I had a wonderful time at Grand Serenis in Mexico. The property was beautiful and each day was filled with a balance of things to do and plenty of time to relax and be taken care of by the friendly staff. From the moment we arrived we felt truly welcomed and cared for. Daily buffets for breakfast lunch and dinner were amazing—a smorgasbord of global cuisines. The boutique restaurants only plussed the food game. AnaBé, our very capable and kind concierge, helped to get us dinner bookings at the perfect times. She can also set you up at the spa, which is a MUST, at the very least for a welcome or wind-down ritual. Poolside entertainment is always great fun. When you visit, I hope you get a chance to play some games or work out with Daniel, or “Chocolate Danny” as he playfully calls himself, who stood out as a quick-witted, energetic activity host. The bike tour was a cool departure from the interior resort activities. Our excursion took us in around the perimeter of the resort to visit a botanical garden where we learned about local plant species and little bit of Mayan and Aztec culture, then visited 3 cenotes hidden in the property enclosure, and rounding off with a ride through the more serene parts near the chapel by the beach. This part of the beach was cleared of sargassum which made it great for pictures. Overall, a fantastic stay. I could go on about enjoying morning yoga and stretch classes, a variety of pools with different crowd vibes to explore, a lazy river, painting, big entertainment shows, and smaller more intimate club-like music performances—this place has it all! My only two hangups were when water didn’t get refilled in our room (make sure you take the bottles with you to hydrate, they only replenish what’s missing or empty) and the overwhelming stench of rotting sargassum at the beach. We knew we wouldn’t have beach time this season and would stay at the pool for waterside fun, so all was good.

We have been here a week with a few more days to go. There are many positive points and I will mention them before I describe the one (but very big) negative point. Lovely hotel spread out over several buildings. Nice room, kept very clean by staff. The hotel is literally built into the jungle so loads of wildlife including boa constrictors green vine snakes, iguanas (lots of them), coatis, agouti, monkeys and much more. The food is excellent, there are several specialist restaurants (we have tried 3 as some are fully booked) but the buffet restaurant is brilliant. Loads of bars with very friendly and professional bar staff, in fact all staff have been great. The pools are impressive, large and kids friendly. BUT there is one negative issue that is a real problem for us, it’s seaweed. This might seem trivial, but it is not!! There are literally tons of seaweed on the beach or just off shore. It appears Sargassum seaweed can undergo “blooms” and this has been an increasing problem for the last 15 years! Now the hotel is doing its best to combat this with screening nets out in the ocean and tractors that tow big raking units behind them to try and clear the seaweed from the beach. This probably helps but when the wind and currents are in the wrong direction the seaweeds swamps these measures. In addition to the physical mass on the beach and the sea, the smell is awful (actually exacerbated by the raking process). Since we have been here, the beach by the main beach bar has been unusable. If you walk along the beach (a few hundred meters) there are clearer areas and you can get into the sea (on a good day!!). Now I know this is not the hotels fault and they are trying to mitigate the issue but I am miffed TIU made no mention of this issue in their literature (well they do but in my opinion, they greatly understate its significance). When I spoke to the TUI rep she stated “ you can go to other beaches”. Well I picked this resort so I wouldn’t have to! All I can say is, if you choose to come here, research the seaweed bloom risk for the period your intended stay if the beach is important to your holiday.

My partner and I had the most amazing stay at Grand Sirenis and we are so sad it’s over. The resort is huge full of various animals and the friendliest staff, you can’t walk past anybody without getting the biggest smile and hello. On our first day here we met our concierge Jarrod and our holiday changed significantly because of him in the best way possible. He showed us pure luxury through the Unlimited Leisure Club and we upgraded straight away which was the best decision. The luxury and service you receive is second to none. If you happen to get Jarrod as your concierge count yourself lucky, he always ensured you had the best stay, booked every restaurant we wanted for us, told us the best way to get to a lagoon which is a hidden secret here. He seemed genuinely interested in what you were saying and actually listened. I will always remember Saiet from the beach club who could not do enough for us, always checking that we were okay and actually staying to chat with us. Danny Boy was hilarious, you could spend forever in the pool in stitches watching him perform and make his jokes. Not to mention the Bingo and Loteria which we never missed. The food was exceptional, whether it was the buffet which had a SUCH a wide variety of food and drink, or the à la carte restaurants which really felt like you were in posh restaurants every day. Do yourself a favour and book this hotel you will not regret it!!!

At the Members Beach Club , thankyou Alex and McDonald for making sure we where comfortable and had what we needed. Saret and Karen for your non stop attention to the guests on the beach you seem to know exactly what we needed and when, WOW you work hard. Sonia in the members lounge , thankyou for starting our day of so well, with coffee and a Spanish lesson. Hugo, we so looked forward to your smile in the evening , your knowledge of cocktails and your sense of humour if we could have smuggled you back to England as our adopted son we would have, but we, don't think you would last long in the cold . and finally our concierges. Isa, Octavio and we are sorry we cant remember the name of of the over young man who worked in block 24, they all cared for us , took care of our bookings, arranged transport and it was nice how the greeted us each morning and made sure we where ok and had every thing we needed. as you can see from the above you will have a great time, with people that treat you like Family. would highly recommend, Cant wait to visit again

Amazing experience!! Great service from McDonald, Saret and Enrique at the Members Beach Club area!! All three went over and above to ensure we had everything we needed! Kuddos for hiring such wonderful staff!! 👏 👏 Restaurants were great! Room was great (except for a lack of drawers etc for us to unpack our suitcase and no space except for the floor in the shower for our shampoo, etc). Other than that, all in all a GREAT experience! Thank You!!!
