When we were booking Domes Zeen Chania, my wife and I couldn't find much about the walk into Chania Old Town, so after staying there I wanted to share our experience for anyone in the same position. The resort is built on a steep hill, with reception and car park at the top, the pool and main facilities down at the bottom. We were happy enough climbing the steps between levels, but most other guests seemed to prefer waiting for the golf buggies! The walk to Chania harbour took us about 35 minutes each way. There are two ways to go: the main road near the top of the resort, or a dirt track along the beach from the bottom. We chose the beach route into town — it's a mixed bag, once past the beach there‘s a fairly unremarkable built-up area before opening up at Nea Chora Beach and giving way to a much more enjoyable approach to the harbour. The beach path after dark is unlit. On the one occasion we tried it on the way back, we came across some drunk homeless men lurking just past the last street light, and we didn't feel comfortable at all. The main road is a much better bet for the return journey, though do be aware it finishes with an unlit, unpaved lane leading up to the resort entrance. If you're thinking of using the bus — which seemed to run quite frequently — you'll still need to tackle that same lane to reach the stops. We still enjoyed the walk there and back, and it certainly helps all that delicious Greek food go down. The main Pool area looked nice, although for me personally it was uninviting, half the sun beds sat on shingle and all had fixed umbrellas so not the best for a sun tan. There were also a lot of kids in the main pool.

We travelled to Domes Zeen Chania with our 16-month-old and had an absolutely wonderful time. The resort has a great human scale — intimate and cosy, yet with everything you need to feel truly comfortable. The staff are the real highlight. Warm, attentive, and genuinely caring — especially with our baby. They noticed every little detail and were always one step ahead. You feel truly looked after, not just checked in. Baby facilities are excellent — everything is available and the team is proactive about it. The Kids Club is fantastic, welcoming children from 4 months old. The staff there are professional, Montessori-inspired, and wonderfully adaptable with the tiniest guests. ❤️ Our room was beautiful with a gorgeous view and a lovely pool. The food at the Restaurant Beach House is good — fresh ingredients and generous portions. It leans international rather than strictly local Greek, and some dishes are a little heavy on the sauce, but for the price, the value is great. The Brunch is very good 😜 One honest note: the hotel beach is quite small and pebbly — the only thing we found a bit disappointing. Worth planning a day trip to the nearby beaches! Overall, a rare gem that combines boutique charm with genuine family friendliness. We would absolutely come back. Highly recommended! 🙌

Absolutely amazing start to our honeymoon at Domes Zeen. From the second we arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. The entire staff is so welcoming and kind. The concierge was incredibly helpful in making local recommendations and helped us book a boat tour which was amazing. The rooms, restaurants, and pool were all stunning. We loved the wine tasting and olive oil tasting activities that were complimentary during our stay. We were able to easily walk into town from the resort - a nice surprise - but felt it was still remote enough to truly relax and unplug. We will absolutely be back!

We had a fantastic experience at the Domes Zeen Chania. The staff were welcoming, friendly and forever helpful with everything you needed. The rooms were always immaculate and came with all the amenities; something that is rare in most hotels. The breakfast was outstanding and was in such a beautiful location. The beach was beautiful and had lounger service. Always had a bed available at anytime of day. The bar provided a wide array of drinks and some marvellous takes on traditional classics. Most definitely worth a sampling. The walk along the track to the old town harbour took about 30 minutes with lots of restaurants and shops on the way. The hotels recommendations for eateries in the old town of Chania were definitely the best. The food was authentic and full of Cretan charm. Also the taxi ride is less than 10 minutes and they always get a taxi for you straight away. We loved our stay and would recommend to anyone.

Simply one of the best hotels in Europe. We have come for years and it gets better each time. The service is the best we have ever seen it and a wonderful staff running the hotel. Sophia remains an amazing resource and has perfect recommendations. I would not over think this hotel and I would highly recommend booking and enjoying the excellent vibe, amazing food and beautiful property.
