Writing this while currently in resort. Good thing is golf carts, service at the pool side. Everything else is worst, avoid this place as much as possible. Rooms are not great, pretty old property. Yesterday there was water break in the room, they change the room and reprogrammed our keys for new room. After reaching to room our keys not working. They took 35 mins to send someone who again struggle to open initially. After multiple calls by him to office he was finally open it. The staff who was here didn’t know English so against communication was challenge . The staff who was picking phone hangs in two mins, transfer call to front desk, no one there to pick. Chatted in the app for no help. They said manager will call back but no one actually did. Note front desk is not near you have to go lobby by golf cart. Overall still unsure about not being locked out. Good cart staff good. House keeping is very good. Front desk is very unwelcoming. Most of staff not able to speak English so you had to use phone to translate. Food is below average (vegetarian options). Room credit is not useful anywhere. Give you an example spa only use 50 while without credit you get 40% discount which better. Overall credit is a trap. They can infect give you any amount as credit but you can’t use it. I am not going to stay in palace properties any where. Take your decision informed. Update: It got worse asking question at front desk led to scare. Went to public relation team already. While lock works great today evening thank god. Not much help.

While staying at Moon Palace Sunrise Cancun from June 5 till June 9, money were stolen from a safe. They did it skillfully: only portion of $ were taken and so, all looked good on a surface when inspected content placed in the safe. Day after arriving at another resort and when $ were needed for a purchase, I found out about what was stolen. So, I notified MPS customer service and now awaiting for their findings. However, based on there response to my email it looks grim to me: they are asking me questions that were actually addressed in my initial email and discussed verbally over the phone. So, be careful, guys. Thieves operate at that place ((( Update: as I suspected earlier they are not interested in investigation. Since I don't know the exect date and TIME ??? of theft, they "can not do anything about it." 3 days are in question here. Electronic entrance record to the room is at their disposal. Safe opening/closing log is easily accessible for them as well. So, there would be 3 housekeeping personal in question at most. Yet, "there is nothing we can do." Meaning, MPS gives no rat's behind about their visitors ordeals. Unless you catch a thief yourself and bring him/her to their security desc. And that is not a fact (((

⭐☆☆☆☆ – Extremely Disappointing Experience Our stay at Moon Palace Sunset was one of the most disappointing vacations my family has ever taken. The biggest issue was the food. Several members of my family became sick during our stay after eating at the resort, which completely ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. Instead of enjoying ourselves, we spent much of our trip dealing with stomach illness. Our privacy was also violated when hotel staff entered our room without permission while I was in the shower. This should never happen at any hotel. We booked this trip together as a family, yet the resort separated our rooms. The front desk was not helpful in resolving the situation despite our requests. The sales staff were rude and extremely pushy, making us feel uncomfortable whenever we were approached. The beach was another huge disappointment. The water was brown during our stay and not appealing for swimming. The smell around the beach and nearby hotel hallways reminded us of dirty diapers, making it unpleasant to even walk through those areas. The only highlight of the resort was the pools, which were clean, beautiful, and enjoyable. One of the biggest frustrations was that many of the best amenities seemed to be reserved for guests staying at the Grand Moon Palace. We even noticed coconuts being collected from trees around the property and taken to the Grand while guests at Sunset could not enjoy them. We also were not allowed to use the Grand’s amenities, even though we were paying premium resort prices. The property is also far too large. You have to rely on golf carts to get almost everywhere, and we frequently waited 15–20 minutes for transportation. This made getting around the resort frustrating and time-consuming. Several restaurants and food options were closed during our stay, including the pizza restaurant by the pool, which further limited dining choices. The resort store was extremely overpriced and didn’t even carry basic medications like Tums, which would have been helpful given how many of us were experiencing stomach issues. The advertised hotel credits sounded valuable when booking, but they came with so many restrictions that they were essentially useless. Room service was also very slow, taking well over an hour to deliver our food. We reported our concerns—including the illnesses, room privacy issue, and other service problems—to hotel management. Their response was simply, “We’re sorry.” No meaningful effort was made to resolve the issues or compensate us for the experience. Overall, we left feeling that the resort focused more on selling upgrades and promoting the Grand Moon Palace than providing a quality experience for Sunset guests. Between the food-related illness, privacy concerns, poor customer service, separated rooms, unpleasant beach conditions, closed restaurants, overpriced store, slow transportation, restricted amenities, and lack of meaningful support from management, I cannot recommend Moon Palace Sunset. The pools were the only part of our stay that met our expectations.

