PRATEEK JAIN
In a nutshell: A beachfront property with a strong breakfast and prime location, undercut by inconsistent maintenance, a broken digital experience, and service that ranged from indifferent to genuinely poor — surprising shortfalls for a Gold-tier stay at this price point. 💰 Economy (2/5): At upwards of €200/night, the experience fell well short of the price point. Between the malfunctioning door lock, unreliable app, and the breakfast mix-up, this didn't feel like a fair value exchange. 📍 Location (5/5): Beachfront setting in Mallorca, ideal for a beach-focused stay. 🛏 Room (2/5): A round table with no accompanying chair made for an odd, unusable setup. Curtain rails were stiff and difficult to operate, and the blackout curtains didn't fully cover the windows, letting in light early in the morning. We also found a welcome note in our room addressed to a different guest — a small but telling lapse in attention to detail. Corridors had no carpeting, which may well be a deliberate design choice for this style of property, but the resulting noise was a real issue — we could clearly hear guests returning late at night. Plumbing sounds from neighbouring bathrooms also carried into the room. 🛎 Service (2/5): Mixed at best. We reported the door lock issue and someone came to fix it, but it remained hard to rotate and would only latch halfway — we were told this was "sufficient," which didn't inspire confidence. The bigger issue came on our last morning: the night before checkout, reception assured us breakfast would be ready by 7 AM despite the official 7:30 AM start, since our flight required an early departure. When we arrived at 7 AM, staff rudely told us breakfast didn't start until 7:30. Once we explained what reception had told us the night before, they let us have breakfast. For comparison, we've had a better experience at three-star hotels in the Philippines and India, where staff proactively prepared takeaway breakfast for us whenever we had an early departure — no pushback, no attitude. Checkout itself, by contrast, was smooth and efficient. 🎛 Technology (1/5): The Melia app was essentially unusable — despite being logged into our account, requesting something as simple as a toothbrush triggered a sign-in prompt that then errored out entirely. In-room, the bathroom lights operate on a motion sensor, which turned off mid-shower and then failed to turn back on for roughly 30 minutes. 🧹 Cleanliness (4/5): Room and common areas were generally clean and well-kept. 🛡 Safety (2/5): The door lock issue is a genuine concern — even after a maintenance visit, it didn't fully engage, which shouldn't happen at any price point. Separately, guests are issued wristbands to identify themselves and access rooms, with an implication that going without one could draw questioning from security. This isn't something we've encountered at other resorts and wasn't our preference, though it may simply be house policy rather than a safety failure. 🍳 Breakfast (5/5): The standout of the stay — a genuinely excellent spread, and the one area where the hotel delivered on expectations.

I have been staying at Meliá South Beach Mallorca for around 10 years, and that alone says a lot about how much I enjoy this hotel. As a Platinum member, I always have access to The Level, and once again the experience was excellent. The check-in process through The Level was smooth and professional. Andrea was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made me feel valued from the moment I arrived. The following day, Cati was just as amazing—very helpful, attentive, and always willing to assist with anything I needed. There is not much more I can say about the hotel itself that I haven’t experienced over the years. Of course, there are always small areas where improvements can be made, as with any hotel, but overall I have consistently been more than satisfied with my stays here. The location, atmosphere, and service keep bringing me back year after year. Most importantly, the staff are always friendly, professional, and genuinely care about their guests. Thank you to the entire team for another wonderful stay. I am already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very impressive beach front hotel. The hotel is right in the heart of the town with direct access to the beach and promenade. Hotel has outdoor dining, bars and pools making sure you can enjoy every hour of the sunshine. Great rooms and comfy beds. Breakfast was a brilliant selection but can get busy at peak time. Highly recommend and would use again.

Avoid Meliá Mallorca unless location is your only priority—despite its four-star rating and prime setting beside Nikki Beach, the poor hospitality, lack of empathy, and recurring maintenance issues make it a disappointing value. Hospitality is what separates an average hotel from a memorable one, and this property consistently misses that mark. Rather than making guests feel welcome, the staff often made us feel like an inconvenience. The front desk was indifferent, the bartender refused to reasonably resolve an issue with an undrinkable cocktail, and the breakfast staff seemed intent on ushering guests out the moment service ended instead of extending basic courtesy. The property reflects the same lack of attention to detail. Guests must carry luggage up a half flight of stairs before reaching the elevators, the room shelving was flimsy and came apart during our stay, the towel rack was barely attached, and the air conditioning was weak before ultimately failing. If you’re in your early 20s or early 30s, plan to spend most of your time at Nikki Beach, and are simply looking for a relatively affordable place to sleep, this hotel may fit the bill. However, if you’re looking for an elevated experience, attentive service, and a hotel that genuinely feels four-star, I would recommend staying elsewhere. There are far better options in Mallorca that deliver significantly better value for the money.

Had a decent stay overall - good location near shops and restaurants, modern outdoor areas. However, be prepared for excessive extra charges: - Parking: €30/day (some free spots nearby if you're lucky) - Beach sun beds: €25 per bed - absolutely ridiculous pricing Room was adequate size but bathroom layout is cramped with everything squeezed together. The "Level" subscription at €45/person/day for VIP perks isn't worth it. Beach is very close which is convenient but honestly with these outrageous sun bed prices and parking fees, I'd recommend looking at other options in the area. There are for sure better value hotels that won't nickel and dime you for basic amenities.
