We have just arrived home after spending a splendid week at the grand oasis. Take absolutely zero notice of previous bad reviews because they are nonsense. On arrival we were greeted and escorted to check in. It was very quick checking in and we were directed to our rooms which was a long walk as this hotel is a vast complex it's not just a hotel and restaurant. Our room was on the 6th floor and we had an ocean View which was lovely. The room itself was clean and although it wasn't huge it was easily large enough for two people especially due to the fact that there is so much entertainment within the complex there is no need to spend any time in the room other than what you would normally do in a bedroom. The elevators are very entertaining as they have a mind of their own but you do get to your correct floor eventually. Our room was refreshed daily however the only minus point was coffee not replaced but if you ask that reception they would supply coffee or slip a cleaner $1 and you can have coffee. Coffee machine work lovely and also an ironing board and iron were supplied. The air conditioning works extremely well and is quiet. If there is more than one person staying allow the toilet 10 minutes to fill up with water otherwise it doesn't flush. We had the all-inclusive blue band which is standard and doesn't allow you entry to gourmet restaurants we knew this in advance however if you want to upgrade it is very simple to do so but everybody we spoke to who had upgraded commented that it wasn't worth the upgrade as the buffet restaurant included with the blue band was suitable. We dying in the Tatish buffet restaurant regularly and found the food very varied and of a good standard for such a high turnover of customers. Some of the food in the restaurant isn't always hot but what can you expect when they're feeding 500 covers per hour. The whole complex is very well run and all and I repeat all of the staff whatever their job is were extremely friendly very helpful and always available for any advice. This complex caters for all ages from one week old to 188 years old. Basically if you don't like the entertainment in one part of the hotel go somewhere else in the hotel. The grand oasis is located directly on the beach which is of top quality and there is always lifeguards on duty as the Caribbean Sea can be a little choppy. Smoking is permitted within the hotel we just recommend if you are a smoker be polite and respectful of those who aren't. There are quite a lot of birds on this site which include beautiful peacocks and pea hens doves and white ibis be mindful of the fact that if you do use the outside dining these birds are likely to jump on the table and eat your food from your hand you only have to wave them away and they are gone. Everywhere you walk within this massive complex there is somewhere to eat and a bar even in the swimming pool you can get a drink while you are swimming. So in summary from a couple that have had many holidays in many different countries and hotels this is one of the very best we have ever been to. We would be delighted to return however the only reason we won't is because we live in England and Cancun is halfway around the world for us. This is true and honest review from very satisfied customers.

Moral of the story: Save your money and save your time.
Worst experience ever. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND. No amount of money is worth it. Unclean. Unkept. Untidy. UNSAFE. Extremely old building. Telephone broken in room. AC unit not working and words in Chinese. The drain in the bathtub was clogged and created a large pool of water during use. Nothing was fixed until about 3 days into our vacation. Housekeeping picked and chose what days THEY want to clean rather than daily. Only water restocked in the fridge every other day. Never received any new washcloths or towels until I went hunting for some in the morning which they were hesitant to give me. I called for room service on day 4 after they finally fixed our phone and requested 2 cokes. When they came to my room, I was charged $22 dollars! The drinks from the bars and restaurants were all gross and watered down to the point we had to go to the store outside of the hotel and only ask the hotel for cups of ice to use our own drinks. The ice cream places were gross and tasted like gas. The place overall sucks and we just stopped wasting our time and got ready everything morning to leave and go on our own adventures. DEFINITELY NOT AN ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT. NEVER have I ever left an all inclusive resort in the past unless for excursions. I could write a book. Moral of the story: Save your money and save your time.

I was super nervous about our trip to grand oasis due to all the negative reviews and all I can say is please don’t listen to any of them, people obviously just like to complain about every little thing, I’m sure some people did have issues with things as per life when you’re traveling.
This resort is absolutely beautiful the beach is amazing, the food is great, yes there are lines and wait time during check in and for the Buffett depending on the time you go.
All the staff is super friendly and helpful our room was cleaned daily if we wanted, I seen lots of comments about the rooms being outdated. No they aren’t brand new renovated rooms but they are clean, comfy and perfect for the small amount of time you spend in them.

I wanted to add details about my trip.
it was supposed to be quiet time for my husband and I.
our shower never worked it was hot or it was cold the bathroom door didn't shut there was a leak in the bathroom that dripped
we did call maintenance they fixed the drip and the bathroom door but the shower was always hot or cold never in between.
we were there for an all-inclusive, there were a couple of restaurants we had to pay for to enjoy that weren't included.
one was the ice cream shop gelato and me
we were literally asked to leave because our arm wristband wasn't the right color, when we checked in we were told we could pay for it and we intended to pay for it but the girl in there rudely told us she was not going to serve us.
completely humiliating and embarrassing.
we went down to the concierge service and talked to Diego He did give us a different color wristband and told the ice cream shop girl to serve us.
but the damage and the embarrassment was already done.
we were also kicked out of a restaurant because my husband was wearing a tank top which was disgusting since there are women in there wearing bikinis with their boobs and butts hanging out.
we participated in the pitch to buy into a vacation for there. truly glad we did not sign up. we basically did it so that we could go see the Mayan temple at a cheaper price. which to be honest it wasn't a cheaper price because when we got on the bus we had to pay another $40. each. I feel like it was all a scam to take as much money from us as possible.
Don't get me wrong I was there to spend money and had money to spend but to be cheated and robbed was not part of my deal.
on top of all the hardships inside the hotel ,restaurants and ice cream shops .
The day we spent on the beach we watched and witnessed somebody drowned and die. Also not a good time.

