One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The room was beautiful with an amazing view of Valletta. The food was amazing and even catered for my partners restrictive diet. All the staff are polite and attentive and the gym is extremely well equipped. The manta pool has a great vibe and overall we found our stay to be faultless. Highly recommend for anyone staying in Sliema.

Very disappointing experience. This hotel is definitely not a 5-star hotel – I would rate it as a 3-star at best. The rooms are very dark and much smaller than they appear in the photos. The pictures on the website do not accurately reflect the actual condition of the hotel or the rooms. The pool is shared with the restaurant below the hotel, and there are restrictions on when hotel guests can use it, which was never made clear beforehand. Most of the staff were unfriendly and not helpful. Overall, the standard is far below what you would expect from a luxury hotel. If this were a 2- or 3-star hotel at half the price, it might be acceptable. But for the price charged and the advertised 5-star standard, it was a huge disappointment. I also don’t understand the very high ratings on Booking.com, because my experience was completely different. Based on my stay, I cannot understand how this hotel has received such positive reviews. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a genuine 5-star experience.

Highly Disappointing Stay – Unprofessional Staff, Biased Service & Poor Management For a property under the Barceló brand, our experience at Barceló Fortina Malta was immensely disappointing. The service quality and management standard fall far short of expectations. It barely deserves 2 stars. * Unprofessional & Biased Staff: The staff lack fundamental professionalism and basic hospitality standards. What troubled us most was the subtle yet noticeable difference in how certain staff members treated different guests. There was a distinct lack of warmth, respect, and fairness, making us feel unwelcomed. * Incompetent Management: When issues were brought to the attention of the management team, their response was completely inadequate. They displayed no real willingness to resolve the situation nor did they take effective action. The lack of accountability and customer care from management was frustrating. * Conclusion: No matter how the property looks on paper, poor service and weak management completely ruin the experience. Absolutely not recommended. Management urgently needs to review staff training and standard of treatment towards all guests!

Fabulous hotel, wonderfully professional and friendly service and large modern rooms with all the design functions expected in a top range hotel .Its in a cracking location looking over the harbour to Valletta and its only a 5min walk for the Sliema to Valletta ferry and the Sliema promenade is full of top restaurants and bars. Our balcony was a great place for a coffee in the morning with a view of the boats passing by in the harbour and the joggers and walkers on the promenade. The hotel is only a few years old so everything feels new from the gym and spa to the digital light buttons in the room , the bed was massive and very comfortable and we appreciated the small fridge and the Nespresso machine with pods that get refreshed like the room every day , great hotel one of the best we've been in and very recommended.

Really enjoyed stay in Barcelo hotel in Sliema. Room was spacious and view of Valletta wonderful to enjoy. Breakfast buffet - one of the best on the island, with lots of fresh and healthy options too. Location wise also very good in central part of Malta, just a walk away from Sliema Ferries and multitude of restaurants / cafes in the area. Staff was always attentive and willing to help. We will be happy to come back one day.
