I stayed at The ShellSea Krabi for one week and overall had a pleasant experience. The biggest highlight is the staff — incredibly kind, attentive, and always making you feel like a valued guest. The shuttle to Ao Nang is very convenient, and I appreciated the activities available, including paddleboards and kayaks. The pool staff were wonderful, and breakfasts offered a good variety. The pizza at the beach bar was also very tasty. On the downside (subjectively), both lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant did not meet my expectations. The food felt overpriced for the region and not particularly flavorful. Some menu combinations also seemed a bit unusual and didn’t work well in terms of taste. Overall, it was a nice stay thanks to the excellent service and welcoming atmosphere.

What a dream location. The ShellSea is a truly luxurious resort — the staff are warm and attentive, and the entire property is spotless and impeccably maintained. The Pool Garden Seaview Villa is incredibly spacious, beautifully designed, and offers a stunning view that makes you feel immersed in nature from the moment you wake up. The resort grounds are simply gorgeous. The hilly garden gently slopes down toward the beach, creating a peaceful, scenic atmosphere everywhere you walk. The swimming pools are beautiful and perfectly integrated into the landscape — ideal for relaxing during the day or enjoying the sunset in total tranquillity. We celebrated our wedding here, and I have to say that apart from a few small organisational issues during the planning process, everything on the wedding day itself went perfectly. Supattra and the whole team went above and beyond to make every moment special and seamless. Their care, attention, and professionalism made us feel truly looked after, allowing us to fully enjoy such an important day. If I had to celebrate my wedding again, I would choose this place without hesitation. One of the best resorts in Krabi — not only for the location and facilities, but for the people who make the experience unforgettable. Thank you for making our wedding such a special and memorable day.

Just loved our stay here. The staff are wonderful, the location is perfect and we didn’t need for anything. We even borrowed bikes to help with local exploration. Also kayaks or paddle boards if you want to explore the bay. This offers a lovely escape from the bustle of some of the local areas. We were really pleased that we decided NOT to go to the islands, which look like a cattle market! So spoiled. We are loved the varied breakfast but chose to visit the little rustic God-le shack which is 500m away (turn right outside the hotel and walk up the road and find it on the right). Amazing and authentic Thai food in a perfect setting. The pool areas at the Shell Sea are varied, something for everyone. The only comment that was slightly negative was the loungers under the trees need updating as they are a bit grubby. Really liked this hotel and our 4 night stay.

This was the biggest disappointment of our month-long trip in Thailand. Given the price and 5-star rating, our expectations were much higher. We stayed in a pool access room. The first room we were assigned had a very strong musty smell, which appeared to be masked with an intense artificial fragrance. It seemed the staff were already aware of this issue. After requesting a change, we were moved to another room without the artificial scent, which was somewhat acceptable. The location was another major drawback. There is very little within walking distance, and transportation was inconvenient. Hotel taxis were approximately three times more expensive than Bolt, while Bolt drivers often declined to come to the resort, making it a constant challenge to arrange transport. Aside from these issues, the resort itself did not offer anything particularly memorable or enjoyable that would justify its 5-star status. We were also surprised to see extra charges for sauna use, which is uncommon for resorts at this level. Overall, the experience did not reflect the price or the rating, and we left feeling it did not offer good value for money.

BAD Value We stayed in room 1204. The hotel has a pleasant environment and well-designed spaces, but the room maintenance is extremely poor. The bathroom grout has turned yellow and is clearly deteriorated. The drainage is inadequate—when showering, the water overflowed and flooded up to my feet. Only one sink was usable; the other was clogged and overflowed. In the toilet area, the bidet hose was leaking, causing water to pool on the floor, even though this area should have remained dry. The walls also showed water stains and black mould marks. Additionally, the pillows had an unpleasant smell. I had to ask staff to replace all four pillows, yet none of them were down pillows as expected—they lacked shape, were clumpy, and very uncomfortable. Even after replacement, the pillowcases still smelled like sweat. The bed sheets also did not feel clean or fresh; they appeared old and heavily reused. Stains on the old towels with some hairs too…. Pool has no bar service. Everything is do it yourself. Food options were limited and mostly consisted of cheap selections. Dirty plates were left piled on our table, with no staff making an effort to clear them. To top it off, we were promised a checkout time at 01.30 However, in the morning a staff rang us up and told us to leave at 1. Very Rude For a price of almost 10000 per night, the condition of the room and service was completely unacceptable. We raised our concerns with the staff, who only responded with uncomfortable expressions and made no attempt to resolve the issues. “AVOID STAYING HERE”!!