We booked 11 days here for a get away. It was a total waste of money and absolutely filthy!
Cleaning-
The sheets were all stained up, sand all over the room including in the tub, fake nails were on the night table,the closet was filled with dust. I can say they have never cleaned by the night stands or under the bed with the amount of dust and sand before we arrived.
The rooms were so small we couldn't even move. They put us on the loudest side of the hotel after being told we would have ocean view...you only get that if you upgrade again. Do not buy into the all inclusive package because it is nothing to what it says. One other family we spoke with was so upset they booked 2 weeks had to upgrade from the party side to the ocean the doors don't lock or even close, they had access to only 2 restaurants.
No housekeeping was done even though we had the request on the door. We had to ask 3 times for a cot. By day 2 we wanted to leave. The package was supposed to include restaurants we got one buffet which was good until day 6 of the same food.
People drunk yelling in the hallway fighting at 2 am. Toilets overflowing into the halls so we could enjoy the sewage smell on the same floor.
After speaking to the manager about the cockroach problem we had assured us someone would be up to clean. A man came to the door with a can of raid! No apology for any of the concerns brought up. So yup we get to go back from our trip and have everything we brought properly sanitized so our home isnt infested.

A Wonderful Family Vacation with Exceptional Staff
We took our family to Barceló Allegro Playacar for the first time this past December and were extremely pleased with our stay. The staff was consistently happy, friendly, and attentive, going out of their way to make our vacation special—especially for our 2-year-old grandson.
We’ve stayed at other Barceló resorts before, but this was our first visit here and it truly stood out. The food was perfect for a large group, with great buffet variety and enjoyable restaurants—especially the Italian restaurant. We loved the beach activities, including catamarans, corn hole, and ladder ball.
Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and conveniently located near both the pool and the beach. While smaller than other Barceló resorts we’ve stayed at, the excellent AC and cleanliness more than made up for it.
A special thank you to Alejandro Mis, who served us at lunch daily and always greeted us with a smile (and ice cream!), and to Gerson Arco for being so kind to our family in the evenings. Housekeeping was also outstanding.
We made wonderful family memories and truly appreciate the resort and its amazing staff for such a memorable family vacation. We hope to return again!

Our 3rd visit in 3 years, and would definitely return again. Extremely nice smaller resort. Great costumer service. We enjoy their food more than the larger resorts, it is more tasty/flavorful. After a few days the bartenders know our drink preferences, and are super friendly, as are the entire service staff. Very clean rooms and well kept grounds. Very relaxing. Entertainment staff is extremely friendly and tries to involve daily participation. Good wifi throughout.

I recently stayed at the Allegro, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with some room for improvement.
The Highlights
• The Atmosphere: One of the best things about this hotel is that it doesn’t feel like a "factory." It has a great scale and a cozy feel.
• The Staff: The people working here are incredibly nice and friendly. They genuinely contribute to the positive energy of the place.
• Location: The location is excellent—you are only a 30-minute walk from the center of Playa del Carmen, which makes it easy to explore the town without needing a taxi every time.
• The Rooms: The rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable.
The Challenges
• Water Issues: We experienced several issues with the water during our stay. After talking to other guests, it seems like this is a common problem at this property that needs to be addressed.
• The Booking System: There are three themed restaurants (Oriental, Italian, and Mexican) which are actually quite good. However, you have to book the same day starting at 9:00 AM. We once spent 45 minutes waiting in line just to make a reservation, which is not how you want to spend your vacation time.
• Dining Quality: The food could be better, especially the bread, pastries, and desserts, which were quite underwhelming.

Nice resort for a stay with family and friends. Food is quite good, although a wider variety would be much appreciated. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. The beach is quite big, with lots of space for the family, although a little bit more of shade would be great. There’s a kids club well equipped for the little ones, my kid enjoyed it a lot
The entertainment/animation staff were also very friendly and had several activities to keep the guests entertained (bingo, trivia, contests, among others). Annet and Angel were great at this area!

The Good: Exceptional Staff
The staff at Hotel Allegro truly made our stay memorable. From check-in to departure, every team member we encountered was incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely hospitable. Their attentiveness and positive attitude stood out, and it’s clear the hotel invests in creating a welcoming culture. This was by far the highlight of our experience.
The Disappointing: Service Animal Policy
Unfortunately, we encountered a significant issue with the hotel’s service animal policy. Despite having a legitimate service animal and the property having adequate space to accommodate dogs, the hotel refused entry. This was not only disappointing but also deeply distressing for our family. Hotels should be aware of and compliant with service animal regulations, and this experience fell well short of expectations.
The Concerning: Food Quality & Health
While the food was acceptable in taste, we had serious concerns about quality and variety. Five members of my family experienced food poisoning during the first few days of our stay, which significantly impacted our vacation. Additionally, the menu was heavily dominated by fried and high-fat options with limited healthy alternatives. For guests with dietary preferences or restrictions, this could be challenging.
Overall Verdict: The wonderful staff couldn’t fully compensate for the service animal refusal and food safety issues we experienced. While I appreciate the hospitality and friendliness of the team, the other concerns—particularly the health-related issues; make it difficult to recommend this property without reservation.
I hope management addresses these areas for future guests.

For almost half of the price of other all inclusives that we were quoted by our travel agent, this resort was “good enough”. We have been to many 5 star resorts and this wasn’t too far off besides some missing amenities (not much for kids to do) The resort is small but nice and clean. Food options are limited but sufficient. We all stuck to fully cooked foods and none of us got sick in our immediate family. I would suggest more traditional Mexican food as we missed proper tacos and had to find these off resort. The staff was very helpful with my celiac dietary restrictions as well. The resort is right off a nice walking trail and next to the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Great trip overall!

