Overall, I had a great stay. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and everything was well-maintained. The room was comfortable, and the overall experience met my expectations. The only downside for me was that, as a cigar smoker, there wasn't a designated outdoor area where I could sit, relax, and enjoy a cigar. Having a comfortable smoking area with seating would have made the stay even better. Other than that, I was very pleased with my visit and would definitely consider staying here again.

What an extraordinary experience we had at this all inclusive resort. Very clean inside and out, manicured lawn and plants; birds and small animals indigenous to the area were all beautiful esthetics to the area. A variety of restaurants and ethnic foods, good food choices and availability were welcomed. Many pools and jacuzzi tubs and clean beach area allowed us to keep as cool as possible when the weather was too warm. The Jr. Suites were spacious, clean, nicely decorated inside and out. The incredible resort staff were very helpful and saught to assist in any way possible. Any incidents and issues were handled with grace; staff and attendants worked tirelessly to correct issues. This resort was the place of a Destination Wedding we attended. What a special time we experienced and hope to return soon.

Beautiful Resort Spoiled by Lack of Integrity and Finger-Pointing Be careful when staying at this hotel. The property itself is beautiful, and most of the staff were kind and welcoming, but unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience during our stay. I brought a maternity swimsuit from the U.S. for my niece to use for her maternity pictures while we were all meeting in Cancun from Colombia. I unpacked everything and showed my family the clothes and gifts I brought them, and we left the items on the bed before heading to the pool. When we came back, we had less than an hour to get ready for the circus show, and later that night we returned so late and exhausted that we went straight to bed. The next morning, when my niece looked for the swimsuit for her pictures, it was gone. We searched the room for over an hour before reporting it because we truly thought maybe we had misplaced it. After we filed the complaint, three staff members came to search our room and even searched the other room as if we were making the story up. Later that night they came back, removed drawers, and told us they thought the swimsuit may have fallen behind the furniture. They still could not find it. At first, they told us nobody had entered the room during that time. The next morning, when my husband and I followed up at the Preferred Club, they changed the story and said the cleaning lady had opened the room for only 30 seconds between 6 and 7 PM and then left because she thought someone was sleeping inside. In my opinion, 30 seconds is more than enough time to grab a swimsuit that was sitting right on top of the bed and leave quickly. The inconsistent information was very frustrating. What disappointed me the most was not even the value of the swimsuit itself. We spent over $10,000 on this family trip — we would never lie over a $25 bathing suit. The reason this mattered so much was because it was specifically purchased for my niece’s maternity pictures, and because of this situation she had to wear something else. The hotel shops did not even carry maternity swimsuits as an alternative. In over 10 years of traveling to Cancun, this is the first time we have ever had something disappear from our room. We have left Apple Watches, iPads, and laptops unattended at other resorts without issues. It is shocking that at one of the most expensive hotels we have stayed at, the only thing that “disappeared” was the swimsuit. The lack of accountability and the way the situation was handled left us extremely disappointed.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience warrants one. We recently returned from Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort and, unfortunately, it fell far short of the expectations associated with both the price and Hyatt’s Category D designation. The positives: the beach itself is beautiful, the grounds have potential, and the location in Playa Mujeres is good. Unfortunately, nearly everything else was disappointing. The pools were consistently dirty. I personally removed wrappers and other garbage from the water, and it was impossible to swim without encountering floating leaves, plants, and debris. Used dishes were left sitting in public areas for extended periods (24+Hrs), and dishes placed inside our room ls cubby remained there for 48 hours or more, even after asking for pickup. Service was perhaps the biggest letdown. We often felt like an inconvenience simply by asking for assistance. Staff entered our room while the Do Not Disturb light was illuminated, on more than one occasion, and completely disregarding our privacy. That is an unacceptable behavior! We also paid extra for the Preferred Club experience and never felt that we received the value associated with the additional cost. The upgraded service, attentiveness, and exclusive experience that are marketed as Preferred Club benefits simply were not evident during our stay. Paying a premium should result in a noticeably elevated experience, and unfortunately, it did not. Food quality was inconsistent at best. Meals frequently arrived cold and were often not prepared as requested. Drinks were no better. Ordering the same drink at the same bar often resulted in a completely different product depending on who made it. We were also approached under the guise of receiving assistance with our airport transfer, only to be subjected to a timeshare presentation where “no” did not seem to be an acceptable answer. Finally, on checkout day, we were expected to drag our own luggage to the front of the resort without the assistance that we’ve consistently received at other Hyatt properties. In the past, we’ve had staff assist with luggage and even provide golf cart transportation. Neither was offered here. In our opinion, this resort is severely understaffed and significantly overpriced for the experience it delivers. Aside from the golf course and beautiful location, very little reflected the premium experience we expected. We love Hyatt and have had wonderful experiences at other properties, especially Dreams and Secrets resorts. Unfortunately, Dreams Playa Mujeres was not one of them. Based on this stay, we would not return to this particular resort, nor would we pay the additional cost for Preferred Club, as it really didn’t provide any real benefit at this location.

I recently stayed at Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort for a family wedding. While there were several aspects of the resort that I genuinely enjoyed, a few significant issues left me disappointed. First, the positives. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-maintained. I especially enjoyed the room, balcony, and overall accommodations. The food throughout the resort was generally very good, room service was reliable, and the bartenders made excellent drinks. The property itself is beautiful and has many qualities that should make for a great vacation experience. Unfortunately, there were also some notable drawbacks. The swimming pools were uncomfortably warm and offered little relief from the Mexican heat. What made this particularly frustrating was that we had access to the neighboring Secrets resort, where the pools were cool, refreshing, and far more enjoyable. The difference was immediately noticeable. More concerning was an experience my family had at Mezes, the Mediterranean restaurant. During a family dinner, one of our relatives told a joke and our table laughed. A staff member quickly approached us and harshly admonished us to be quiet. Later that same evening, other tables were laughing and making similar levels of noise, yet no one approached them. Our group was Black, and the groups that were not addressed were White. Based on what we observed, I was left with the impression that we were treated differently. Whether intentional or not, the inconsistent treatment was difficult to ignore. When we asked to speak with a manager, hoping to discuss the situation, the interaction only added to our frustration. The manager was dismissive of our concerns and appeared annoyed that we had raised them. Rather than listening and attempting to understand our perspective, he rolled his eyes and made us feel as though our concerns were unimportant. I came away with mixed feelings about this resort. The accommodations, food, drinks, and housekeeping were excellent. However, the pool conditions and, more importantly, the way our concerns were handled by restaurant management prevented this from being the positive experience it should have been.
