The staff here are excellent. I feel so looked after. Manuela, Anna and Angela are exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I have a dietary requirement and Manuela talked me through the menu. Fantastic 😍 Hotel is beautiful and it's a great location overlooking the sea. Food is excellent and plentiful. Highly recommended!

We've have spent a week here and we had the best time. The location is amazing, right next to the beach. The two younger women at the reception were incredibly helpful and friendly and made sure we had a smooth check in and welcomed us so warmly. We appreciated their help regarding different informations about the resort policy and local transportation. We were welcomed with a taste of their local wine, which was so good, we bought three bottles to bring home 😅 The room was big, clean and nice. The bed was so comfortable and the view was just the best. The food and drinks (you have to try their sangria) offered were diverse, with different a theme for each day. I am a vegetarian and i must say that i had plenty of delicious food to eat, so if you are one too, i wouldn't worry. The staff in the eating area were also very friendly and helpful and made sure we had a pleasant experience. The terrace is big and nice, holding an amazing view. I really appreciated the dedicated smoking tables here, which are far enough from the others so you don't disturb the non-smoking guests, but still have an amazing view. They also have a nice pool and plenty of chairs in the pool area, as well as a sauna. All in all we had an amazing experience and will definitely choose this place if we get a chance to come back to Madeira. Special thanks to the hard working staff! ❤️

This is the second time we're staying here and I am extremely disappointed. First time when we were here with my family 9 years ago it was a wonderful experience, but this time I am straight up disgusted. The hotel is crying out for a major renovation, the rooms are dirty, the quality of the food is beyond criticism. Most of the staff do not speak English at all because they are from Asian countries such as India, Pakistan, Indonesia etc. The receptionists are not particularly adequate, they cannot provide accurate information about almost anything. Upon check-in, we found hairs in the bathroom around the sink, as well as on the sheets. The shower is broken and leaks, there is no plug for the bathtub, which I would not use anyway because it is extremely dirty and disgusts me. During our vacation, the hotel was undergoing noisy renovations at hours when people are supposed to be resting or taking an afternoon nap. We are not paying to be on a construction site. We have traveled over 6000 kilometers to rest and I receive questionable service. I wish luck and success to everyone who is planning a vacation in this hotel. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. P.S.: Don't expect AC in your room. Best that you are getting is a fan. Also the photos from their website are at least 8 years old. It doesn't correspond to the reality at all. If for some reason you decide to visit the hotel - take some power strips because there are 2 sockets in the room, one of which does not work. The TV is at least 10 years old (not smart TV), doesn't have many channels, all are in Portuguese, and don't expect "extras" such as Youtube and other modern platforms from this century.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Pestana Ocean Bay Resort and would like to say a special thank you to Manuela Garanito. Manuela is quite simply one of the nicest waitresses we have ever encountered. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and accommodated throughout our stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble, she always had a warm smile on her face, and her kindness and professionalism made a real difference to our holiday. The hotel itself was lovely, the food was wonderful, and the location is absolutely incredible, with beautiful views and a fantastic atmosphere. We would not hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Madeira. A heartfelt thank you to Manuela and all the team for making our stay so memorable. Before anything, I want to underline that I am leaving 1 star only because 0 stars (or negative rating) isn't possible. We are a family of four and this is our 2nd time staying at Pestana Ocean Bay. I must say that the quality dropped SIGNIFICANTLY and it's like day and night in comparison to what it was before. So don't really get tricked by old (and irrelevant at this point) reviews that push their overall rating up. The food is so bad that I wouldn't even feed a stray animal with it. It's of the lowest quality, prepared in a bad way, and a lot of times - RAW (especially lamb and beef). People on reception are most of the times clueless, can't give you proper information about anything, and just want to get you off of their heads as fast as possible. Alcohol is of very bad quality and you need to pay for half of the stuff on the menu, even tho we already paid for all-inclusive. Bartenders are with questionable hygiene and even a bit rude. If you want to park your car in front of the hotel, be prepared to pay 15€ per day, regardless of being their guest. The rooms are 4.5/10 at best, very gross bathroom with low hygiene, I am applying some photos of it below. Oh yeah, the cherry on top is that every day between 13:00 and 16:00 there was an ongoing re-construction on the ground & first floor, combined with endless, non-stop, very loud drilling. When we asked one of the workers when will they finish (he couldn't even understand us), he said to just talk with the reception. Everyone and their grandma know that most people take a rest or afternoon nap in the time of 14:00-16:00, but Pestana seem to not care at all. I had to remove the cheap and highly unpleasant plastic bracelet they are handing you on arrival and was told that I have to wear it if I am in the hotel and these are the rules, even tho I explained the reason why I CAN'T. TLDR: wouldn't recommend to anyone, cheap and bad food with no diversity, bad alcohol, bad service from the entire staff, low hygiene, 0/10 experience. Ruined our entire vacation. We have 2 more days before flying back home and can't wait for them to pass. Edit: the only person that gave us flawless service, and puts effort into their work is Manuela, very pleasant and diligent lady!