Overall decent stay at occidental costa cancun to escape the Canadian winter in the last week of January. The weather wasn’t the greatest chilly but that was beyond our control. Hotel is well kept, clean and maintained all over the property. My kids really enjoyed the kids club with Janelle. She was so kind, patient and bonus that she spoke English. Lots of great food options, shows and entertainment. Beach is small but nice and pool is well kept with a shallow pool too.

We had Vanily as our server, he was fun fast and knowledgeable about the menu Food was full of flavor great presentation and plentiful. I can't say enough praise for the level of service we received.
Capitan Sergio had a great presentation of making this hot sauce with fresh vegetables spices and peppers and he mixed it up with a mortar and pestle.
Hot sauce was fantastic. The entire meal was excellent. We stayed and talked and we were never rushed. I asked Vanily and Sergio if they needed the table and they just said no enjoy your time here.
The whole experience was fun and energetic.
This is a must if you are here . I highly recommend Mexico Lindo

This is our second time here. My family and I saw many improvements in service, cleanliness, and variety of food. The food was delicious everywhere. Our favorite was the buffet. I asked the staff to arrange a little surprise for my wife and daughter for their birthdays, and they exceeded my expectations. Special thanks to "Captain Mario," Alfredo, Luis, and others. We were very happy there and felt their warm Mexican welcome every morning! We arrived at 8:30 AM and were supposed to check in at 4 PM. The staff was very nice to us, letting us check in pretty much right away. I kindly asked them to provide at least one room on the first floor for my mother, who has a walking disability, and they managed to find both rooms for us. There was no extra charge for early check-in or room choice. Highly appreciated. Everything deserves 5 stars. The only thing I didn't like was that the beach is rather small, but I didn't see how they could improve it; the location allowed them only so much, but we still liked it. The jet ski rental guys were fixing their rigs almost every day, causing a smell of gas and exhaust.

Carlo was absolutely incredible during our stay and made a huge difference for my mother-in-law and her friends. My mother-in-law is Muslim and wasn’t comfortable eating at the buffet due to religious dietary restrictions (pork being present), and Carlo handled everything with so much kindness, respect, and genuine care.
He went above and beyond by speaking with the kitchen and arranging fresh seafood meals for her, which made her feel comfortable, welcomed, and looked after every day. It was such a thoughtful and special experience, and it honestly took a lot of stress away from our trip.
Thank you so much, Carlo, for making this resort experience so smooth and enjoyable for them. People with religious restrictions often struggle while traveling, and your support meant everything. Highly recommend and truly appreciate you! 🙏✨

We just returned from an amazing week at this beautiful resort. We met so many wonderful people, but the staff truly stood out. Arbey and the rest of the events team, including JD, Diego, and Mili, were exceptional. Arbey went above and beyond, making our vacation feel truly special and memorable. The events team kept us engaged and entertained by the pool and beach, ensuring each day was a blast. The resort was the perfect size, never feeling crowded. The food was delicious, and we always found something tasty to enjoy. The oriental hibachi restaurant was our favourite à la cart dinner option, which was very entertaining and delicious.

We came down to stay at Allegro Resort for the first time, with our kids and our parents. We've been here for 9 days so far and wow - we LOVE IT!! We were nervous after booking our trip because since booking have seen lots of negative reviews - which is why I am sharing this now.
Let's start with the food. This is honestly the BEST food we've had at any all inclusive we've been at before. Our kids are 7 and 8, and they were very happy with the food, and us adults were pleased as well. We went to the Oriental a-la-carte twice, and it was incredible as well! I'm not sure why people are so negative about the food here - I'm assuming they're mostly extremely picky eaters or unhappy with most dining experiences in general. Don't listen to the bad reviews when it comes to the food.
The beach - WOW!!!!!! It feels like paradise. Every time I enter the water I feel extreme gratefulness and I'm in awe of how clear the water is. The sand is beautiful, and the ocean floor when entering the water is sandy - we never had to use our water shoes. You could see so clearly - you never had to worry about stepping on anything dangerous etc. Usually when we go to a resort we only spend a day or two at the beach - but this trip we find ourselves at the beach every single day. The beach was awesome for snorkelling as well. My kids never got bored there. Itzel was the server who walked the beach everyday that we were here and she is the best!! She made sure everyone had a drink at all times!
Speaking of the Staff - everyone has been incredible. Very kind, personable, and some even remembered our names! From the bartenders to the servers, groundsmen, housekeepers, cooks, entertainers, you name it - all of the staff here are 10/10.
The only negative I'd say about the resort is that the rooms are quite small, and there is a lack of dressers / shelves to unpack and keep things organized. However, it did not ruin our vacation at all. We did not upgrade our room at all - I am not sure if the upgraded rooms have dressers etc to rectify that minor problem.
We would absolutely stay here again. What a perfect trip we've had. ALSO special mention - Go to Alberto's (3 min away) for the best night ever!! 🤣🤣 Bring your Advil and water bottle for the following day lol.

We stayed with the premium package. The poolside service at the premium pool was not great this year compared to 4 years ago when Henri waited on us. We were only waited on poolside a couple times, until we left the premium pool and went to the main pool with the swim up bar and went were waited on consistently by a nice lady named Dana.
The food on the resort is very mid, nothing spectacular. Having a buffet is nice, the food at the flat top in the back of the buffet is very good. We had the Italian restaurant experience and it was only okay. If you want great Mexican food, go across the street to iguanas. Amazing service, very good tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, etc.
We celebrated a birthday here this week and Arbey went above and beyond to make it a special night for our birthday girl and even went and bought a cake with his own time and money. We remember Arbey from our first time here, and he is such a bright person and friendly face. We can’t wait to see him again. He is also a very great entertainer and has amazing energy.
The over all stay is amazing. The beach is beautiful. The rooms are clean and neat and every employee I encountered is friendly and happy.

