We had a fantastic week at Abora Catarina! It’s a great hotel, especially when travelling with children. Water slides, a kids’ club, and all‑inclusive with well‑stocked buffets offering something for everyone. The staff are friendly, patient, and always cheerful – a special thank to Katia at the buffet. The entertainment team is amazing, although we would have preferred the evening shows to start a little earlier. The hotel also has a perfect location close to the sand dunes and within walking distance of Meloneras, Playa del Inglés, and the Cita and Yumbo shopping centres. We’ve had a wonderful week filled with sun and swimming – a perfect break from the dark Swedish January.

We stayed at Abora Catarina with my wife and our 22-month-old daughter and had a fantastic holiday from start to finish. We stayed in room 242, which was very spacious and perfect for a family. The room had a large terrace with a balcony and a whirlpool jacuzzi, which was a real highlight and great for relaxing. The location of the hotel is excellent. It’s right next to the famous Maspalomas dunes and close to plenty of food options, supermarkets, and shopping centres, all within walking distance, which made getting around very easy. The food was very good throughout our stay, and we always found something tasty to enjoy. We were especially impressed with how quickly food was replenished, meaning everything was always fresh. The same applied to the snack bar – it was constantly being restocked, so the food was always hot and enjoyable. A special mention has to go to the animation team. They were excellent – always friendly, energetic, and particularly amazing with our young daughter. They spent time with her on many occasions, which really meant a lot to us as parents. They organised fun activities during the day and still managed to put on top-class shows in the evening. A big salute to the animation team for the fantastic job they do. We also really enjoyed the pool areas, and our daughter absolutely loved the splash park – it was definitely one of her favourite parts of the holiday. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Abora Catarina and wouldn’t hesitate to return. We will definitely be back.

We thought the hotel was fabulous in many ways and would book again without hesitation. The majority of staff are all amazing and polite. The whole of the hotel is cleaned to a high standard and always looks nice. The pool and sunbeds area is mopped down everyday. The cleaning staff do a tremendous job and work very hard. Food and drinks are very good, and as most people must be on the all inclusive board basis, you can eat as much as you want. It's a novelty for the first week until you have just over fed yourself and start eating a bit less. The hotel grounds are lovely and well maintained, they have put numerous small relaxing areas amongst trees or on different levels, so there is somewhere for everyone to find their space. They have an outdoor mini theatre where the animation team put on shows most nights. They work very hard and produce a good quality of entertainment, but, it is all based on the same theme, dance moves, to well known films or shows. It's good but could do with having some variation, like other hotels do by bringing in outside entertainers. Acrobats, jugglers, that type of thing. But don't get me wrong the animation team are amazing and lovely people. Huge hotel that can require a lot of walking, so if you are a little infirm, request a room close to the central area. Located only about a quarter of a mile to the dunes or promenade, and a similar distance to the nearest shopping centre, so a great position generally.

The hotel needs plenty of a renovation. The corridors especially and the lifts look run down and old. I booked it because it's a part of lopesan group and I had a great experience with their 2 other hotels in gran canaria's Meloneras. Sadly this wasn't fully the case with Abora Catarina. The hotel grounds look nice, with plenty of beautiful plants and greeneries; the swimming pools too, even though crowded. But this hotel is mostly for big families with small children. Absolutely not ideal for a single traveller who wants to spend some relaxing time at the pool or on the balcony. Children were literally everywhere, running, shouting having fun as they should. So if that's your thing - great! Unfortunately I didn't expect it to such an extent. I think next time I'll book an adult only property. On a positive side, the food is really nice and the staff very helpful. The coffee for all inclusive guests is horrible, though, and you have to pay extra for the coffee from the proper pressure coffee machines that they have at the bar. In my room the balcony door was broken and I couldn't lock it properly and the toilet flush stopped working. This was rectified fairly fast. Also the location is amazing - 5 min to the beautiful dunes of Maspalomas and 15 min walk to Yumbo centre for some night life. All in all ok, but very loud and the coffee is just dire...

Amazing hotel with excellent location just next to Dunes and promenade. In spite of it, we barely went out due to so many attractions inside. Reception, especially Tom, very supportive. Animation both for kids and adults top notch, many things to choose from it was even hard to decide. Big kudos to Ania, Claudia and Ana - they made our stay unforgettable, fitness, bingo, mini games, pin pong tournaments, board games… Additionally best shows I have even seen with so much staff - wow, bravo to Leonardo! Only thing to improve is water temperature in main pool (freezing cold in Feb), in kids pool it was ok and variety of food - after few days, in low season it seemed like not too much to choose from.
