We recently stayed at Heritage Le Telfair, and although we experienced some inconvenience when we first checked in, what truly impressed us was the way the hotel management handled the situation. Their response was professional, attentive and genuinely focused on making things right. For me, excellent customer service is not only about everything being perfect — it is about how a hotel responds when something doesn’t go as planned. In this respect, the management at Heritage Le Telfair was exceptional and turned our initial experience into a very positive and memorable stay. The hotel itself is beautiful. Set directly on the beachfront, it combines luxury with the charm and elegance of colonial-style architecture and villas. The surroundings are peaceful, refined and beautifully maintained, making it a wonderful place to relax and disconnect. A special mention must also go to the staff. Everyone we encountered was extremely friendly, welcoming and attentive, which really adds to the overall experience. Heritage Le Telfair is a hotel that understands hospitality and the importance of taking care of its guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxurious beachfront stay in Mauritius with outstanding service and genuine Mauritian hospitality.

We would like to thank the hard-working, hospitable, and attentive team at Heritage Le Telfair for a wonderful stay this past week. The resort is a well-managed operation that delivers a seamless experience, around the clock. Guests are spoiled for choice, from the wide variety of both complimentary and supplementary activities to the exceptional gastronomy. The rooms are some of the largest square-footage you can find at this price point, perfectly set among colonial-themed architecture and the raw, natural beauty of Bel Ombre. Prior to our arrival, I informed the guest experience team that we were celebrating my partner’s birthday. The team (overseen by Guest Experience Supervisor “France”, along with our dedicated butler, “Premi”, and the wonderful restaurant staff across the domain) went above and beyond to make the occasion, and our stay, extra special - at no additional charge. They arranged a bespoke beachfront dinner at sunset, a romantic room decoration complete with complimentary gifts and drinks, and arranged a sweet birthday cake, baked to our taste and preference. A stay at Heritage Le Telfair is a complete, 360-degree luxury experience and one that will live long in our memories. We were incredibly sad to leave, and we thank the entire team for a truly magical stay.

Separated adults-only spaces should be a standard in every hotel! At Heritage, they are, and that alone is one of the reasons I absolutely love this hotel! Being able to enjoy a beautiful swimming pool without children splashing around is such a blessing during the holidays. Of course, the hotel itself, the rooms, and the service are exceptional too, but this little adults-only touch really makes all the difference!

Ohh! What an excellent welcome by staff at the reception with a glass of juice. I liked the fact that you don’t check in standing. A very beautiful welcome by Melvin who was always there for us and i also liked the fact that we could also communicate with him even if he is off. What an excellent service by Spicy who made Mauritius very Spicy for us. 🤣🤣🤣A beautiful lovely friendly ever smiling soul who was always there for us, always asking if we are really ok.She really made our stay memorable and we will never forget Mauritius. We really had fun as friends. I will strongly recommend anyone to come stay in this resort. I will definitely bring my family.

This review reflects our personal experience during a stay in June 2026. Our stay at Heritage Le Telfair was enjoyable in many respects, particularly the beautiful setting, spacious rooms, excellent views, wide range of restaurants, and overall atmosphere of the resort. The food at O’Grill Restaurant was outstanding, and the pool area was well designed, with ample loungers, comfortable water temperature, and good cocktails. However, several service-related issues consistently fell short of what we would expect from a property positioning itself as a five-star luxury resort. The most disappointing aspect of our stay was the inconsistency of service. While some staff members were attentive and welcoming, these experiences were unfortunately the exception rather than the norm. One particularly surprising experience occurred at the spa. After a treatment, my wife asked whether she could wear her spa gown back to the room and was told this was not possible as it would not be returned to the spa. This felt unnecessarily restrictive and inconsistent with the guest-focused experience we have encountered at other luxury resorts. Pool service was another area of concern. On most days, staff did not proactively check whether we needed refreshments or assistance. Only one day out of five met the standard we expected. We also encountered unnecessary rigidity in the restaurants. On one occasion, we requested to sit at a particular table, but it happened set for four people, while the restaurant was largely empty and nearing the end of service, but were told this was not possible and had to sit elsewhere. Small gestures of flexibility can make a significant difference to the guest experience. Service at the Cavendish Bar was also disappointing. Apart from one staff member, “Spicy,” follow-up service was limited, and on one occasion I had to order the same drink three times before receiving it. We were also presented with the bill without requesting it while still enjoying our drinks, which gave the impression that we were being encouraged to leave. Attention to detail was lacking in several areas. At one dinner we were asked to keep our used starter cutlery for the main course, and tissues in our room were not replenished for two consecutive days. Individually these may seem minor, but collectively they affect the overall perception of quality. We were also surprised that airport transfers could only be paid for in cash, which felt outdated and inconvenient for an international luxury resort. Heritage Le Telfair has many strengths in its facilities, dining, and setting. However, luxury travellers increasingly judge resorts not only on their physical offering but also on service standards and guest experience. Greater consistency, flexibility, and proactive service would help elevate the resort from a good five-star experience to a truly exceptional one. Unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed overall. While the resort offers a beautiful setting, excellent dining options, and attractive facilities, these positives were not enough to offset the repeated service shortcomings we encountered. As a result, if we return to Mauritius in the future, we would choose to stay at a different resort.