As a family of 4 with 2 kids, ages 5 and 9, I can say the family had a good time during our vacation in Feb 2026. Kids club personnel was amazing they took good care of the kids, taught them some new skills like making keychains out of beads in the shape of lizards, spotting iguanas all around the resort etc… Poolside activities were again engaging, personnel was again friendly and entertaining. Beach was amazing ocean and sand combo just like in the postcards. Evening shows were of a nice variety and pleasant, kids as wells as adults can all enjoy them. Our only issue was mainly food here in this hotel, it was so the exact opposite of appetizing, salads other more appealing food offerings were in rotation and unfortunately quality was not a standard. And if you are having a late dinner for example, some of the good gems might be long gone without replacements. There are 3 restaurants other than open buffet one. Per 3 day stay you are elligible for 1 reservation at these 3, oriental which is Japanese tepenyaki, Italian and Mexican. Our least favorite one was Italian, Japanese Tepenyaki experience was amazing though. Mexican is so so, not over the board but much better than open buffet!
Our room was on a second floor, room services was neat and on daily basis we were provided fresh towels neat cleaning & tidying with fresh flowers on our beds so kudos to rooms service teams! however there are 4 units per floor in a building and all units share the same hay roof so you can practically hear anything any of your neighbors talk about on your floor, this was only the case for 2nd floor rooms though but quite annoying to be honest.
Lastly mosquitoes were really annoying, we bought Off from the store at the lobby. Still got bitten many times. If you can pack your own healthier kid-friendlier mosquito solution from the mainland I’d highly recommend that.

Wonderful resort with excellent service, plenty of activities and great people. Diego is great. Very engaging and puts on great activities!! The activity pool is the place to be and Arbi is also really fun. The guitarist and sports bar was a great place to meet others. And last but not least was the beach!!! Absolutely amazing. Other reviews talk about the food but that’s not unusual with inclusive resorts. We found something the eat every meal that was really good!

This was my first time at Barcelo Maya Beach and my wife and I had an amazing week. The resort is massive but very well laid out and easy to navigate. The beach is beautiful, very well manicured and plenty of palm trees for shade. The water is a little rocky until about 20-30 feet out and then it’s smooth white sand, goes from about waist deep to shoulder deep. Nice clean pools, they look almost brand new. Room was tidy and minibar restocked daily. The dining is excellent, we particularly enjoyed Tokyo and La Trattoria, and the buffets are pretty good too. Staff are friendly and helpful. We will certainly be returning to Barcelo in the future!

I have been to this property 18 times and for years avoided the Mexico Lindo restaurant. Now I know that I have been missing out! The atmosphere is my favorite on the entire property, absolutely beautiful! Javier Muñoz is the manager and he has prepared his staff with excellence! Linsey the hostess was kind, professional, and a true delight. Best Mango margaritas and sueros made by the bartender! And our server Salvador and Miguel were on point with the absolute best service! My experience in the hotel was fantastic and Faustina ,guillermo was soo gentle,attentive and nice serving us and at the same time they felt like family and they knew exactly how many I was going to drinks my taquila.
Luis was so so helpful with getting us a taxi and other information loved the service and attentive.
Carlos from the snack bar was soo gentle, cute and attentive very good service.
Everyone has been amazing and it made me feel like home once again coming here in Mexico.

The positive parts: the beach was beautiful, there were kids’ areas, the rooms were more or less comfortable, and the evening shows were really nice — that was probably the best part of our stay.
However, this is supposed to be a 4-star hotel, but with this level of service it honestly feels more like 2 stars.
The food was very repetitive every day and often cold. In the mornings, no one made coffee or tea for you — you had to stand in long lines yourself. We were never able to visit the restaurants that required reservations because their online booking system didn’t work properly. It always showed available times, but it was impossible to actually book anything.
The weather wasn’t great, so most people stayed inside eating, which caused huge lines — about 30 minutes just to enter a restaurant. When you finally got in, sometimes the tables weren’t ready, and other times staff simply ignored you when you needed something. The waiters were clearly overwhelmed — there were far too few of them for the number of guests.
During the last days of our stay, my child got sick, and I urgently needed water for drinking and making tea. Water was not delivered to our room. At the coffee station, the staff looked very unhappy because there were long lines there too. My husband waited 30 minutes just to get tea, and they told him there was no water. At that point I was extremely upset — he had to go to a store to buy water because the hotel couldn’t provide it.
My recommendation to this hotel: either hire more staff so your guests feel comfortable and leave good reviews, or stop overbooking the hotel. Even outside, there was nowhere to sit.

Oh my gosh, avoid this place at all costs. It was dirty, noisy, drunk people throwing up next to us and getting into fights! Our room smelled! It was so bad that we left and went to another place and ate the cost!! Cost us 640.00 of cancelled fees but we just couldn’t stay! The drink we got on the beach made my stomach feel really bad. The burger tasted funky. The pools were full of dead leaves. I had read the reviews before going but no one warned us of this so hope this saves you from what we endured for one night there. The service people are nice but not really helpful and they charged us for the environmental tax and did not refund when we checked out early. Definitely do not recommend.

