Beautiful hotel tucked away in the northern part of the island, surrounded by pristine rainforest with access to arguably the cleanest stretch of beach in Langkawi. Rooms are tastefully appointed. Hotel staff were wonderfully hospitable and made our stay extra special with small, thoughtful gestures such as cocktails on arrival and pralines after dinner. Breakfast was out of this world. Perhaps what I enjoyed most were wildlife sightings in and around the hotel, a testament to The Datai's pledge to ecological conservation.

The Datai Langkawi is one of the most extraordinary places our family has ever stayed. Nestled within one of the world’s oldest rainforests, it offers a rare sense of peace, beauty and connection with nature. The culinary experience was exceptional, with a wonderful variety of restaurants, each offering its own unique atmosphere and outstanding cuisine. Every meal was beautifully prepared using the freshest ingredients, while the breakfasts were among the best we’ve ever had an incredible spread with something for everyone and a highlight of each morning. What truly set The Datai apart, however, was its people. Every member of staff went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable, treating us with genuine warmth and kindness. Their thoughtfulness was extraordinary; even after we had left, a member of the team drove all the way to the airport to deliver my husband’s Apple Watch charger that we’d accidentally left behind. It’s this level of care and attention that makes The Datai so special. Surrounded by breathtaking rainforest, incredible wildlife and outstanding hospitality, it gave our family memories that we will treasure for a lifetime.

This is exactly how a hotel should be run and operated. The finish of the hotel itself is beautiful. It feels intimate and has incredible character. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, you feel like the center of attention for the staff. They remember you and remember what you like. They are extremely attentive and it doesn't feel over-the-top at all. The actual grounds themselves are beautiful, well designed, and well catered to. The rooms are well finished, all feel very private, and have a lot of character. They also have separate air conditioning units for the bathroom and the bedroom so that you can control the temperature separately, which is wonderful The beds are really comfortable. However if you don't like the bedding, they have eight different other sets of bedding you can choose from All the meals are fantastic, beautifully cooked. The wait staff are fantastic and even between different restaurants the wait staff will know your preferences The stay itself is absolutely flawless. There's nothing you can fault at all staying at this hotel

Memories left with great hospitality & excellent facilities. It's The People who makes this place wonderful. Their job nothing less than fulfilling every single request & makes guest happy. Thank you to Mr Jaya, Ms Izzati for checking us in & all Datai crews. Keep up the good work & I'm proud we had such hospitality levelled with other famous luxury resorts in Asia. Facilities are well-maintained with the high-quality woods, surrounded with rich flora & fauna. We spotted hornbill when we were on the room balcony which was brilliant! Little thing to be improved was housekeeping team in making it seamless & smooth, especially with us having baby on board. Turn-down service could be done much earlier rather than 8.30pm, housekeeping/turn-down job could be done when guest was out for breakfast/lunch/dinner, so it's all ready when we are back. This could be achieved by a good communication between concierge & housekeeping team which we have experienced it in some other places. Standards of housekeeping can be improved too, first day water bottles was placed on bedside with a set of tv remote on the bed which was excellent, second day it wasn't. A thrash of empty cracker was on the poolside table since day 1 till we checked out, housekeeper would need to put more effort on the balcony too. Nevertheless, it wasn't a big deal for us & I'd still be coming back to this place soon!

The resort excels on multiple fronts: Staff and service. The people here truly make the stay. Everyone is warm and welcoming, every single day. Special credit to Dorcys at check-in and check-out, who was lovely throughout, and to the concierge team for arranging our tours. The buggy drivers were always available on request and great company too. You can tell Datai genuinely looks after its staff, and it shows in how they treat guests. Spa. We booked multiple treatments. My wife had the Flower Ritual, which she said was the best spa treatment she’s ever had — she felt completely relaxed afterwards and booked a second massage with the same therapist. I had a wonderful treatment with Ameera, who worked out several knots and areas of tension; my sleep noticeably improved afterwards. The setting adds so much — the sound of running water and the surrounding forest amplify the sense of calm. Food. Huge credit to the chefs and front-of-house team. Tony was a wonderful, welcoming presence, and special thanks to Khalil and Eddie at Gulai House, who went out of their way to accommodate our dietary requests — masala dosa for breakfast, baingan bharta, channa masala. The food quality was outstanding, especially Khalil’s tandoor dishes. Rooms. Exceptional. We booked the Premium Forest Villa, perched higher up so you’re truly immersed in the canopy — the sounds of the forest are constant and never disappoint. The room was beautifully finished, from the layout and furniture to the huge bathtub and quality linens. Nice touches like turndown chocolates didn’t go unnoticed. Grounds and facilities. The property blends into the forest beautifully — red lipstick palms, and dusky leaf monkeys and hornbills visible in the foliage daily. The butterfly walk is lovely. The pools are a good size and set right among the trees, a genuinely relaxing spot. The gym is well equipped with the latest Technogym kit, has a great view of the beach, and the staff there are polite and helpful. Breakfast. Staff are attentive and happy to help with requests. The à la carte menu was a pleasant surprise after too many mediocre hotel buffets — genuinely excellent. The bakery and juice station were both great. I’d recommend the roti canai and the black honey. My personal favourites from the à la carte menu were the pancakes and the Turkish eggs. The team even made masala dosa for my wife on request. As coffee lovers, we found the standard breakfast coffee a bit average, but were glad to find speciality roasts available in the lobby — the “World Champion” bean is highly recommended. Activities. We loved the range on offer. The rainforest canopy walk was a highlight — our guide, Ritz, was excellent and clearly very knowledgeable, spotting a young reticulated python sunbathing on a branch, a sleeping lemur, and a monitor lizard hunting on the forest floor. As a family, being that immersed in dense forest for the first time was unforgettable. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate for the forest creek tour, so we’ll save that for our next visit.
