Review of AluaSoul Orotava Valley Hotel, Puerto de la Cruz Our stay at AluaSoul Orotava Valley left us with very positive impressions. At first, we had a room with a view of Mount Teide, which was also beautiful, but later the hotel management kindly moved us to a room with an ocean view. And it was absolutely amazing! Waking up in the morning and seeing the ocean right from the window is a real pleasure. I highly recommend choosing a room with an ocean view. I would also like to highlight the excellent Wi‑Fi — the internet was fast and stable, and we could comfortably watch our favorite series without any buffering. The food at the hotel was excellent. We especially enjoyed the large selection of fish, the salad with mussels and shrimp, and the very tasty pastries. Everything was fresh, varied, and truly delicious. A real highlight was the barbecue by the pool — it’s simply top-notch! Delicious food, a pleasant atmosphere, and a beautiful view make the evening especially cozy. The staff is polite and attentive, and the hotel is clean and comfortable. After the room change, we fully enjoyed our stay. We would gladly return here again and can confidently recommend this hotel for a peaceful and beautiful holiday in Tenerife.

Stayed for 7 days. I don’t really rate this hotel as a 4 star. More of a 3 star for sure. All inclusive is absolutely not worth it. We paid extra for the convenience but ended up still paying more for drinks as the menu was rubbish. Every drink we got served was different or wrong. I don’t think people on the bar have any clue how to make them. Pool area is so small, there is never enough loungers and people have to sit on floor or chairs. For such a big hotel that’s really disappointing. Food is really repetitive and not much choice during lunch time. Our room was fine but drawers were falling apart same as the little x8 mirror so we couldn’t use it. Probably the only good thing about the hotel is the quietness and area away from all the partying. Staff are rude and just stare at you. The only staff that made our week is the fresh food chefs and Marco at the bar. The entertainment is very Spanish based not really good for English speakers. This lacks a bit of actual fun. Unfortunately we won’t be staying again. To top it all off. We were planing to catch the shuffle bus into town at 10:40 which never came so I went into reception to asked about it and they said it was a bank holiday today. What ?! At what point and where does this appear ? No one has advised us or there was no notice anywhere. Poor communication.

The food is bad. Really boring, without taste and towards lower quality. Even the scramble eggs are most luckily the premixed industrial eggs, without taste. Anna from the reception was excellent, and thank you to Anna for keeping everyone mood up, during the entertainment. I do believe they need to sponsorize more the entertainment. But overall folks..: if you go in Tenerife, you should not take breakfast launch and dinner at the hotel… Tenerife is an island to explore. If you want to do just hotel and swimming pool, go somewhere else cheaper or with better food. The drinks were acceptable for an all inclusive, but the quality of the food , even at the swimming pool bar for a simple hot dog and burger, were the lowest I could see. The cameras were great by the way and there is a big free parking just next to the hotel, so save yourself money there.

Pros: - Modern design with good furnishings. - Friendly restaurant staff, clearing plates quickly and kindly offering to help carry things back to the table. - Spacious room with a big bed (twins together). - Two shower options: normal or rain. - Free nearby parking. - Good view from the lobby area into the town and sea. - Lots of seating available in the lobby and around the hotel. - Great hotel layout with open hallways and easy access to the pool for all floors. - When connected, WiFi speed is very fast. - One of the bartenders (David) was very friendly and helpful, waiting on guests during the evening entertainment. - Having actual decent sized glasses for breakfast drinks. - Good entertainment every night. Cons: - Not enough sun beds for all guests meaning many have to sit in chairs. - The same drinks are served at both the main bar and pool bar, however, only some of these are available at the pool bar as part of the all inclusive package. - Rooms are fairly bland, lacking character. - Some areas of the hotel are in disrepair, including dents, scratches, marks, holes in the ceiling with active water leaking, stains in the carpets. - Poor lunch provided at the restaurant on the first day with limited options. Only one main dish was available and everything else was sides. - Lunch on the second day provided more protein options, however, each was cooked to order meaning you have to stand at the kitchen and wait for each item to be cooked. While we appreciated this meaning it was all fresh, this should instead be done by table service to avoid standing and waiting, or simply have these items precooked as a buffet. - The need to pay a deposit to get a pool towel, not something to be expected at a four-star hotel. - Pool towels are limited to only one per guest. - Pool towels are not long enough for the sun loungers by half. - No snacks or food available in the evening after dinner has finished at 21:30. - Open access to all room areas and lifts, meaning anyone can come in off the street and access all parts of the hotel - these areas should be keycard controlled. - Only two choices of juice at breakfast: orange and pineapple. Both are not chilled. - Foul smell of sewage around the outside of the hotel where many balconies are and where the sun beds are for the pool. - No food served at the pool bar between 13:00-15:00. - No non-fizzy drinks available at lunch or dinner from the restaurant, except water - no juice or squash. - Many of the plates in the restaurant were visibly dirty. - On both days after housekeeping had visited, they left our ground floor balcony doors unlocked, despite us locking it between these visits for security. - Inaccurate timings given for food service at the pool bar. Every time they would say “10 minutes” regardless of how busy it was - the more common times were 25-30 minutes. - There is weak WiFi signal at the far end of the sun bed area. You can connect but it frequently drops out. - Individual serving at the main bar (Marco) was rude when we ordered drinks, he made the wrong one and when we politely requested the correct one, he argued, rolled his eyes, walked off and made it, and slammed the correct drink down - all without saying anything. The second night he was also rude when ordering drinks with a similar attitude. This was what made us move the rating from a 3 star to a 2 star - in a 4 star hotel, you except good service, never less than respectful, not rudeness.

I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. We stayed here for 8 days on an all-inclusive basis and had a very positive experience. The drinks are perfectly fine, and you don’t have to stick strictly to the menu. Fancy a rum and cola, dark rum, or whisky and cola? All of that is possible. Within the all-inclusive selection there is more than enough choice, so there is little to complain about in that regard. The pool bar is also well organized. You can go there until 1:00 p.m., and from 3:00 p.m. onwards you can get snacks again. In between, you can simply have lunch in the restaurant. There is plenty of choice at the pool bar, such as nachos, toasted sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, and pita with hummus. Everything is included in the all-inclusive package. The rooms are spacious, clean, and are tidied up properly every day. There are plenty of sunbeds and enough space at both the main pool and the smaller pool downstairs. Breakfast and dinner are simply good. There is plenty of choice and the quality is fine. Some dishes were even better than what I make myself at home. Don’t get me wrong, this is not an all-inclusive experience like you would find in Turkey or Egypt. Outside those countries, that standard is simply less common. But within Southern Europe, this hotel is definitely one of the better all-inclusive experiences I have had, and I have stayed at quite a few by now. That is why I don’t fully understand the negative reviews. I get the impression that some guests have expectations that are different from what is realistic for the price you pay here. In any case, we had a fantastic stay and look back on it with a very good feeling.