Grand Oasis Palm Resort was, unfortunately, one of the worst resorts we’ve ever stayed at. We’ve been to Mexico a handful of times and never had any issues, but this one left all us a bitter taste in our mouth. We were done with this vacation after acouple nights in. And all so happy to be back home in the cold.
From the moment we arrived at around midnight everything went downhill. The first receptionist told my mother that her room wasn’t ready yet, but that it would be in the same building as us, just on a different floor. We were all given blue bracelets, and then she told my mom to go to a different lobby to check in. This made absolutely no sense especially at midnight, when rooms should already be cleaned and prepared, and when the rest of us had just been checked in without issue.
When we went to the other lobby, the receptionist there was completely confused as to why my mother had been sent over. After checking the system, they told us that her room had actually been ready the entire time, and that the first receptionist had simply given her the wrong color bracelet.
At that point, we asked the second receptionist to double-check our information as well thankfully we did. It turns out the first receptionist had given us a room number that doesn’t even exist.
We came as a group of 11, and getting restaurant reservations was impossible. Reservations had to be made through an app, and every single day, all of us tried booking the moment they opened only to be rejected every time. Reservations were supposedly available 24–48 hours in advance at 8:00 a.m., and we literally watched the clock go from 7:59 to 8:00 just to get denied again. Extremely disappointing and frustrating.
The buffet food was the exact same every day, and the pictures are completely deceiving. There were long lineups everywhere, even when there were empty tables. To top it off, during our entire 7-day stay, we were never served once.
Oh, and to top it all off, the water in our rooms smelled like death. Absolutely unacceptable.

This has been my 5th time in mexico and of all the times I've visited this beautiful country, this was by far the worst resort I've been to by far. I feel as though they are drastically understaffed and mismanaged, resulting in extremely poor service for guests.
During my week long stay, it quickly became very clear that there is an absurd wait time for everything. When at the beach, they only had one server distributing drinks, easily creating 30+ minutes wait times to acquire drinks. There was also a lack of foldable chairs for the guests and the shore is not swept. Back to wait times, it is drastically worse when attending the buffets. Wait times easily exceed an hour. When you are finally seated, more often than not, you are not provided any form of service. The dumbest thing my group and I noticed is that despite the numerous amounts of people that wait in line, a good quarter of the tables would remain vacant. These tables were not for special reservations or anything along those lines, so when people were waiting in line, these seats could easily be filled.
On the topic of restaurants, attempting to book reservations is next to impossible. You are required to use their app to book reservations, which opens at 8am. At exactly 8am, my group and I were unable to book reservations. Youre able to book a reservation two days in advanced, but numerous guests at the resort, as well as the group I traveled with were unable to make reservations for the most part. This would result in limited options as far as where you can eat. If you are staying at the grand oasis palm, you have an option of two a la carte restaurants to choose from, IF youre able to reserve it. There are several a la cartes to choose from if youre staying at the grand oasis palm, BUT you have to pay for it. If you are staying at the Sens, you have more variety, but it is still a challenge to make a reservation.
There are so many other resorts to choose from. This is not the place to go unless youre a fan of poor service and long wait times

This was advertised as a 'family' 4 star resort. This was a very disappointing stay.
The wait time for seating in the buffet was half hour or more; too long for children to wait. The food was not great. The sauces were watered down and tasteless. There were no small spoons for children to use. Eating yogurt with a fork was a challenge.
The play equipment was not safe ... broken and rusty.
Our house keeping was great but other staff had limited English.
Apparently guests from the neighbouring hotel used the Palm buffet and beach. This made it very over crowded.
The staff at the sports bar were the same staff working other activities and we had to sign back in the game we were only half finished with.
Wait time in line at the coffee bar was over half hour due to lack of staff.
The Pina colada drinks were not authentic and tasted strange.
We would not recommend this resort to anyone.
We are shocked that Aircanada would have this as one of their vacation packages.

This resort was fun to be at, staff were friendly and helpful. The location on the peach and the various pools were great to swim in. Food was quick and always good. Never a complaint from our group of 6 about the food/drink service at the resort.
The main downside was the maintenance required for the resort and the rooms did not seem top notch. Some older rooms had AC issues, plumbing was less than ideal but always seems to work even at low water pressure.
The cleaning staff always changed the AC temperature, seemed to leave the sliding balcony door unlocked after we locked it, and sometimes did not replace towels or pillows during the cleaning. We had to ask for our pillows to be replaced at 10pm and our travel partners had to request towels, water, and minor maintenance.
The staff was always positive and wanted to provide a good experience, despite knowing that the building quality was not top notch.

Nature is beautiful, beach is great and everything on territory was extra clean. Food could be a bit better, sometimes was too salty or tasteless, but in general was very good quality of products and lots of choices.
Was not so happy with my manicure but problem was fixed and I was satisfied with the solution.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and will be happy to come back)

We cannot convey in words our total disappointment…we planned this family vacation for years. We had 5 family milestones we were celebrating:
1. 25 years of marriage
2. A Retirement
3. A College Master’s completion
4. 2 college graduations
We do have some treasured memories that occurred; we made the best out of a bad situation but NONE of our stay met our expectations. We will not be staying at a Hyatt anywhere anytime soon.
1. Upon arriving at the resort, we were overcome by the smell of raw sewage near the front entrance & while entering/exiting our room on a daily basis.
3. Check in, at 12:30 am due to late airline flights, customs & waiting for taxi, we were only provided with 2 of our 3 rooms as 2 of our party were delayed with canceled flights & their names were on the room. We prepaid for 3 rooms for 6 nights but only got 5. We were shorted $3000!!!! with no apologies!!
4. Although we checked in with 3 & 4 people respectively for the 2 rooms, there was only 1 towel in each room! No washcloths, no hand towels, no bath mat. We received towels after calling housekeeping that were seriously frayed, thin & worn. We had to ask for towels every day of our stay.
5. Our room was freezing! 60 degrees! We had to sleep in our clothes because the AC was faulty.
6. There were so many other things wrong, we've filed a complaint. This space doesn't allow all of it. I do have pictures but I'm not going to put them on here.

