Overall, the hotel is good, but it is very large and can feel extremely busy. There are a lot of guests, and especially around lunchtime it can get quite noisy due to the number of children. The service is very good, and the staff are friendly, attentive and clearly make an effort to look after the guests. The rooms are clean, although some are starting to show their age, with quite a few signs of wear and tear. The food is decent, but because of the sheer size of the hotel and the number of people, dining can sometimes feel more like eating in a large company canteen than in a hotel restaurant. It can get very crowded and lacks a bit of atmosphere. Drinks are available throughout the day, unfortunately with all the consequences that can sometimes come with that. One slightly amusing issue is the sunbed situation. Officially, reserving sunbeds is not allowed, and towels left unattended for more than 45 minutes are supposed to be removed. In reality, the first towels appear on the sunbeds as early as 6 a.m., and some beds remain “reserved” until 1 p.m. without anyone actually using them. Apparently, the rules are not really enforced. And for once, the Germans cannot be blamed for the famous early-morning towel routine: the vast majority of guests here are British. There are also some German, Swiss, Italian and Spanish guests, but the British are clearly in the majority.

We stayed at the Iberostar Club Cala Barca in June 2026. While the location is beautiful, our trip had some serious downsides that I wish I knew about beforehand. Here is what you should know: Food: If you’ve been to other Iberostar hotels, you might be disappointed. The food selection here is much more basic. Seafood is rare, and we only saw smoked salmon at breakfast once in 13 days. Also, there were very few berries or fresh fruits. But grilled fish was everyday The Room: The rooms really need an update. Our toilet broke during our stay and had to be fixed. Also, the furniture is not child-friendly—the corners of the bed in the living area are very sharp, and we kept bumping into them and getting hurt. Mini Disco: It happens at 5:30 PM by the pool, but it is way too crowded, slippery, and the music is extremely loud. My child was scared of the noise and the crowd, so we couldn't go. Health: Unfortunately, my child got a stomach infection at the hotel. She was sick with a high fever for three days, which really ruined part of our vacation. The good stuff: The hotel grounds are huge and lovely, with lots of pine trees and shade, which is great for walking. The view of the sea is amazing. The beach is nice, and the water is clean and warm. We really enjoyed the dining options, especially the Mediterranean restaurant -it’s much cozier and has a lovely terrace. The Mexican restaurant was also a very convenient place for lunch. We also liked the bar, the cafeteria, and the animation team, who were great. The shop on-site was very useful to have. The housekeeping team was excellent our room was cleaned every single day, which we really appreciated.

Fantastic spot for families — just book it and enjoy your holiday. You can thank me later! The food is excellent, with plenty of variety for both adults and kids. One thing we really appreciated was that the buffet rotates its theme each evening, featuring different seasonal and local dishes, so it never feels repetitive. The kids' pool is brilliant. Our two children absolutely loved it and could have spent all day there. There are also bars and snack stations dotted throughout the resort, making it easy to grab a quick bite, an ice cream, or a drink whenever you want. A special mention has to go to the animation team. They work incredibly hard and bring so much energy to the resort. The entertainment throughout the day and evening is genuinely top-notch, with activities for both children and adults. The mini disco was a huge hit with our kids, and the evening shows were always well organised and great fun. The grounds are well maintained, the staff are friendly, and there's plenty to keep the whole family entertained. We had a fantastic stay and would happily return.

We had a really lovely five night stay at Iberostar Waves Cala Barca. We are a family of four with two kids, boy and girl, aged five and seven. We spent all day everyday at the pool, the kids loved the bouncy dome pool in particular as the are really high energy kids thay love water. We as parents were able to relax and get to actually read our books while the kids had so much fun right in front of us. The food in the hotel is great, always lots of variety and lovely fresh salads, seafood, grilled meats etc. We really enjoyed the Mexican on a few occasions, lovely food and much calmer vibe than the main buffet. We got really lucky with our room on the 3rd floor looking out at the sea, sunsets from our balcony were fab. The beds were really comfortable, even my kids remarked on them. Our room was cleaned everyday, so nice to return to in the evening. The beach was a short stroll from our room and I took an evening dip every day, really peaceful and clear water there, albeit a bit rocky as you enter the water. We actually didn't leave the hotel during our stay as we really didn't want to, which normally never happens. We always rent a car for day trips, but this time we were enjoying relaxing too much to leave! Special mention to Panne (sorry if spelt incorrectly), the manager who really went out of his way to look after my daughter with lots of special deserts and icepops as she is dairy intolerant, made her feel really special! We can't wait to return in the future and highly recommend for families!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another incredible stay! Back from another wonderful stay at beautiful Cala Barca! This was our second time here and yet again, it did not disappoint. The whole resort is so beautiful and well looked after, with so many pools to choose from and plenty of restaurant choices. The food variety was great, with lots of options for adults and plenty for fussy children too. We loved the smaller restaurants best as they were calmer and had a relaxing feel with nice decor. What we love the most is the staff. We were delighted to see some familiar faces from last year, and absolutely loved the energy and smiles from all the entertainment team and in particular smiley Dani (si, si, si, si!). The nightly entertainment is just great—the evening begins with a fun Kahoot quiz followed by brilliant shows. We absolutely LOVED Adams Groove, as well as the Rock and 80s nights. At the end of the evening we loved dancing along to the iberostar song!The only thing that would make it better would be a little refresh of the accommodation. The rooms and bathrooms are looking a bit tired, but upgrading them is obviously a massive, large-scale task. Regardless, the amazing facilities, wonderful staff, and great food easily make up for it and justify the 4-star rating.If you are looking for an affordable, all-inclusive holiday with plenty to do in a scenic setting this is for you. Just be warned it is noisy with lots of children, it is busy and crowded but we expected that to be the case in August summer holidays and just rolled with it! We would definitely be tempted to visit a third time!
