Horrible experience. We went there in Dec 2025 after their renovation. The decor and design of this resort is very nice. It is also very big with too many pools especially for kids. But the rest is horrible. The safe in our room didn't work and was replaced after 2 days. The jacuzzi in the bedroom had no cover for the suction hole so it sucked my little baby in caused some injuries and marks on her skin. Worst of all, we upgraded our room to a family suite ocean view, but that was not ocean view. It was garden view and they did nothing after many complaints. Restaurants in the resort are mostly bad. Never order steak. Tough and badly coocked. I could barely find something to eat in the buffet, mostly recycled food from days ago with little variety. The beach is ok staff are super nice and friendly but management is horrible. Compared to other resorts I have been especially Punta Cana, the entertainment was below mediocre. Overall, it's not worth it at all.

What an amazing holiday at Royalton Cancun! The food was absolutely outstanding—Hunter’s Steakhouse was a real highlight. As repeat visitors, we never tire of the incredible quality. The weather, the views, the cocktails… everything was perfect. If we had one small gripe, it would be the cost we paid through TUI for the “butler service.” In reality, this amounted to joining a WhatsApp group to arrange dinner reservations and similar requests, plus access to a private dining area in the restaurant. Honestly, it felt like we were just messaging the front desk, which made the price hard to justify. That said, our room with the whirlpool jacuzzi bath was gorgeous, and overall, this remains a fantastic holiday destination.

Went a few weeks ago and they informed us WHEN WE GOT THERE that they were closing down in 3 weeks so things may be under construction. They weren't kidding. They didnt close any of the pools down but were doing the work right there. Chipping cement block walls right off into the pools people were swimming in. They even dropped a dirty greasy sponge in the pool right in front of us. It would have been nice to know at booking that there would be "some" construction. But nope. Then the smell. It smelled like a musty cigar all over. It was intense. Especially when you went to the buffet. It took me 3 times of washing my clothes when I get home to get the smell out. The food. Oh man the food, bland. No seasonings what so ever. We went to the steak house one night and the steak tasted like they boiled it. Just nasty. The only thing that was good was the waffles at the buffet in the mornings. The service. Bad. Simple as that. The bartenders staff was very rude and deliberately didnt make eye contact so they didnt have to make drinks. They also refused to make any shots other than straight up ones. They said they "weren't allowed". I've never been to an all inclusive that doesn't make shots. Then when you tried asking the bar staff to make a drink they walked away half way through your order and made pretty much whatever they wanted that was close enough. The servers and hosts at the restaurants were un accommodating as well. We had a party of 7 and the only place that would let us eat together was at the buffet. Other days we had to sit separately and out tables were never close to each other even though we repeatedly asked to sit next to each other. Anything we asked for seemed like a huge inconvenience. I could go on and on about my stay. But I won't waste anymore of your time. Just as I wouldn't waste your time or money on this resort. There are WAY better ones in the area.

Not luxurious at all. When we arrived at our room, we immediately noticed the run-down condition of it. There were mosquitoes flying around everywhere inside our room, and 3 dead ones in the tub. The fridge didn’t work, and after complaining several times and the staff telling us they replaced it (they didn’t), we resorted to using our friends’ fridge for our baby formula. The staff knew we had a baby yet put us in a room right next to the loud music area of the resort. My baby ended up getting bitten by a million mosquitoes, and we had to buy bug spray from the gift shop which was $26!!!!! Guest services refused to compensate us for that. They “fumigated” our room (we could not enter for 2 hours) yet the mosquitoes remained. Ordered room service 3 times. First time was fine, second time never came, third time came after an hour and the food was laughably bad. The resort is supposed to have all these bars and restaurants but most of the bars are closed and the restaurants require reservations well in advance. The portions are also really small, like tapas. The buffet was huge but not the quality you would expect. The pools were nice, but the beach was full of seaweed and there were some structures under construction which took away from the vibe. The beach chairs were all really close together and the whole beach area felt like an afterthought. The beach bar ran out of beer and ice. The drinks were also really weak. My friends and I “drank the rainbow” meaning we had a cocktail for every color of the rainbow. 6 cocktails. We were barely buzzed. The pool had a snack window and we got the most outrageously leathery hot dogs I’ve ever seen. The only positive thing about this resort was how hilariously terrible everything was. If you like to laugh and hate luxury, you should definitely come here.

I recently stayed at Royalton Riviera Cancun and overall had a pleasant getaway. The highlight for me was definitely the food the restaurants served up tasty meals with a great selection, and dining was something I truly looked forward to each day. The rooms had a cozy charm, though they could use a little sprucing up to match the beautiful surroundings. The outdoor pools and grounds felt like they’d seen better days, and I think a little extra care there would go a long way in making the whole resort feel more vibrant and inviting. Service at Nibles was on the slower side, which gave things a more laid-back pace than expected. But the staff was kind, and the atmosphere stayed relaxed throughout our stay. All in all, the resort has lovely potential, and with a few refreshes here and there, I can see it becoming a truly special place. If you’re looking to unwind and enjoy some fantastic food, it’s worth considering!
