We really enjoyed our stay. We had a sea view suite that was extremely clean and quiet with beautiful views. The staff was helpful with an easy check-in process. The location is in the heart of many other resorts so there were plenty of restaurants and even a grocery store and self-serve laundromat across the street. We also walked downtown to Funchal for a day from the resort. In the two afternoons we spent time at the pool, we easily got two seats with an umbrella - it wasn’t overcrowded. We really loved climbing down to access the sea from the resort!

We enjoyed our 8 nights stay at Hotel Pestana Vila Lido. The location was very convenient with a supermarket at the front of the hotel and an accessible car park. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Gabriel our reception porter was very friendly. The views are amazing and our hotel room on the 8th floor is to die for. What topped it of was the friendly guest relations officer Lisbeth Alburquerque who greeted everyone with a warm smile every morning at breakfast. That adds the human touch to staying there compared to other hotels. Will visit again!

Beautiful hotel in beatiful grounds. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful room with plenty of space and a great view over a garden and the Atlantic. The pool was clean. Plenty of sunloungers. Directly opposite the hotel is a fantastic supermarket. Has everything you would want and a great bakery. Great selection of sandwiches and salads. I went to use the fitness room and it is a reasonably good space. Lemon water on offer, towels, AC, a TV to connect to youtube for music. My only draw backs were: - Poolside bar. It is a very small area, not very many seats at all and doesn't feel entirely welcoming. Usually at the other hotel we stay at, we sit and have lunch by the pool but there is nowhere to do this here. - Location - It is in a beautiful sea front location but it is at the bottom of a steep hill. So if you struggle with mobility, I wouldn't recommend this for you. Also, I find that the area outside of the hotel grounds smells of sewage - particularly at the top of the hill. Feels a bit dirty and I wouldn't want to eat at any of the restaurants on the road outside of the hotel for this reason. - Path to the rooms - very dark on a night with no lighting mid way. - Outside bar area for evening - the area where the entertainment and evening seating was, is again very dark and off putting. All I could think of was how many cockroaches would be running among you. - having to get a lift to the pool. There are only 2 lifts, they are tiny and slow. So you can be waiting a good 5 minutes for the lift.

Just returned from the Pestana Vila Lido. We had a great time here with amazing views from our balcony. One of the best located hotels on the ocean! The staff was Excellent and super friendly especially Lisbeth, Fabio, Paolo and all the bar/restaurant staff. Leticia was one of the best at sports/injury massages I've ever had. Grounds and inside were kept very clean. Location to great restaurants, long Promenade walks, groceries (right across the street). Room was spacious with gorgeous views! The only minor thing was the bathroom tap was too short for the sink and the shower wand was worn where it wouldn't stay on the bar (not a big deal, guess I should have mentioned it to the front desk for future guests). I would definitely recommend this place and return in a heartbeat!

A wonderful experience! We stayed as a family with our 8-year-old child and were very happy with everything. The pool was clean, and there were always free sun loungers and umbrellas available. Our room was spacious and had a beautiful ocean view. The restaurant offered a great variety of food and excellent service. We chose the breakfast and dinner option, which was very convenient. The reception team were always friendly and willing to help. Fabio is the best. We would be happy to stay here again!
