We had a fabulous 2 week holiday at this quiet hotel. The staff are exceptional and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and to make our holiday special. Hotel is in a quiet spot outside of funchal so don't go if you are looking for action packed holiday but it was perfect for a relaxing holiday. There's a free bus to funchal twice daily and local buses are also easy to use. We also walked into centre in about an hour at an easy pace. Food was lovely and the outside terrace looks directly out to the ocean. Can't wait to return.

Everything about this hotel is fabulous. The most amazing thing is their several entertainment plans! Everyday there is something new! You’ll never get bored. From the morning dance of the staff to the late night live music! There are also multiple physical activities and even a painting session (thank you Bruna 😍). Additionally there is a small fitness room, which I think has enough devices to keep training your muscles on vacation! The food is very nice, a huge variety and all are delicious. I especially loved the meet, the pasta salads, and the fish! I’m not a huge fish fan and I was surprised how nice they taste! The pools are great. It’s wonderful that there are two. You can chill in one and do your swimming in the other. There is also a sauna which I quite like. The location is wonderful. Right next to the ocean. There is even a separate exit to reach the ocean beach. Twice a day there is a shuttle to the city center and back. Very useful! The staff is lovely. Always smiling, always full of respect and energy. I will definitely come back!

Currently staying at the pestanta ocean bay hotel . Room is beautiful clean and spotlesswith a fabulous view of the ocean. Food so far is good varied and plentiful. Staff are amazing and courteous. Hotel is 5km from funchal, more hotel shuttle times rather than just 2 a day with one later shuttle coming back from funchal would be very helpful especially for those would like to spend an evening in funchal city centre, apart from an improvenment in the evening entertainment its been a fantastic day so far .

This is the second time we're staying here and I am extremely disappointed. First time when we were here with my family 9 years ago it was a wonderful experience, but this time I am straight up disgusted. The hotel is crying out for a major renovation, the rooms are dirty, the quality of the food is beyond criticism. Most of the staff do not speak English at all because they are from Asian countries such as India, Pakistan, Indonesia etc. The receptionists are not particularly adequate, they cannot provide accurate information about almost anything. Upon check-in, we found hairs in the bathroom around the sink, as well as on the sheets. The shower is broken and leaks, there is no plug for the bathtub, which I would not use anyway because it is extremely dirty and disgusts me. During our vacation, the hotel was undergoing noisy renovations at hours when people are supposed to be resting or taking an afternoon nap. We are not paying to be on a construction site. We have traveled over 6000 kilometers to rest and I receive questionable service. I wish luck and success to everyone who is planning a vacation in this hotel. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. P.S.: Don't expect AC in your room. Best that you are getting is a fan. Also the photos from their website are at least 8 years old. It doesn't correspond to the reality at all. If for some reason you decide to visit the hotel - take some power strips because there are 2 sockets in the room, one of which does not work. The TV is at least 10 years old (not smart TV), doesn't have many channels, all are in Portuguese, and don't expect "extras" such as Youtube and other modern platforms from this century.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. They made my birthday extra special by surprising me with a cake and champagne, which was such a thoughtful touch. The views were breathtaking, with stunning sea and mountain scenery. There was also great entertainment every day of the week, which made the stay even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return again
