The staff were the highlight of our stay. Everyone was genuinely warm, welcoming, and provided the authentic Sri Lankan hospitality that made us feel well looked after. The buffet dining experience, however, was quite average. Dinner was ordinary, and there weren’t even any fresh juice options available. Breakfast was also average and could benefit from a wider variety. On the positive side, the à la carte menu was excellent. We especially loved the Dolphin Kottu—it was delicious and one of the best meals we had during our stay. Overall, the warm hospitality and great à la carte food were memorable, but the buffet could be improved to better match the rest of the experience.

Our stay at Shangri-La Hambantota was absolutely fantastic and one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. The resort itself is stunning, with beautiful grounds, three swimming pools, and an excellent kids' play area that kept our children entertained throughout our stay. The food was outstanding, with a great variety and consistently delicious quality. Our room was spacious and featured a huge balcony. Although part of the sea view was blocked by a coconut tree, it didn't take away from our overall experience because the room itself was beautiful and the service was exceptional. We already knew before booking that the beach here isn't suitable for swimming, so that wasn't a disappointment for us. Instead, we thoroughly enjoyed the resort's facilities and relaxed atmosphere. One of the highlights was booking a Yala National Park safari through the hotel. The hotel thoughtfully packed breakfast and snacks for our early morning departure, which was a lovely touch. We were also incredibly lucky to spot a leopard during the safari, making it an unforgettable experience. Having previously travelled to Thailand and Malaysia, I can honestly say that Sri Lanka deserves far more recognition. The warmth and hospitality of the Sri Lankan people are truly exceptional. Almost everyone speaks and understands English well, making communication effortless. We also found the food to be even better than expected, and overall the country offered excellent value for money compared with many other popular tourist destinations. Overall, Shangri-La Hambantota provided an outstanding experience with wonderful hospitality, great facilities, excellent food, and memorable experiences. We would happily return and highly recommend it to families as well as couples looking for a relaxing getaway.

The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The food was delicious with a great variety of local and international dishes. The swimming pools, beach access, and overall facilities were excellent and well maintained. Every detail reflected true 5-star hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway in Sri Lanka. I can’t wait to visit again!

It is an ideal spot to unwind, especially in the evening, as it provides a perfect vantage point to watch the sunset over the beach—one of the most memorable aspects of the resort. Dining at the resort was also a pleasant experience. The food was delicious, with a variety of options available, and the dining areas were well organized. The staff deserve special mention for their professionalism and attentiveness, ensuring guests are handled in a comfortable and welcoming manner throughout their stay. The golf course was well maintained and appealing, particularly for golf enthusiasts. In addition to golf, the resort offers a range of recreational activities such as 8-ball pool and table tennis. For rugby enthusiasts, the sports and recreational team is readily available to provide equipment like rugby balls, allowing guests to fully enjoy their leisure time on the premises. While certain areas of the property appeared slightly under maintained, it did not significantly detract from the overall experience. The resort still provides a peaceful and pleasant environment, making it a suitable destination for both local and international tourists seeking a relaxing getaway.
