Sofitel Mauritius L'Imperial Resort and Spa

Overall , sofitel is a big nice resort with spacious rooms for families. I requested a baby cot via booking.com which was confirmed, but didn't get one ready in the room upon arrival. That's okay, my 5 months old coslept with me on the bed. We also asked for a reservation at the Japanese restaurant on our first night, but once we arrived, no reservation was made for us. Since they had vacancy, they accepted us. On a bad note, the server kept rushing asking us what we wanted to order and kept asking us if we finished our plate (which he could clearly see the plate was still full). So we felt rushed and not welcomed for diner. Our room was at the far end. With a baby it was not so easy to walk quite a distance. After diner I asked for a buggy, but it took so long to arrive so I walked with the baby. The breakfast buffet was good and well assisted. (I love animals, but those who don't would not like seeing cats walking around breakfast area and jumping on chairs and table) For a big resort , during the day is quite noisy. Since I am travelling with a baby , nap time in the room was difficult as noise of grass cutting and blowers outside was so loud. (I also got stung by a yellow wasp while walking in the garden with my baby on our way to breakfast) We spend 5 days at the resort and impossible to get a massage. They said they were fully booked. We enjoyed the pool area and beach bar for sunset. The boat house was very helpful and my son could enjoy windsurfing. Somewhat disappointed. I would not book this hotel again and would not recommend this hotel as it does not have the standard of a 5 star resort.

Terrible experience overall. This hotel is more like 3 stars or maybe 4 stars on a good day but definitely NOT worthy of 5 stars at all. - Poor pest control. The hotel is FULL of on insects of all kinds. - Stray dogs walking inside the hotel like it's nothing. My wife did not feel safe walking inside the hotel at night. - Most water dispensers are not working. - Room service is a joke. One time they ignored my laundry bag which I specifically put right next to the door and filled the required paper as per their instructions. - The aforementioned laudry took THREE DAYS to finish. Absolutely unacceptable. - One time the room service kept the balcony door fully open all day. When we returned to the room, it was hot, humid and dusty. The sheets are not changed every day either. - The food is boring as hell. It's not bad but it's not good either. It feels like high school food. - The buffet is full of insects, too. Once I saw a bowel of tomatoes with FIVE flys inside it. Disgusting. - The dinner service charges over priced beverages that are not included with the room for some reason. Simply theft. - The front desk is the most useless thing ever. They never help. They never greet the guests. I Absolutely regret my stay here. I do not recommend anyone to spend a single.night in this steaming hot garbage of "luxury" hotel.

This is a lovely hotel right on the beach and a short drive from a busy resort. It was under renovation when we were there which meant the hotel was quiet, but this did not reduce the level of service or amenities .two pools, spa services and water activities all amazing. Great music in the evenings , very much enjoyed. The rooms were roomy and housekeeping was very good, always happy to provide an extra towel etc. What makes this a great hotel is the staff. From the office staff who helped with our specific special requests, to the dining room staff who are friendly and professional. The whole team are amazing, nothing too much trouble . Food choices are great each day and help always on hand to explain or even make something else. Many have been there years which shows in their dedication to the guests in their charge. They are like family after a couple of days ! I just wish I was sitting on the terrace watching the waves break on the reef out to sea, and the many birds hopping about looking for crumbs ! Paradise!

I LOVED THIS HOTEL! It’s so much fun and relaxing! The music at night so talented plus so cool! The rooms are so beautiful so clean! But the food was a bit boring there was nothing rly new? I liked the dessert tho….. the view is amazing! So pretty at night! I rly recommend! The jacuzzi was my favourite! PLS GOOO TO THIS HOTEL

While the staff and service was very good and they helped with the birthday celebrations and overall stay, it wasn’t a very premium stay as per Sofitel standards. There was nothing special in the resort, no activities in the sea, no sauna, steam, had a smaller heated pool in the weather, very limited restaurant choices, no all Inclusive packs or different bars. Other resorts in the area in similar prices have so many activities and such a beautiful experience. This was definitely sub par.
