyed relaxing by the pool and spending our evenings at Babou. Thank you for making our stay so special, we hope to be back again soon.

My wife and I were recently guests at our favourite beach hotel. We have stayed at this wonderful place many many times and were disappointed to have stayed elswhere due to extensive renovations taking place. However we were fortunate enough to take advantage of the upgraded facilities this time round. We had a wonderful holiday and have to say the facilities are wonderful. We had a small hiccup a few weeks before our arrival when it looked like our proffered room was going to be unavailable due to renovation but after discussions management made the extraordinary decision to delay the work so that we could enjoy our stay in our favourite poolside room. Once again the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a great time and will be back again of course.
