We had an amazing stay at Royalton Hideaway, and the service truly made the trip. As a Marriott member, we had 24-hour access to a private concierge, Francisco, and he was fantastic. Extremely responsive and reliable, he handled everything we asked for and more. He coordinated two separate room decorations for special occasions (sending photos to confirm), and even secured a birthday dinner reservation after we were initially told it couldn’t be done. Friendly, fun, and professional from start to finish. Hector, the pool manager, was also excellent. He helped us secure chairs each day, checked in frequently when we had a cabana, and made sure we were taken care of and having fun. Great personality and genuinely welcoming. Food was ok. It's resort food so I don't have the highest expectations. Room service took awhile, which is normal, however, some of our orders were wrong. For one order, they were supposed to have brought us the items they forget and never did. Overall, the resort is beautiful, but the staff is what made it memorable.

This hotel promotes itself as a five-star luxury resort, but the experience is far from five stars. The buildings and installations look impressive, but the service and overall quality do not match the high price at all. Check-in takes an extremely long time, and the organization feels chaotic. During our stay, the system automatically locked many guests — including us — out of our rooms due to a “system error.” While mistakes can happen, what was frustrating was the lack of real support. When something goes wrong, staff often respond with “yes, yes, we will take care of it,” but nothing actually happens. There is no urgency, no ownership, and no real problem-solving attitude. The food quality is another disappointment. While it is edible, it is not what you expect for the amount of money you pay. Restaurants close early, and there are gaps during the day where proper food is simply not available unless you walk across the entire resort. In addition, you can only reserve restaurants once you are physically at the hotel, and many are fully booked for days — even when you can clearly see empty tables in the evening. The resort operates in strict “levels.” Even after paying a very high rate, you are treated as a lower-tier guest unless you upgrade to premium. Many areas and services are restricted, which makes you feel like you cannot fully use the hotel you already paid so much for. Be especially careful with transportation. If you order an Uber or an external taxi, they will not allow it to enter the hotel grounds. You are essentially forced to use the hotel’s taxis at extremely high prices. Because many guests face the same issue, taxi availability becomes limited — and we almost missed our flight because of this mismanagement. There was no real support or solution offered. To make matters worse, some of the pools had visible algae, which is unacceptable for a resort at this level. Overall, this hotel is not worth the money. The price suggests luxury, but the service, food quality, and organization do not reflect that standard. I would not recommend staying here.

Our first time in hotel and for sure will not come to it again. We were Diamond Club with a swim out. Unfortunately there is only a third of the swim out that are in the sun, so if you're not lucky and like cold water you're going to love it. The only advantage is to be on ground floor and to have long chair on the terrasse. The chair availability is kind of pathetic as it comes to the first come first serve, but the pool guard can remove them if they think you've been away for too long, so it was always a stress ( we don't need that on vacation) to know if we'll have our chair when we come back to them, and even then maybe there be any available for you. On one morning we took long chair that weren't identified as reserved and they made us remove our towels and had no other chair to replace them with. There is multiple (too many) Bali bed that you need to pay around 180US$ to get access to them, ok it comes with a bottle of champagne but who cares about alcool which is freely available. Please give us enough chairs for what we paid for, tranquility. The restaurants are generally good, I would not recommend the brisket though, it's dried and hard to masticate. The beach is small and ok. Overall kind of mid. The services that we had at Planet Hollywood Cancun what was way better.

Had the best week with friends at the Royalton. So many fun activities like yoga, volleyball, bingo, stretching on the beach and Guacamole classes keep you busy during the day in between beach and pool time. Evening entertainment was fun and entertaining. (I loved the silent disco night) as well as all the other shows. We stayed 7 days and were able to get 5 reservations for à la carte dining. Taj, Caribbean, zen, zen tapinaki and Hunters! Every dinner was so good with great service. Armando and Jerardi at zen we so attentive and made our experience there amazing! The entertainment team are great at keeping people having fun!

Note for this review: This review is based on the price we paid, which I think is somewhat lower than is typically offered. At the rates I'm seeing today I might go one star lower. We paid 3500USD for a Diamond Club Presidential Suite. The Good: 1. The diamond club checkin and checkout process were incredibly smooth. We were checked in within 25 minutes while sitting in a nice comfortable lounge. 2. The architecture and landscaping are incredible. Tons of great spots to walk, sit down and watch the sunrise, etc. 3. The resort is sprawling and doesn't feel crowded. We were there at full capacity and often had pools to ourselves, bar lines were short, etc. 4. It's very clean, both room cleaning, public bathrooms, and common areas were all pretty much spotless. 5. Every staff member was super friendly and helpful 6. The buffet food is very good and varied from day to day, much better than I'd expect from a buffet. 7. The resort gym was very good. Better than a lot of commercial gyms I've been to. 8. The presidential suite was huge and the beds, sheets, pillows, etc. were very comfortable. The Bad: 1. A la carte restaurant food is very inconsistent. While some of it was great (especially the Mexican dishes), other items were quite bland. I'd say about 30% of dishes were great, 70% were a bit dissapointing. 2. There is no lunch available until Noon and no Dinner available until 6, this is tough with a toddler. 3. The apps had the wrong opening and closing times for restaurants, and staff indicated it's been that way for quite a while 4. The room maintenance is quite poor. There were missing tiles on the walls, the roof was peeling off, the fridge was covered in dents, the sinks were loose, and a number of other relatively minor problems. 5. Tap water had an odd sulfury smell. I think most of the variance you see in food reviews depends on what type of food the reviewer prefers. Some of the cuisines (Mexican especially) were pretty consistently good, others (any American style beef product) were quite poor. Overall, I'd happily go back if we see a price this good again, I don't think I'd go back at full price.
