Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the hotel. It is by no means worthy of five stars; if I am very generous, I might give it four, but realistically it deserves only three stars. The hotel is clean, looks decent, and the staff are friendly, but that is where the positives end. Very few employees speak English, the food is average—often better in three-star hotels. Sun loungers by the pools are constantly occupied, as guests reserve them early in the morning by placing towels on them and only come to the pool after 3:00 PM. This behavior is not supervised, and the hotel staff allow it to continue. One day I even had to lie on the grass until a lounger became available. Housekeeping provided too few towels every day, and one day we did not receive any at all. It was difficult to communicate this, as the staff do not understand English. Despite leaving a daily tip of $5 or $10, we never once received additional small towels. Yesterday, the hotel was without water for half the day, which caused further inconvenience. You can imagine the condition of the shared restrooms. Overall, we were very disappointed with a hotel advertised as five-star. In other parts of the world, a five-star rating represents a completely different level of service than what is offered here.

We stayed here for a family trip and overall it was definitely worth it. Extremely safe and the resort has something for everyone. Great for families, or those looking to relax on the amazing beaches with plenty of seating, or those looking for drinks and fun. The resort has everything. The evening events were great and the resort club adds for those looking to stay up late. The restaurants serve great food, top remarks for the Mexican restaurant, but all of them or great. The buffets food is good and to standards. The rooms are what you’d expect and great for the amount of time you spend in it. It’s very safe and provides the ability to buy excursions and the the staff know which excursions are best. Only concern is some staff seem distance and appear rude and some seem annoyed when we ask for assistance. Key note is only some of them. The beach bar staff were great and awesome. Would recommend

My niece and I went on a little girls trip here, we stayed 4 nights and we booked Royal, all of the food we ate from the Royal Restaurant, the beach buffet, the tacos, pizza, Italian and room service was great, we never had an issue with any of the food. The ocean front room was very spacious, clean, cool and had a comfy bed and pillows, we slept amazing. The beach was spectacular, the Royal beach bar had amazing staff. Elvin at the Royal restaurant was the best!!!! The ONLY issue we had was the drinks, they tasted amazing and we had plenty, I am not sure if they are pouring true rum in them lol we drank so many from our Stanleys and never got a buzz or anything lol and we are not heavy drinkers. We would definitely go back!

We had a wonderful experience with the Kids Club at Occidental Punta Cana! The staff were incredibly kind, caring, Nancy is full of energy, making our child feel welcome from the very first day. There were plenty of fun activities, games, crafts, and entertainment that kept the kids happy and engaged. It gave us peace of mind knowing our child was safe, having fun, and excited to go back each day. A big thank you to Nancy for making our family vacation even more special. We highly recommend it to any family visiting the resort!

Beautiful resort with great First Club attention & amazing annimation entertainment. As part of the Founders purchase program in Mexico, it was our first time visiting Occidental Punta Cana. We were very impressed with the welcoming environment from all, especially First Club. The staff goes above and beyond to serve and make sure you have a wonderful experience. Elsa, Geter, Maria Lopez, and so many to name truly made an impact on our family. The first club chef takes pride in what he cooks and food was amazing. The animation and entertainment by far is the best experience and truly know how to entertain both adults and families. We plan to return soon.