The resort was older but they were always maintaining the grounds. The rooms were very loud and you could here every noise especially when they were fixing the grounds at 7am. The beach was very clean and always beautiful with free paddle boards and small boats. They even had sting ray that would swim up that they fed. The pool and bars looked nice but the service unfortunately lacked very often. Food has no variety but a edible and they did provide one beach dinner with entertainers that was nice. There were a few servers who really tried hard and went above and beyond but the majority were just really tired, seemed bored, and were waiting to go home. You didn't feel the enjoyed having you there most times. I think if they stepped up the service the resort would be so much more welcoming and a better overall time. Not really premium liquor even when upgrading to club room. Initial room was awful upgraded room was nicer. Room service was OK not always on time. Great views though and if you just enjoy the people you with you'll have a great time.

Positives:
- Service amazing from bar staff and waiters, as soon as it hit 11am, the servers were off offering everyone drinks by the pool, and by no means expected any tips.
- Housekeeping attended every day without fail, including topping up of the mini bar.
- Really good location, right on the main strip of lots of bars and shops.
- Restaurants really nice, other than that I found the menu for the mexican very limited. But otherwise, buffet has lots of variety, even at breakfast, grill restaurant has a great menu and food, and our favourite being the italian. Also loved the quick delights and coffee shop available.
Negatives:
- Guests constantly hogging loungers with their towels first thing in the morning even though they woun't be seen for hours. There is a sign stating not to reserve loungers with towels or belongings unless in use, but sadly this is not enforced by the hotel at all. If you are not one to get up early, you absolutely will not get a lounger for the day, they were usually all gone by 09:00-10:00am. Really wished the hotel would enforce this one, as we were always up early (like 8am) and even then there were few left but no guests outside.
- If you are looking for a beach resort, I would not reccomend this hotel. For me it was not a problem as I saw from the reviews and usually spend more time at the pool. But there is no beach other than a tiny strip which is covered in rocks, making it completely inaccessable, and this area is also at the other end of the hotel, so no access to the pizza and entertainment whilst you lounge.
- Reception not very helpful or polite (unlike the the rest of the team) .. they advised there is no laundry service, even though advised online there is - meaning I had nothing warm to wear back to the UK (being 0 degrees) other than some small skirts and dresses. Also when our transport did not arrive they just handed me the phone, felt like they could've helped a bit more considering they speak spanish/ have numbers etc.
All in all, we had a lovely stay and that really was due to the amazing staff and lovely food. Would definitely stay again but I do feel there are improvements to be made.

I recently stayed at this resort for 5 days, and overall it was a very enjoyable experience. The property is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers a relaxing atmosphere — perfect for a short getaway.
My room was comfortable and clean, with good amenities. Housekeeping did a great job throughout my stay, and the resort staff were friendly and welcoming. The environment felt peaceful and safe, which made the trip even better.The food was generally good, especially breakfast, which had plenty of options. The pool and beach areas were lovely, and there were enough activities to keep things interesting without feeling overwhelming. I appreciated that everything was easy to access and organized. Despite the small setbacks, the overall vibe, cleanliness, and scenery made this trip memorable. It’s a great option for anyone looking for comfort, relaxation, and quality time away.

Absolutely loved this place! Great location, so you can check out Playa del Carmen easily. The staff is top notch, Jannika is the star of the hotel, we loved her so much! Sebastian at the bar was our favorite bartender. The sushi place was great, so was the steak house, but the Mexican restaurant in the hotel was the best. Housekeeping was outstanding, our room was spotless every day. I can’t say enough good things about this place. To say again, the staff really made this stay special!!

Fantastic hotel!
Great location, rooms are big and clean with a private balcony. The staff were amazing, they really made an effort to talk to you and make sure you were happy. The all-inclusive food and drink options were amazing, plenty of choice and good quality. I was originally concerned when booking that the beach was small but they have a lovely pool area and there are public beaches only a short walk away so don't let that put you off.
Great value for money, I'd definitely return to this hotel!

The resort's Santorini-like exterior is stunning. While visiting in January meant the beachfront was closed due to high tides, a pleasant, few-minute walk just outside the property led us to a beautiful, accessible shoreline. It was also incredibly convenient for souvenir shopping, with a strip of stalls literally just one block away.
As Playa del Carmen is known for its vibrant nightlife, expect some energetic atmosphere. One night, I went to bed and woke up to music from the bar nearby, great if you're in the mood for it, but light sleepers may want to pack earplugs or request a quieter room.
For an all-inclusive, note that premium-brand alcohol is an extra charge. The true highlight was the exceptional staff and their fun, scheduled activities. The doorman was always welcoming, and activity hosts Carlos and David were fantastic entertainers who made our trip a great experience! We loved the mezcalita class, foam party, and karaoke night.
The buffet food was genuinely good, but the standout was the on-site Mexican restaurant, Zarape—the best food of the trip, served by the wonderful and fun server, Julius.
The guest demographic skewed a bit older. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it!

