Within minutes of arriving, staff was harassing us to visit their sister resort for a “special breakfast” and throwing coupons at us if we agreed to go. It seemed fishy so we turned it down. We literally JUST arrived and got off a long flight. Later, after my husband and I had some drinks, staff hunted us down and again tried bribing us into this breakfast. At that point we said maybe, but the next morning, staff found us again and asked “why didn’t you come to the special breakfast?! We were waiting for you!” And we felt uncomfortable. Hours later, staff AGAIN found us and chased us down about signing up for the breakfast. It honestly went on the entire trip. Extremely offputting. Communication wasn’t great- we split our reservation with Hyatt points and cash, and staff couldn’t figure it out upon check-in despite us trying to explain. So they ended up calling us halfway through our trip and thought we were supposed to check out, and started calling our phone. We had to run over to the front desk to sort it out. We had to run back to our room to get our passports and re-check-in, it was all very silly and should’ve been handled upon check-in. Other than that - the food was decent, 7/10 most days. The Italian and Asian restaurants were the best. Drink service by the pool was pretty good, it’s nice to have waiters coming around to your chairs. Wish more spots were open for lunch, options are limited around that time of day. Beach was pretty nasty but the resort had a truck going all day to scoop up the sargassum - But I will say, neighboring resorts seemed to have much cleaner beaches than ours - do they have a better system/barrier? Our beach was much more soiled/stinky than theirs. We walked down the beach and had a better time off our resort. The resort itself is clearly older but it’s actually pretty well maintained. Our room was making strange noises from the drains at night, but cosmetically it’s not too bad. Spa was amazing and I highly recommend doing a treatment there and using the included amenities- so worth it! Unsure if we would return but the experience overall was pretty decent for the price.

All of the staff here were amazing and incredibly attentive. We came with a large group for our wedding. Many staff members made our stay very special. Jennifer and Juan Carlos from the wedding department made our special day perfect and they made it come together so easily. Oliver and Viví from the entertainment team made our pool days so much more fun and my group had a great time doing a salsa dancing lesson with them. Glever in the lobby bar was an amazing bartender and my party was excited to be served by him in the lobby each night. Every staff member knew our names and made our experience so amazing.

I had a great stay at Dreams Riviera Cancun. The food and drinks are good. The resort is beautiful and well kept. The staff were very kind and attentive. One of the highlights of my trip was the cats around the property. They brought me so much joy, and I even bonded with other guests over our shared love for them, which made the experience feel extra special. I hope the resort continues to care for them, as they truly add something meaningful to the stay. I would definitely come back!

We recently spent a week at Dreams Riviera Cancun as part of our eight-week Cancun resort research project, and it quickly became one of our favorite Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts. The two biggest reasons were the outstanding food and the exceptional staff. Antonio and his food and beverage team consistently delivered some of the best meals we experienced during our two months in Cancun. Portofino and El Patio were our favorite restaurants, and Armando and Chef Eddy made every meal at El Patio a memorable one. Our room was spacious, modern, and extremely comfortable. We especially appreciated the thoughtful layout, with the beds facing the balcony instead of a wall, allowing us to wake up each morning overlooking the beautiful tropical grounds. If your budget allows, we highly recommend booking one of the ground-floor rooms with a private plunge pool. The Fourth of July celebration was another highlight of our stay. The resort put together an incredible poolside barbecue with paella, steak, chicken, fresh coconuts, a margarita bar, followed by evening entertainment, a fire show, and fireworks. It was one of the most generous holiday celebrations we have experienced at an all-inclusive resort. A special thank you to the E Team, Antonio for his leadership, Armando and Chef Eddy at El Patio for consistently outstanding meals, and the amazing Coco Café team, who somehow kept the coffee and pastries flowing quickly no matter how long the line became. We also appreciated the countless employees who worked tirelessly every day maintaining the beautiful grounds and keeping the resort looking immaculate. No resort is perfect. We didn't feel the Preferred Club upgrade offered enough value for the additional cost, and unfortunately the sargassum kept us out of the ocean during our stay, but neither issue took away from an otherwise wonderful vacation. Would we return? Absolutely. Dreams Riviera Cancun is a beautiful, well-managed resort with exceptional food, comfortable rooms, and a team of employees who truly care about their guests. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not a 5-Star Experience We chose this resort for a family vacation expecting the level of service and quality associated with a luxury, family-friendly property. Unfortunately, it fell well short. The biggest issue was not the maintenance problems themselves, but how they were handled. From concerns about our ocean-view room, to cleanliness issues, to maintenance problems in both rooms we occupied, staff were quick to apologize but slow to act. Managers promised follow-up that never happened, and most interactions felt dismissive rather than solution-oriented. The resort also showed signs of poor upkeep, including cleanliness concerns in guest rooms and pool areas. Restaurant offerings often differed from what was advertised, and food quality was average at best. Problems can happen anywhere, but a true 5-star resort is defined by its service and ability to resolve issues. Throughout our stay, we never felt that our concerns were taken seriously or that anyone was genuinely invested in improving our experience. Based on our experience, this property does not currently meet the standards I would expect from a 5-star resort or the Hyatt brand.