Our stay at Moon Palace ended up being a bittersweet experience, and I think it’s important to share both the positives and negatives. The good: Edrei at reception was kind and helpful throughout our stay. He assisted us with a room upgrade upon arrival and also helped arrange a late check-out, which we truly appreciated. The food was good overall, and thankfully nothing caused any issues. The bartenders, waiters, and service staff were generally friendly and attentive. The hotel app also worked very well. We used it to order food, request hygiene items, and communicate with the concierge through the internal chat, which was convenient and efficient. The bad: Unfortunately, the negative aspects were significant. From the moment we arrived, we felt pressured to schedule a visit to The Grand. It felt less like an invitation and more like being pushed into attending, using a day pass, and eventually agreeing to whatever was being offered. We spent about 30 minutes after check-in explaining to the concierge that we simply wanted to enjoy the stay we had already paid for, but the persistence became exhausting. What made it worse was that the concierge spent considerable time explaining The Grand while barely taking any time to explain Sunrise, which was the property we were actually staying at. I understand sales efforts are part of the business, but this felt excessive and uncomfortable. On top of that, we were asked very personal questions such as when we were getting married and why we didn’t have children, which felt completely inappropriate. The second issue was much more serious. We attended a wedding at Nizuc, and the wait staff accidentally threw away my partner’s insulin pen. My partner has Type 1 diabetes, so this is not just a personal item — it is essential medication. The staff at Nizuc apologized and directed us to Public Relations to resolve the issue. We explained everything to Linda in Public Relations, who told us they could help us obtain a replacement medication, but that the hotel would not cover the cost. The replacement cost was approximately $70 USD, and honestly, paying for it was never the issue. What concerns me is the lack of professionalism and common sense behind throwing away a guest’s medication and then refusing to take responsibility for it. To me, situations like this define the difference between a luxury hotel and an average one. The insulin itself is not just another item — for my partner, it is literally the difference between life and death. Linda simply delayed the situation, saying that if the hotel were to take responsibility, an investigation would need to be opened and that it would take time. There seemed to be little interest in showing empathy or urgency beyond offering to call a pharmacy. This happened one day before our departure, leaving a very bitter ending to what could have otherwise been a good experience. Thank you for the positive moments, but unfortunately we will not be returning. We have stayed at Secrets in the past and have never had experiences like this, so we will continue choosing that route.

Our family really enjoyed Moon Palace Cancun. We went with extended family, and it ended up being a great place for kids and cousins to spend time together. There were tons of things for the kids to do, and they had a blast. They loved the arcade, the pools, the FlowRider, the golf carts to get around the resort, and of course the unlimited food and treats. The pools were very nice. Some areas felt a little older and had a few small issues, but overall they were clean, enjoyable, and well maintained. The grounds were mostly clean, and one thing we really appreciated was how quiet our room was. My biggest issue was the room layout. The rooms do not seem very well set up for families. There is a strange tub in the main living area that takes up valuable space, and it almost feels like the resort was originally designed more for couples and has since shifted into more of a family resort. Check-in was also frustrating. After traveling for about nine hours with two young kids, the check-in process took far too long. Then we were pushed into sitting through a sales pitch, which was the last thing we wanted to deal with after a long travel day. That said, we would go back. If you are looking for more of an adult trip, there are probably better places. But if you are traveling with kids, especially with cousins or other families with kids around the same age, Moon Palace is a great choice. The kids had an amazing time, and for a family trip, that matters a lot.
