Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside

We loved the resort and the amenities! The room is spotless and the maid service was excellent. Plenty of room and towels . T.V was awesome. The pool ranks among some of the best at Disney. It’s also great having access to the sister resort, French Quarter. The food court is very nice with plenty of choices. Plenty of bus stops. Great stay.

Paid for the preferred room & its a definitely worth it. The room had been refurbished & it was great. Love all of the Tiana theming, the sliding door, & the light/airy room. Grounds were immaculate & we felt transported every time we stepped out. The short walk to the front was just what these 50 somethings needed. Pool was so much fun & relaxing. Dined at Boatwrights, River Roost, & the food court. Excellent service everywhere! The Boatwright's chef stopped by our table & talked with us. Was a great moment.

I love Disney. Always will. But Riverside was more disappointing than I expected. It’s a pretty resort, but so easy to get lost in. The staff were incredible though. Very kind and helpful but overall our stay wasn’t magical. The room itself was very small for a 5th sleeper and the bath/shower combo constantly leaked all over the floor. The sinks leaked too and our stuff got soaked all the time. The resort is under renovation but it didn’t offset anything on the price of the room. It was just not what I expected for the price we paid and nothing was offered to make it better.

The resort is beautiful and peaceful, with plenty to see while walking through the different areas. We stayed in Building 36, which was a long way from the lobby and restaurants, and our room was one of those due to be refurbished. My grandson loved the pull-down bed with the alligator mural. I reserved a scooter in advance, and it was ready and fully charged when we arrived. Our second-floor room was near ongoing construction, so it was noisy at times, but we were at the parks most of the day. Since there was no elevator or accessible outdoor outlet, I had to leave the scooter near the first-floor stairs and later take it to hotel services for overnight charging. The staff charged it, but I was disappointed that the help I requested never came and that I had to walk to retrieve it the next morning. The shuttle buses arrived quickly, and the drivers handled the scooter safely while allowing my group to board with me. Breakfast choices were limited and expensive, and I would have preferred real eggs. Refillable cups cost a little over $22 and can only be used at the resort, not in the parks. Boatwright’s Restaurant generally requires reservations, although arriving before it opens may give you a chance of being seated without one. It was also expensive, with entrées averaging about $35, and the food was average. Overall, despite a few inconveniences, my family and I had a great time. The 5-stars for the location are based on the Port Orleans resort and not on the location of our room. That would be 2-stars.

We stayed in building 28 in alligator bayou. It was less than a 5 minute walk to both the main building with the restaurants and shops and bus depot as well as to the west bus depot. The room was nice, but maybe a little too small for the 4 of us. A corner room would’ve been better. Pillows could use a major upgrade. It would’ve been nice if the hotel was smoke free or if there were smoking free areas as many of the guests in rooms around us were smoking which was unpleasant. Hotel staff was friendly and knowledgeable but no one offered to assist with luggage upon check in. Food at the food court was good and made for a convenient option. Ate at boatwrights one night and food was good there too minus the “new” Mac and cheese. Good amenities and options at the resort with quick boat service to French quarter and Disney springs. Quick bus ride to Magic kingdom and Epcot as well. Would consider staying there again.
