We recently stayed at the Barceló Santiago and unfortunately came away disappointed. Right from check-in there were problems. The toilet didn't have the paper seal that shows it's been cleaned, and in fact there were still traces of feces in it when we first walked into the room. Not a great start. The air conditioning barely cooled the room, and to make things worse, the room was full of ants from the very first day. The shower drain didn't work properly either, so water pooled at your feet every time you showered. Food was another letdown. Breakfast was mediocre at best, and some of it was clearly leftovers from the day before. Also worth knowing: dinner is only served until 22:00 and the pool closes at 19:00, so if you like eating a bit later like we do, you simply can't have dinner at the hotel. Parking is another issue — 20€ per night, which is extremely expensive, and you can't book it online, so you're gambling on there being a free spot when you arrive. The one genuinely positive thing I'll say is that the reception staff were lovely. They treated us very well and honestly tried to fix every problem we raised. It's a shame the rest of the hotel didn't match their effort.

Spectacular view and friendly staff, but a massive disappointment and an outdated resort Let’s start with the positives: the view from room 724 was breathtaking and the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, this does not compensate for what was a highly disappointing experience at this 4-star Adults Only resort. We booked a Junior Suite for a quiet getaway, but suffered from severe, structural noise from the hotel entertainment every night (21:00 - 23:00, sometimes later). Even with earplugs, sleep was impossible. Be aware: almost all ocean-view rooms experience this. The resort is outdated and lacks maintenance. Our room had broken terrace tiles, a loose balcony railing, a barely working AC (bedroom stayed boiling hot), and a broken fridge. On top of that, the "no reserving sunbeds" policy is completely ignored by staff. When we complained, management refused financial compensation. Instead, we got a dinner voucher for the buffet. The food was terrible: cold, dry, and undercooked. As a final insult, we received a generic 10% discount code for a future stay—a code anyone can find online. If you want a peaceful, high-quality Adults Only retreat, avoid this place.

If you like friendly staff and a spectacular oceanview, this hotel is definitely a good choice for you. However, if you love peace and quiet—which is exactly what you would expect from a 4-star Adults Only hotel—I strongly recommend booking a room at another hotel on this beautiful island. Most rooms face the ocean and the impressive cliffs of Los Gigantes. The entertainment area is located between the ocean and the hotel, meaning that every single room is subjected to the loud noise and heavy beats. And this happens every night, until the late hours! Getting a quiet night's sleep is virtually impossible. We had to wear earplugs, but the bass was so intense that it barely made a difference. In short: stunning views, but zero peace and quiet. Combined with substandard food and a management team that clearly doesn't care about guest satisfaction, we cannot recommend this hotel. Save your money and find a place where you can actually enjoy your well deserved vacation.

The hotel has a beautiful view of the ocean and the cliffs. The hotel team was great, but the overall standard of the hotel is at most three stars. It was disappointing that upon arrival there wasn’t a single bottle of water in the room, even though we had booked a deluxe room. Apparently, to receive water you have to be registered in their Barceló Club. There were very few hangers. The furnishings are older, and there is limited space in the bathroom. The balcony is missing a table, and the chairs were torn. The bathtub drain did not work properly. At breakfast you are mostly served pre-prepared or processed items. The pastry section consists only of defrosted products. On the other hand, I would like to praise the older lady who prepares made-to-order omelets every morning — she was truly excellent. The biggest disappointment was that they did not allow us a late check-out, even though the hotel was half empty. We asked to stay just one hour longer, but the receptionist automatically said no without any consideration. The location is amazing, but the hotel still has a lot to improve.

Best value for money hotel! The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed. There are a lot of activities to do in the hotel - big shoutout to Manuel from the animation team, he’s super engaging and you can tell he genuinely loves his job. The rooms are clean and the views are amazing. I’d recommend booking on the western side, floors 2–5. Breakfast and dinner are very good, there’s something for everyone.
