Our 3rd visit in 3 years, and would definitely return again. Extremely nice smaller resort. Great costumer service. We enjoy their food more than the larger resorts, it is more tasty/flavorful. After a few days the bartenders know our drink preferences, and are super friendly, as are the entire service staff. Very clean rooms and well kept grounds. Very relaxing. Entertainment staff is extremely friendly and tries to involve daily participation. Good wifi throughout.

AVOID, RUDE STAFF THAT STEAL AND DIRTY ROOMS! I returned from a day trip to find items missing from my room! I immediately addressed this with the front desk staff who said nothing could be done until 9am the following morning when the house keeping manager was available to talk to. The following morning at 9am as instructed I went to the desk, only to receive hostility from the manager, he was incredibly rude and dismissive and told me to calm down and stop bothering them. They would apparently update me at some point in the next 48hrs. After feeling very isolated, unwelcome and quite frankly unsafe at this hotel I contacted BA who I had booked my holiday with, they were nothing but fantastic and immediately arranged for me to transfer for another hotel. Prior to leaving I was contacted by the hotel front desk to inform me my items has mysteriously turned up “in the laundry”, a convenient cover story for what was clearly a theft. I genuinely believe the only reason my belongings were returned was because BA contacted the hotel on my behalf and caused a stir. As the hotel staff clearly didn’t care whatsoever and were quite obviously trying to get me to shut up and have the situation swept under the rug. Other issues I had were the hotel has deteriorated massively since the photos were taken, the room smelt damp and was dirty with a leaking roof, the air con was temperamental, no hot water and the noise during the day and night was intense, certainly not the hotel for a light sleeper! Alongside that the drinks tasted watered down, the food was mediocre at best and the restaurant booking system is a joke, essentially leaving the buffet as the only option to eat every evening as it was almost impossible to book into the restaurants. Only positive of this hotel is the beach, but certainly not enough to make it worth a visit! If you are thinking of visiting this area I would recommend the hotel Wyndham Alltra. It has a smaller beach, but a great pool, good location, FANTASTIC staff along with great food & beverage choices. The best bonus it’s CHEAPER than this run down hotel where the staff are rude, aggressive, unhelpful and steal your stuff out of your rooms! My advice definitely DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY at this hotel.

A Wonderful Family Vacation with Exceptional Staff We took our family to Barceló Allegro Playacar for the first time this past December and were extremely pleased with our stay. The staff was consistently happy, friendly, and attentive, going out of their way to make our vacation special—especially for our 2-year-old grandson. We’ve stayed at other Barceló resorts before, but this was our first visit here and it truly stood out. The food was perfect for a large group, with great buffet variety and enjoyable restaurants—especially the Italian restaurant. We loved the beach activities, including catamarans, corn hole, and ladder ball. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and conveniently located near both the pool and the beach. While smaller than other Barceló resorts we’ve stayed at, the excellent AC and cleanliness more than made up for it. A special thank you to Alejandro Mis, who served us at lunch daily and always greeted us with a smile (and ice cream!), and to Gerson Arco for being so kind to our family in the evenings. Housekeeping was also outstanding. We made wonderful family memories and truly appreciate the resort and its amazing staff for such a memorable family vacation. We hope to return again!

I had a great stay at Allegro, and the service really stood out. I especially want to thank Fernanda, guest services manager, who was always there to help, super professional, and genuinely kind. She made restaurant reservations easy and stress free, even when there were issues. Rooms were clean, the beach was beautiful, and the pool bar guys were amazing friendly, fun, and always on point. Overall, great vibes, great service, and I’d definitely come back.

I recently stayed at the Allegro, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with some room for improvement. The Highlights • The Atmosphere: One of the best things about this hotel is that it doesn’t feel like a "factory." It has a great scale and a cozy feel. • The Staff: The people working here are incredibly nice and friendly. They genuinely contribute to the positive energy of the place. • Location: The location is excellent—you are only a 30-minute walk from the center of Playa del Carmen, which makes it easy to explore the town without needing a taxi every time. • The Rooms: The rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable. The Challenges • Water Issues: We experienced several issues with the water during our stay. After talking to other guests, it seems like this is a common problem at this property that needs to be addressed. • The Booking System: There are three themed restaurants (Oriental, Italian, and Mexican) which are actually quite good. However, you have to book the same day starting at 9:00 AM. We once spent 45 minutes waiting in line just to make a reservation, which is not how you want to spend your vacation time. • Dining Quality: The food could be better, especially the bread, pastries, and desserts, which were quite underwhelming.
