Golden Mare Resort 4* is a place you will want to come back to again and again! We absolutely loved our stay. The hotel’s location is 10 out of 10—beautiful views, the sea just a short walk away, a peaceful atmosphere, and everything you need for a perfect holiday in Corfu. A very special thank you to the entire staff for their kindness, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. We would especially like to thank Dimitra at the reception. She is an incredibly kind, beautiful, caring, and attentive woman who always welcomed us with a warm smile and was happy to help with anything we needed. She truly made our stay even more special. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the housekeeping team, especially Tamara from Ukraine. Our room was always spotlessly clean, fresh, and perfectly maintained. It was such a pleasure to return to a beautifully cleaned room every day. You can truly feel that everyone at Golden Mare cares about their guests and does everything possible to make their holiday unforgettable. It’s the wonderful people who create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We highly recommend Golden Mare to anyone visiting Corfu. I recently stayed at Golden Mare Resort and was extremely disappointed with the experience. This is advertised as a 4-star hotel, but it’s realistically closer to a 1–2 star. We arrived to a dirty room that was dirty and not clean, and throughout the stay housekeeping was unreliable, with our room often not serviced and no fresh towels provided. The all-inclusive food was poor—frequently cold—and I ended up with food poisoning. Several other guests we spoke to experienced the same, but management was dismissive and unwilling to take responsibility. Drinks were also low quality and made me feel unwell. Noise was a major issue. Despite being told entertainment would end at 11:30pm, it regularly went on until after 2am. The lack of soundproofing means you can hear everything, making it very difficult to sleep. This isn’t a party hotel, so the noise level is completely inappropriate, especially for families and older guests which there was at the hotel while we were there. Overall, this hotel falls far below the standard it advertises. I would not recommend staying here.

Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. Although the property looks relatively modern and renovated at first glance, the reality becomes very different once you stay here. In our opinion, this hotel is suitable only for very undemanding guests. Anyone who values cleanliness, good service and a reasonable standard of food should seriously consider other options. The service was one of the first disappointments. Reception staff appeared indifferent, while the overall service was slow, unhelpful and poorly organised – surprisingly so, considering we stayed outside the main season. The restaurant also lacks basic cleanliness and organisation. Tables are often left dirty after guests finish eating, leaving others to sit at uncleared tables and sometimes even find staff themselves to ask for cutlery. The food is equally disappointing. Of course, taste is subjective, but having stayed in many hotels of different standards, we have plenty to compare it with. The food here was repetitive, often lukewarm, poorly presented and generally lacking in both quality and variety. The biggest issue, however, is cleanliness and maintenance. Our room had an unpleasant smell upon arrival, which only improved after several days of keeping the window open and ventilation running constantly. Housekeeping was extremely poor: beds were not properly made, the shower was not cleaned adequately, used towels were inconsistently removed, and the floors did not appear to be properly swept or washed. Unfortunately, this lack of cleanliness extends throughout the entire property. Dirty windows, dusty corners and curtains that appear not to have been washed for a very long time can be seen in the rooms, restaurant and common areas. The pool area also requires much better maintenance, and the sun loungers are noticeably worn. Overall, the entire hotel would benefit from a thorough deep clean and considerably better ongoing maintenance. What makes this particularly disappointing is that we had previously stayed at an older hotel which, despite being less modern, was incomparably cleaner, better maintained and offered significantly better service. A modern appearance means very little when basic cleanliness, maintenance and hospitality are neglected. Overall, based on our experience, the hotel does not meet the standard we would expect even from a good three-star property, and we find its high ratings difficult to understand. There is considerable room for improvement, particularly in cleanliness, housekeeping, staff organisation, food quality and general maintenance. Unfortunately, we would not return and could not recommend this hotel to travellers who value cleanliness and a reasonable level of service.

Golden Mare Resort offered a very pleasant experience. The rooms were tidy, comfortable, and had everything needed for a relaxing stay. The service stood out — staff were polite, welcoming, and quick to assist with any request. The location is beautiful, with easy access to the beach and lovely views. A peaceful resort that makes your holiday feel effortless.

Great location, fantastic staff. Rooms great size and the beds are so comfortable. Night entertainment is great, different every night. Food was disappointing at the start but George soon sorted it and the food then was great. Big variety of drinks. Would return without a doubt.