We had an amazing stay at Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe and truly enjoyed every moment. The hotel is excellent in every aspect — the cleanliness is outstanding, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is exceptionally kind and attentive.
The restaurants are of very high quality, offering delicious food and a great variety of options. Every staff member we encountered greeted us with a smile and was always happy to assist with anything we needed.
The ocean view is absolutely breathtaking, and the hotel has direct access to a beautiful beach. We especially appreciated that the beach is cleaned every morning, keeping it neat, organized, and pleasant throughout the day.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end, and we will definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

Great customer services by all personnel. Our family loved this Hilton location, great food, room cleanliness, amazing staff and kids friendly atmosphere. My kids loved the kids area all the staff very friendly, they offer daily activities and they follow great safety regulations for families with kids. It’s a safe location for families, travelers solo and friends. We enjoy so much the restaurants on site specially the buffet at Vela serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food variety and tasty flavors were offered in this place. We enjoy meeting the executive Chef an amazing talented woman full of culinary creativity and great customer services to all guests. Another remarkable hotel staff from Vela goes to Samuel Capul took care of our family offering amazing service and making us feel welcome at all times. This hotel is great. Great service, attentive service staff and helpful. Only minor issues were needed to request more hand soap, body gel and tissues for our room. The speciality restaurants were nice. In our experience the Maxal was the best. Our server was Orlando and he took really good care of us. The hostess was the only hostess to put our napkins on our laps. La Luce was also very nice. The Vela was terrific with a great assortment of foods to select for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were Enclave status guests and we enjoyed extra perks. Highly recommend the spa for hydro sessions and massage suggest requesting Shelia or Janeth, both exceptional. The beauty salon was nice too, suggest requesting Lidia for any hair service. This is a beautiful resort with plenty to enjoy during the day and great entertainment in the evening. Will return again.

I would like to give a huge shout out to the staff at the kids club! We stayed there from Feb 2-9th. They made my daughter feel so comfortable there. She was asking to go every day! Their programming was so fun and had all my daughters favorite activities like freeze dance and floor is lava. They made the cutest cultural crafts which ended up being our favorite souvenirs. On our last day they gave her a sweet card and a keychain to remember her vacation! The whole hotel is lovely but I would go back just for the staff at the kids club!

We had a fantastic stay at the Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe and would absolutely return. From the moment we arrived, the level of service stood out. The staff consistently went above and beyond to make sure every detail of our stay was comfortable and seamless.
A special thank-you to Kevin and Orlando by the pool — they were attentive, professional, and incredibly friendly without ever being intrusive. They anticipated needs before we even had to ask and helped create a relaxing atmosphere that elevated the entire experience. Over at the Enclave Bar, Santos and Sergio delivered the same high-caliber service. Their hospitality, efficiency, and genuine warmth did not go unnoticed. It is clear this resort prioritizes hiring people who care about guest experience.
The food was above average across the board, with plenty of variety and quality that exceeded what we typically expect from an all-inclusive property. We were consistently pleased with our meals.
Our room was another highlight — spacious, modern, and extremely comfortable. It was thoughtfully stocked with snacks and bottled waters, all included, which made it easy to settle in immediately. The daily turndown service was a classy touch that added to the feeling of being well cared for.
Overall, this property strikes an excellent balance between comfort, quality, and service. If you are looking for a resort where the staff truly makes the difference, Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe delivers.

Experience was great all around. All you need is 3 days here. It gets a bit repetitive with the activities. The bell men were funny and gave great service. I highly recommend Luis and Hebert. They were the kindest human beings. Overall, my husband and I had a great time.

We had a fabulous experience. The staff was amazing and we loved the fun party atmosphere. Khris Jones at Sutra is magnificent! Also Ivan at Amores is top notch! We loved the sexy playmakers Wild, Cowboy, Chocolate, Raphael, Daniel and Dehli. Our servers at the pool were awesome! Natali served our drinks with a smile and Benjamin too. Our bartenders Freddy and Jose at Bash were great as well. We enjoyed our delicious omlettes made by Gloria and our bellboy Alfredo was very helpful. We definitely want to visit again soon.

The Sutra team was absolutely amazing! Christian Reyes, Jesus, Lorenzo, jones and Juan Lee were so attentive, kind, and genuinely sweet throughout the night. They even sang happy birthday to my sister, which made her feel extra special and truly celebrated.
Chef Angel was hilarious and kept the entire show fun, energetic, and engaging from start to finish. I also have a food allergy, and he made sure my meal was prepared separately and safely — which I really appreciated.
Overall, the experience was top-tier. The staff truly goes above and beyond. I 100% recommend Sutra! ✨

First-timer review — take it or leave it, just my opinion!
The people: 10/10, no notes. We met SO many amazing people and had an absolute blast. Never felt pressured, never felt creeped out—just good vibes all around. The playmakers especially deserve a raise because they really tried their hardest to keep the party alive at all times.
Now… the resort. 😬
Respectfully, she is tired. Maintenance clearly took a long vacation because things were broken everywhere—public bathroom handles hanging on for dear life, dirt in places dirt should not be, and missing tiles all around the pool bar like a bad game of Jenga.
We booked the plush jacuzzi room and were excited to use it one night… until the water came out yellow. And not a cute yellow. It was giving “absolutely not,” it was giving yeast infection, it was giving drain the tub immediately.
Food was fine. Nothing to write home about, but it kept us breathing.
Overall verdict: the party and people were elite, but the resort itself was very much not it. If anyone knows of a higher-end resort with the same vibe (but, like, clean), please let a girl know 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

