Just got back from a week there. Took my family with teenagers. Activities were engaging for the teenagers, but not quite sufficient to keep them busy all the time. Facilities, location, and staff all excellent. Rooms very nice. Food at the buffets is good not great. It is impossible to have gourmet buffet food when you are serving a few hundred people 16 hours a day. Very good value for the money. À la carte options very good. Recommend planning some excursions off the property if you really want to see coral and sea life.

First time here at occidental cozumel and won’t be the last. The resort is gorgeous and well maintained. The beach is not the longest but beautiful with crystal clear turquoise water.the staff is very polite and welcoming. We just had dinner at Mexico Lindo and everything was amazing: special thank you to david, samos, miguel and Luis that made it a night to remember. As for the buffet , the breakfast is great , at night we never went hungry and was able to find good food throughout the week. The beach buffet for lunch is great and the vue is very nice. It’s the perfect getaway vacation for relaxation and lush tropical feel. Can’t wait to be back

The First Club staff is exceptional. This was our first year using our membership so we didn’t understand the best way to use it. Alberto and his team did a great job of explaining everything. Merial showed us the best way to use our points for excursions and activities. When Alberto did not have a vendor for an activity we wanted to do, he helped us find a reputable alternative. Before our trip started Alberto was able to answer our questions about the resort since it was new to us. The Team also congratulated us on all the anniversary and birthday events we were celebrating and delivered flowers to our room. Gabriel and Ricardo from the vacation club team were incredibly helpful in assisting us for future trip planning and maximizing our membership. We used the first club lounge to play cards at night. It was great and a lot of fun. We have only been to 2 resorts - Xcaret and Cozumel. Both were great. Cozumel is much more laid back while Xcaret has a party all the time. We have enjoyed both and both resorts have been wonderful Thank you Cozumel staff for a wonderful time!!

This was our 4th or 5th extended stay at Occidental Cozumel, and it truly feels like coming home instead of staying at a hotel. The people here are what make it so special. From Leo, Laura and others at the lobby bar and restaurant who make the perfect drinks. Karla by the pool and First club with drinks, but even better conversation. Carlos, Omar, Rosa and Alberto at the First club are always there to help with reservations, questions or just making our stay perfect! Frank, Gabriel, and Nanette treat every member like family. Everyone here always makes us feel welcome and even help me practice my Spanish, which I really appreciate. The grounds are constantly being cleaned and you can always find maintenance being done to keep everything in great condition. If you are looking for a resort where the staff truly cares and take pride in what they do, Occidental Cozumel will not disappoint! We are always looking forward to our next visit!

This resort was absolutely amazing the rooms, service, area and amenities were very nice. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking into a vacation on the island if they don’t have kids and want a more relaxed time and the option to go on excursions or scuba diving. Having the royal level was a must have to the price being able to book dinner reservations check in and out and use the other amenities was well worth the extra cost. All the staff were very friendly especially the bartenders at the Adult pool they really made the stay great. The food was amazing (if you like seafood) and the buffet was also much better than expected in comparison to other resorts. Only a few things I would say were gripes would be the Adult pool definitely needed to be skimmed more than once daily as the trees would drop a decent amount of debris into the water. They do need to invest in more chairs and tables at the beach as they do not have enough to accommodate the number of guests they have staying at one time so you unfortunately have to go down to the beach early in the morning to secure a spot. The beach is also a lot smaller from what they have advertised in the areal photos but is no means small just not as deep due to the water level rising which is not an uncommon thing with resorts in the past few years. If you do decide to go in the water or walk along the beach it’s best to have a pair of water shoes due to the coral and shells that wash up on the shore they will cut your feet if you step on a sharp one. They do take water safety very seriously when the sun starts to go down as they do have sharks sting rays jellyfish and crocodiles which on our stay we did see a crocodile swim right into the buoyed area at the beach so the danger is there. Other than that the stay was great the weather was great the water was clear they don’t seem to get as much of the seaweed washing up on the shore as the east and southern coast does. I will definitely be returning in the future.
