We had an amazing stay at this hotel during our honeymoon. Everything was exceptional, from the beautiful rooms to the outstanding facilities and the relaxing atmosphere. The staff made us feel truly welcome and took great care of us throughout our stay. A special thank you to Kenny and Maryam for their kindness, professionalism, and warm hospitality. Our stay at Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa left us with mixed feelings. The most disappointing aspect was the service — the resort felt understaffed, service was frequently slow, and there's real room for the staff to improve on hospitality manners and attentiveness overall. For a resort at this level, guests should expect more consistent and polished service. One thing worth noting for future guests: our reservation was half board, and the restaurants operate on set menus rather than a buffet — each restaurant has its own specified menu, and the à la carte option is capped at a maximum of 1800 Rs per person per night. Good to know this in advance so there are no surprises. That said, there were definite bright spots. The villas themselves were excellent — spotless, extremely private, and the facilities across the resort were well maintained. Mariame and Shuba were lovely hosts and added a nice touch to our stay with their warmth. We also want to mention Deevesh at Cilantro restaurant, who stood out for his attentive service during our meals there. Overall, the setting, privacy, and cleanliness make this a beautiful property, but the resort needs to invest more in staffing levels and service training to match the quality of its physical offering.

The villas and beachfront setting are the hotel’s biggest strengths, and many of the staff are friendly and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the overall experience falls well short of five-star standards, with inconsistent service, poor housekeeping, average breakfasts, numerous extra charges, and a lack of attention to detail throughout our stay. The most disappointing moment came on our final evening. We had booked the teppanyaki restaurant, where the F&B manager warmly told us the chef had created a “special menu” just for us as a farewell. We thought it was a thoughtful gesture. Instead, we sat watching everyone else have their meals cooked fresh on the teppanyaki while our food eventually arrived pre-made from the kitchen. It later became clear the hotel had overbooked the seating and, rather than explain the situation honestly, chose to present it as a special experience. They attempted to make amends afterwards, but the damage was done. Our final memory of the holiday was of being misled to cover up the hotel’s own mistake. It was unprofessional, dishonest and showed little regard for the guest experience. That episode perfectly reflected the wider stay: good intentions from some staff, but inconsistent execution and poor management. The duty manager even asked us to leave a review at check-out without first asking for any feedback. The setting is lovely, but if you’re looking for genuine five-star service, Maradiva is unlikely to meet your expectations.

One of the best hotels we have stayed at so far. Everything about Maradiva feels calm, private, and very well thought through. The villa was beautiful, recently renovated, very spacious, and spotless every day. Housekeeping did an amazing job. The private heated pool, outdoor shower, and all the small details like the pillow menu and personalized minibar really made a difference. The beach is wide, clean, and never crowded. Sunbeds are well spaced, and most of the time it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Food was excellent across all restaurants. We stayed 9 days on half board and tried everything, including the live cooking at Haiku, which was our favorite. The à la carte breakfast is also a big plus and not something you see often. What really stands out is the staff. Very friendly, attentive, and they quickly remember your preferences, which makes the whole experience feel personal. Check-in and checkout were smooth, concierge was very helpful, and we loved the dolphin trip booked through the hotel. Great water sports options as well.

Extremely disappointing experience. We had just arrived from the airport and, while waiting for our villa to be ready, we used the relaxation room at the reception to freshen up and change. We left our luggage there so the staff could transfer it to our villa once it was ready. When we returned, one of our luggage bags had been cracked. We reported the damage immediately, but the hotel kept delaying the investigation for days. We had to keep following up ourselves, and the day before check-out they claimed there was “no evidence” after reviewing the CCTV footage—even though the relaxation room where our luggage was stored doesn’t even have cameras. To make matters worse, when we asked for a proper solution or compensation, they offered us mocktails as “compensation.” Offering drinks instead of taking responsibility for damaged luggage is simply unacceptable. The management and reception staff showed no professionalism or accountability. After speaking to multiple staff members across different shifts, no one took responsibility and no real solution was ever provided. If this is how the resort treats guests when their property is damaged, we would never recommend staying here. Update: Your response contains several contradictions and does not address the key facts of what happened. First, it is not my responsibility that the relaxation room was not fully covered by CCTV. We were instructed to use that room while waiting for our villa to be ready, so we left our luggage there and went out. If the CCTV coverage was insufficient to determine what happened while our luggage remained there, that is a security issue on the resort’s side, not the guest’s. Second, we personally used our luggage in the relaxation room immediately after arriving to change our clothes, and it was not damaged at that time. When we returned later, before the luggage had even been transferred to our villa, we discovered the damage. Third, regarding the driver, he never informed us that he had noticed any damage or pointed it out to us. We only heard this claim later from the resort. Any conversation between the resort and the driver took place without us present, so we have no way of verifying what was actually said. Finally, your response states that the mocktails were merely a goodwill gesture. That is not what we were told. The manager explicitly presented them to us as compensation for the incident. Our review accurately reflects our experience. Our luggage was undamaged when we personally used it in the relaxation room, it was found damaged while it remained under the resort’s care, we spent several days repeatedly following up on the investigation ourselves, no conclusive evidence was ever provided, and no meaningful resolution was offered. We stand by our review.
