We stayed at Platinum Yucatán Princess for our honeymoon and were extremely disappointed with the overall experience. Prior to arrival, we emailed multiple times about the advertised honeymoon package and never received a response, meaning we were unable to avail of anything at check-in. The check-in process itself felt rushed and impersonal — no welcome drink, minimal explanation of amenities, and we were placed in one of the furthest buildings from the beach and restaurants. Our room had a strong musty smell on arrival and showed visible wear and tear (rust marks on the floor, stained bathtub we couldn’t use, rusty bin, loose fixtures). While housekeeping provided fresh towels daily and the bed was comfortable, the room did not reflect a 5-star standard. Food was average but repetitive, and restaurant reservations are not available. We queued most mornings for the self-service breakfast buffet despite empty tables inside. Valentine’s Day menus and certain seating areas required additional payment, which felt misleading at an “all-inclusive” resort. Cocktails are made using pre-mixed ingredients and were very poor unless you specifically instructed bartenders and requested premium liquor. For a resort in Mexico, the margaritas were particularly disappointing. The pools were clean and landscaping is nice, but the beach is narrow, rocky (water shoes needed), and seaweed buildup was heavy at times. We were also surprised to see children on the beach despite this being marketed as adults-only. For the price point and reputation, this was not a luxury honeymoon experience and we would not return.

I came here 10 years ago and everything was really nice, which is why we decided to come back for a second trip. However, this time we had several issues with the room. The main issue was the AC. The lowest temperature is limited to 22°C, which is cool enough, but it does not remove humidity. The AC system just does not work well, and because of this, our clothes, towels, and sheets felt damp the entire time. The mirrors and faucets had noticeable wear, and the faucet handles had buildup around the edges. The sinks did not drain properly in either sink or in the shower. The base of the sinks was flat and shallow, so water would build up and splash back at you. We had two rooms, and both had the same issues. The vanity area and the AC system need to be upgraded. The elevators were in need of upkeep, and this did not feel like a five-star hotel. We were there from Thursday through Sunday, and the entertainment was just okay. There are supposed to be six restaurants, but every night two were closed. The food at the restaurants was just okay, but the buffet had better-tasting food and plenty of options. The staff, however, was very friendly. Unfortunately, the beach had mostly washed away, with about 25 to 50 yards underwater and a roughly two-foot drop-off where the tide had eroded the sand. There was still plenty of seating along the beach, and there was a restaurant with a bar located on the beach.

We had a lovely vacation here. Food was wonderful, the atmosphere was great, and we found that even though the resort was lively between 12 pm and 5 pm, at night time when we wanted to sleep we couldn't hear any noise at all. It was peaceful and serene. The bed was super comfortable as was the pillows. We loved staying here and would love to return one day again in the future The beach out back of the resort had some seaweed but they were working to resolve it and there was some rocks but 5 mins in either direction it was perfectly clear !

Stayed Feb 16 to Mar 1 2026. Room 1014, or along 1000 block, great swim out rooms, with sunshine most of the day and away from the noise of the main pool. Good+ food, super clean, very friendly staff, comfortable beds, terrible beach because of seaweed and rocks in the water. Saw deer, racoons, coates, iguanas, etc on the property, entertaining. Unbelievably great shows Monday to Friday in the theatre at 10pm. Don’t miss any of these if you stay here. MUST SEE! Some are great fun, but the Michael Jackson was a huge surprise. By far the very best MJ show I have ever seen, and I’ve seen so many.

Very clean. Friendly staff, manicured grounds. Lots of pools and pool chairs. Maintenance very responsive. Wifi is adequate. Buffet and restaurants are very dark as are public restrooms. Beach is non existent and rocky. The sargassum was aweful and stinky. The beach snack shack was swarming with birds and Coati that would jump on tables and steal food. Yikes. The construction next door was loud and relentless. Construction all over resort and sister resort. Booked because reviews said not a party resort. Not true. Screaming drunk young party en nearly every pool by 2pm. Drunk arguing and crying in the halls by midnight. It’s too bad. The staff and hotel is lovely.
