Great four night stay at Kuala Lumpur. The Grand Hyatt was superb in all terms, we really enjoyed our stay with this "up-side-down" hotel. What a breakfast, so many selectios with impeccable friendly service and what a view. One great breakfast attendants was discussing with us every morning regards yesterdays actions and todays plans. Everybody we talked were so friendly. Big pool area to relax the days efforts away.

I was in KL for 4 days and 3 nights, and I stayed here for 1 night (31 May–1 June). I purposely booked Grand Hyatt for my last night because I wanted to end my holiday on a high note. I had previously been staying at another 5-star hotel, but since Hyatt is known for its luxurious stays, I expected more from them. We drove to KL from Singapore, so we entered the hotel through the car park lift. When we reached the ground floor, my first impression was already not great. We had a baby, luggage, and a stroller with us, but there was no one around to guide us or inform us that check-in was at the Sky Lobby. The interior also looked rather dated, and there was no signature scent, which is something I have come to expect from most luxury hotels. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was only the ground floor and not the actual check-in lobby. We went up to check in and left our luggage with the concierge. When we reached the lobby, we were greeted by a long queue of guests waiting to check in. Again, I gave them the benefit of the doubt—perhaps many people had decided to check in late that day. We arrived after 5pm. Since I was carrying my baby, I sat in the lounge area while my husband queued. During that time, I noticed that no one was clearing the tables. There was also no signature scent in the lobby. Overall, there was no luxurious feel during our first moments at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. After waiting for some time, my husband was informed that our room would not be ready for another hour. The same issue seemed to affect many other guests in the queue. To me, it was a huge red flag that guests checking in after 5pm were still being told to wait for their rooms. We were “upgraded” to a room with a garden view and were also informed that we would receive RM200 in hotel credit as compensation for the delay. To be honest, we had already planned to have dinner at KLCC, but we felt compelled to use the credit. The in-room dining was also not great. An hour later, we approached the reception to check whether our room was ready. It took quite a while for the staff member to verify room availability. However, she was kind enough to bring us to the lounge while she checked, as she noticed we had a baby with us. We waited around 15 minutes in the lounge before she informed us that a room was available and that we would receive our key card within 5 minutes. True to her word, she managed to arrange everything for us. I am sorry that I did not get her name, but I genuinely appreciate her effort and assistance. We finally received our key card at around 6:30pm, or slightly later—I cannot recall the exact time. The room was a corner room with a partial garden and city view. Unfortunately, by this point, the end of my vacation already felt ruined. The room itself was very outdated. The curtains were messy, there were random specks of white dust around the room, the glass walls were stained, the cushions looked dusty with loose threads sticking out, and even the kettle and coffee machine were dusty. It felt more like a spare room than a premium hotel room—though thankfully, it wasn’t haunted! To cut a long story short, I honestly felt embarrassed for the hotel given the standards they displayed. The only reason I am giving it 2 star because the breakfast buffet was excellent. There was a wide variety of food and beverages, and the quality was impressive. I also appreciate the efforts of the hotel staff, who were genuinely apologetic throughout the experience. However, it became quite frustrating to repeatedly hear that they were busy due to high occupancy and the long weekend. I have stayed at other hotels during long weekends before, and they managed the situation much better. Ultimately, I believe the management needs to do better because this was, unfortunately, a 1-star experience despite being marketed as a luxury 5-star hotel.

Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur has a presence that you feel quite quickly, especially once you arrive at the main foyer. The grand staircase sets the tone, and it gives the place a sense of occasion right from the start. What I’ve always found memorable is the arrival experience at the top-floor lobby. Checking in there, combined with the dining spaces and views, creates a strong impression every time. The food is consistently good, and when you pair that with the skyline, it becomes one of those settings you actually look forward to returning to. I also have a more personal connection here. One of my close friends held her wedding and reception at the hotel, and I was involved in leading the event management. It is the kind of place that works well for those moments. The layout, atmosphere, and overall flow support both social and formal events quite naturally. The rooms feel comfortable and properly luxurious, though slightly more traditional in style compared to some of the newer hotels. If you think about it, it sits nicely between the familiarity of Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur and the sharper modern feel of Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur. 👉 If you’re exploring Kuala Lumpur as a place to live or invest, I share deeper KL living insights on my YouTube channel.

We booked a total of 3 rooms and stayed for four nights on the 28th floor to celebrate my mom's birthday. The staff did a great job at decorating the room for a surprise to my mom. It was a nice staycation for all of us, we indulged in the breakfast every morning along with lounge access. The rooms are all configured the same even though I requested for 3 adults per room, they just added an extra roller bed which is why we ended up with 3 rooms. The mattress quality is poor and this is the consensus from all 3 rooms, all 6 of us. The chaise was actually more comfortable to sleep on and that's what I ended up doing. Felt like the rooms are more geared for couples or honeymooners but the lack of insulation between bathroom/toilet from the "living" area means you can hear everything 😁 Other than that, the location is great, we had a few visitors and everyone loved taking pictures with the twin towers. We also utilized the sauna, even though the jacuzzi could need an upgrade in the ladies-it was too loud to hold any conversation but the sauna was nice. Pool was great with nice views. Overall a great value for us, everyone we encountered were very nice from front desk to lounge to housekeeping. Breakfast was definitely the highlight which we all enjoyed. Personally I was just loading up on the nasi lemak and roti canai/curry/idli/sambar and kombucha 😍

This was my first stay at Grand Hyatt KL. The hotel itself is modern, elegant, and the facilities are excellent. The property certainly looks and feels like a luxury hotel. However, the service experience felt slightly lacking for a five star standard. While everything was pleasant, there seemed to be a lack of coordination and attentiveness from the staff. One example happened late at night when I went to the gym around 11pm. The spa entrance was already closed, and a staff member told me to access the gym by going up to the 38th floor and taking another elevator down. Around midnight, the gym air conditioning was turned off, and when I left, some workers doing floor maintenance outside were surprised to see me and even asked if I was staff. They also told me not to come back in after leaving and locked the door.(gym fitness 24hours) Overall, the hotel is beautiful, but the service experience could be improved to truly match the Grand Hyatt brand and five-star expectations.
