What a wonderful hotel and well worth 5 stars. The staff were fantastic and we had a great room with a sea view. The restaurants were very good, although unfortunately we didn't get a chance to visit the steak restaurant. Perhaps next time. Facilities were very good i.e. pools, places to sit and relax, etc. There's not much immediately around the hotel but Hersonissos and Malia are a short bus ride away. Malia was the better site as it was less touristy. Old Hersonissos was good with a few nice restaurants. Bus into Heraklion was OK and the archaeological museum there was fantastic. Didn't get a chance to visit Knossos but hear that is well worth a visit. The Abaton hotel is highly recommended.

Very nice rooms, very friendly and helpful staff (helped me even after I have checked out). Private beach access and private mini pools. Location is good, not city center so takes a while to get by by walking but not impossible (even out of shape).

This hotel’s true value is nowhere near what they charge a night. It is in fact much much lower. You as a customer pay nearly $1000 a night plus more for half board if you so choose and yet the power General manager is a pompous know it all who doesn’t respect his clientele. - power goes out repeatedly during the night. And the room makes countless noises to disturb sleep while power turns back on. And of course AC doesn’t turn back on. - —-no warnings of power outages or any guidance as to when they would stop. - — dangerous when power is out when in shower. No natural light. Slip hazard - Pay $60 per person for half board but water not included. When you bring your own water to restaurants you get scolded at and told to put the water away. This is not the case in many areas in Europe. - Ants in room. Took 24 hrs for them to finally react to our claim. - Pools at the hotel are so cold and unusable especially if you shell out the higher cost for a pool with a room. NOT WORTH IT. - Definitely not worth the high prices.

I would like to make a complaint regarding the lifeguard supervising the beach area in front of the hotel. His behavior has been quite disturbing and, honestly, somewhat creepy, which made us feel uncomfortable during our stay. Additionally, I do not understand the reason for having a lifeguard supervising a beach area that does not even belong to the hotel. I believe this situation should be handled more professionally.

From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful decor and well-maintained facilities. Our room was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities we needed, including a crib for our baby. We were pleasantly surprised when the hotel upgraded our room, adding an extra touch of luxury to our stay. The attention to detail was impressive, and we felt truly pampered throughout our stay. One of the highlights of our visit was the exceptional service provided by the staff. They were always friendly, attentive, and ready to assist with any request. Whether it was providing recommendations for local attractions or ensuring we had everything we needed for our baby, the staff's dedication to guest satisfaction was evident. Overall, our experience at Abaton Hotel was nothing short of amazing. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and family-friendly getaway. We can't wait to return for another memorable stay.
