We just left 7/30/26 I had an amazing stay at Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa! The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, and everything was always clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly for the most part, and everyone worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. One of my favorite things was having access to both Secrets and Breathless. Breathless always had something fun going on if you wanted music, entertainment, and a more lively atmosphere. Secrets was perfect for relaxing, unwinding, and enjoying a quieter vacation. It really gave us the best of both worlds. We stayed as Preferred Club guests, and it was 100% worth it. The added amenities and service made our trip even more enjoyable. If I had one critique, it would be the food. While the restaurants were decent and there was plenty of variety, many dishes lacked seasoning and flavor. At times it reminded me of nursing home food it wasn’t bad, just very bland. A little more attention to balancing flavors would make a huge difference. That said, I didn’t come to Cancun just for the food. I came to rest, relax, have fun, and make memories and that’s exactly what I got. My daughter had an absolute blast, we met some of the kindest and funniest people during our stay, and we left with wonderful memories.

We did a quick girl's trip to Secrets which gives you access to Breathless. Secrets is low key, that allows you to relax, enjoy being waited on and soak up the sun. Breathless is where you go to turn up and party! Our bartender Jesus on the preferred side was amazing! The entertainment crew on the preferred side made my day each day I was at the pool! The service and friendliness of the all staff did not go unnoticed. Over drinks one night, we met the fitness instructor that convinced us to attend her underwater spin class. The class was fun and we went again right afterwards; although I paid for it the next day. On our last day, we attended the Mexican experience which was my favorite!!! Do yourself a favor and hit up Secrets when you want baecation or Breathless when you want to party!!

We spent our 39th anniversary there and just returned from spending our 40th there. The place is always great. Everything is top notch. The service is great, especially are poolside waiter Nedel. He's been the absolute best two years running. You need a drink he's your man when your drinks about to run out he's there with another one. Very friendly and very respectful. Can't wait to order drinks from him next year

My partner and I enjoyed every moment of our short Friday to Sunday trip in May. We did the ocean view room with hot tub on the balcony. The room and service exceeded our expectations. Friday we enjoyed our balcony hot tub, complimentary tequila and sparkling wine, and room service for dinner. We did the complimentary hydrotherapy Saturday morning. I highly recommend. You get time in the sauna, steam room, cold plunge pool, and hydropool. After that, we were well relaxed and ready for a low key day on the resort. We made a reservation for hibachi Saturday night (reservation needed). Sunday, we spent our morning at a reserved cabana by the pool that was included with our stay. It was exactly what we needed before packing up and getting ready for our flight. If you like nightlife, Breathless is right next door and is more high energy. You get a 2 for 1 by staying at Secrets. With the preferred club amenities and higher energy options next door. Secrets is a more mature low key atmosphere. I'd give the resort a 9/10. The food wasn't as good as I'd like. However, I'll be back many more times with the understanding that the food will not wow me.

Nice Resort, but Too Many Issues for an 8-Night Stay We recently stayed at Secrets Riviera Cancun for eight nights and, unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. There were some positives, but too many maintenance, service, and dining issues for us to rate it higher than three stars. Our original room had a ceiling leak, which was fixed quickly, but the tubs in both rooms were visibly dirty. Our upgraded room had a nice view, but the air conditioner made an awful noise. Some areas of the rooms also felt outdated, with repairs that looked more like temporary patches. We also experienced a temporary resort-wide loss of water pressure, a safe that stopped working right before an excursion, and phones that did not work, forcing us to use the bathroom phone whenever we needed assistance. The resort app was unreliable, and room service orders placed through it did not include all available options. We often had to call instead, and while delivery was quoted at 45–60 minutes, it usually took about 75 minutes. One order took nearly two hours. Dining was our biggest disappointment. The international dinner buffet at The Spoon was “temporarily closed” for our entire nine-day trip. Although there are other restaurants, we did not find the food at most of them very good, so dinner became a struggle and we frequently relied on room service. The Nook was excellent and one of the highlights of our stay. We are UVC members and received a complimentary upgrade, but only for the final two days. We were also told the membership presentation was mandatory. We were promised breakfast and approximately 30 minutes, but breakfast did not begin until around 10:30 and the presentation lasted more than two hours, taking up our entire morning. When we explained that we could not purchase another upgrade during this trip, Christian appeared visibly angry and immediately walked away. The experience felt uncomfortable and overly sales-focused, especially as existing members. Afterward, we barely heard from our assigned UVC representative. On the positive side, the pools were nice, there were daily and nightly activities, karaoke was fun, Cynthia at the desk was wonderful, and we enjoyed seeing the wildlife around the property. Secrets and Breathless are essentially connected, with Secrets being Preferred Club only and Secrets guests having access to both sides. The televisions did not offer streaming apps, and English-language options were very limited, which is worth knowing for a longer stay. By the end of the trip, we felt like we were becoming a nuisance whenever we needed help, so we stopped mentioning several issues and simply said everything was fine. Looking back, though, there were too many problems to overlook. Secrets Riviera Cancun has some enjoyable features, but the inconsistent food, maintenance problems, technology issues, delayed room service, and uncomfortable membership experience kept it from being the relaxing vacation we expected. We likely will not return and would instead choose Dreams Sands, which remains our favorite resort experience so far.