I really wanted to love this resort. The theme and concept are genuinely fun and unique, and it’s clear that a lot of creativity went into the design of the place. Unfortunately, beyond the theme, our experience didn’t live up to the premium pricing or expectations.
Let me start with the bright spot: the buffet. Normally buffets are the “backup plan,” but here it was surprisingly the highlight of our stay. The variety was good, the food was consistently enjoyable, and it ended up being the one place we looked forward to eating. Sadly, most of the specialty restaurants were disappointing. Meals were frequently overcooked, incorrect, or simply underwhelming. The teppanyaki restaurant was the only other dining experience that stood out as reasonably enjoyable.
The property itself appears to be in need of some maintenance and attention to detail. Our room had a significant gap around the door that allowed sunlight in during the day and plenty of noise at night, making restful sleep a challenge. Several decorative elements were worn or peeling, the mirror was visibly deteriorating, and at one point our door lock broke entirely, leaving us waiting about an hour before we could get back into our room. Small issues individually, but together they added up and took away from the overall experience. Additionally, our mini-bar was never refilled after check-in despite requests.
The drinks were another area where consistency would make a big difference. Depending on the bartender or bar, the same drink could taste completely different, and at times we genuinely couldn’t tell what we had ordered. Many blended drinks also contained large chunks of ice, suggesting the equipment may need maintenance. A standardized approach to recipes and preparation, similar to what many cruise lines use, could really improve the guest experience.
On a positive note, the majority of the staff were friendly, hardworking, and clearly wanted guests to have a great time. They were one of the best parts of the resort. The timeshare sales team, however, was persistent in ways that may not appeal to every guest, so just be prepared for that aspect.
To put things in perspective, we finished our trip at another resort that cost about a quarter of the price yet felt significantly more polished and better maintained. That comparison made it clear how much potential this property has if operational details and upkeep are improved.
Overall, the resort has a fun theme and wonderful staff, but for the price point, the quality of food, maintenance, and consistency need significant improvement to match the experience guests expect.

We stayed 4 nights for our very first time on the Eden side! Only regret is that we wish we would have stayed longer. It was exceptional and we had a great time. The atmosphere was fun, sexy and what ever you wanted to make it sexier or relaxing. The attention to detail and service by staff was amazing. Our butlers Cesar and Daniel were on point, with every request and detail. Great jobs keep it up!
Only issue we had was communication with reservations staff about transportation to and from the hotel. Half was dealt with at checkout with the front desk staff. The remaining issue we still have to deal with which is unfortunate as this put a bit of a damper on our experience.
We will definitely be returning this year. Can’t wait to dress up for the theme nights. So great to meet so many couples that are like minded, and love how they dress up to impress!

My experience at Desire this January was lovely to say the least. The location is beautiful, with a great beach area to lounge around. The atmosphere is fun, the culture of Desire fits my speed of entertainment. The rooms are nice, even though I spent most of my time in the pool and jacuzzi. This resort is worth the value. The resort is very clean, shout out to all the housekeepers. They are amazingly fast at cleaning the room,s and the grounds are very clean. Staff clean all day long, even the common areas like the pool and jacuzzi are always clean. There are always fresh towels, and the public bathrooms are always clean. No problems about noise either. I also want to thank the playmakers who work very hard to entertain all the guests. Bam Bam, Bella, Chiara, Pina(Colada), and Maurico set the mood for the day. I love that the playmakers interact with the guests by playing volleyball and play pool side games with the guests. It's definitely the event of the day to look forward to every day of your stay. The spa staff is amazing as well, especially Jesu, who has A1 customer service. All of the chefs and waiters are also amazing. I would like to specially thank Julio at Flirty, the pool grill. He is always courteous and a mastermind at getting orders out fast, and the food is always made with love. I also like to specially thank Jesus from Suki, he's one of the best Teppanyaki chefs Suki has. very entertaining with makes the dinner show so much fun. The night shows are great, also shout out to the entertainers and playmakers again, who start the dance party on the dance floor. Best playmakers in Mexico! Desire has the best staff, shout out to the very talented bartenders. I think the bartenders can make any drink there is; they pour those spirits all day and all night, literally. Overall, Desire RM is the best place for couples, sexy dress-up, parties, and all-around fun! Definitely will be returning!

I love coming here because everyone is so friendly and helpful. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with a great smile, and your entire stay feels really pleasant.
The food has its good and bad moments. I just hope the buffet adds more variety, because most days it’s basically the same food, just presented differently.
All the servers and bartenders we had were amazing—Africa, Jenny, Lalo, and others! Everyone was super kind and made us feel welcome.
The entertainment here is much better than other resorts. You never stop laughing or having a good time. My favorite will always be Bambam, his charisma is unmatched, and every time we come back he remembers our names and welcomes us with so much joy.
So many great things to say about this place. We truly love coming here.

We arrived as a married couple hoping for a fun getaway and left with memories we’ll cherish forever. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming, respectful, and perfectly balanced between relaxation and excitement. We had such an amazing time that we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave and ended up booking an extra day just to stay longer.
The connections we made were genuine and unforgettable. The service throughout the resort was exceptional, from the attentive and friendly waiting staff to the hardworking cleaning team who kept everything immaculate. Every detail reflected care, professionalism, and pride in the guest experience. Edgar at the coffee bar next to the gym was very attentive and makes great coffee. Carlos massage gave the wife a massage she will never forget. Jorge was part of the wait staff, he was our waiter one night at Suki and every night after the hot tub activitys ;) down at the Melange bar. He always had our BLT with burnt bacon (as requested) ready for us. Incredibly nice guy we hope to see next time.
This resort exceeded our expectations in every way, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.

We had a wonderful time at the resort. We stayed on the new side called Eden this time. Everything is brand new and upscale. Our poolside server Africa was always attentive and very welcoming. From the moment we arrived the butlers , maid service , playmakers and other staff were wonderful. We will definitely be back as soon as we can. Until next time Mexico 🇲🇽
