Very nice experience overall. Favourite part was the dining options. High quality food, very broad selection at buffet and plenty of restaurants and kitchens to choose from. Reservations not possible, but they use a buzzer, so you could hang out anywhere in the hotel, while waiting for the table to be guaranteed ready when it paged. If you don't want to wait, the 24/7 all-included in-room dining had a broad selection, though we did not use this. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Most staff were generally friendly and helpful. Preferred Club lounge was a nice place to cool down and enjoy a drink and snack, as well as having the separate concierge desk there. The Preferred Club adults only pool was quiet and relaxing (but closes early) compared to the very active main pool. Water slides were fun, but I did cut my elbow on one of them, in less than four runs. As with most hotels in the Riviera Maya, the Sargassum is there, but not nearly as bothersome as in other places, as this was regularly cleaned. Would generally recommend, especially for foodies.

Just spent an amazing 4 nights at this resort- wish it had been all 5 nights but we originally booked a different Dreams resort nearby and asked to be moved due to construction and facility closures. This was our first experience at an all-inclusive resort and our first trip to Mexico (other than cruise ports), and I would rebook Sapphire in the future! Here are some things that we really loved about the resort: - BEAUTIFUL facilities! The entire lobby space and walkways to restaurants are open air, soaring thatched-roofs, and water features everywhere, giving you a true experience like nothing else. And everything is very well-kept- they're constantly cleaning and performing maintenance (touch-up paint, trimming plants, etc.). We stayed in the "new" Club-level building, which was great being so close to everything plus access to a gorgeous rooftop pool/bar and restaurant. Our beds were very comfortable with an abundance of pillows and even my husband, who has chronic back problems, slept comfortably. The main pool was also HUMONGOUS and had several different areas to hang out in if you wanted to be involved in the activities or not. They even have very friendly falconer with a trained hawk to keep the birds from overwhelming and messing up the area! - AMAZING staff! First off, the activities staff were fantastic- I can't remember all their names but Hazley, Mara, Donny, David, Michele, and ESPECIALLY Sergio were outgoing, talkative, had boundless energy, and did such a great job of making sure our teenage boy felt included- they even got him to DANCE IN PUBLIC! I received a smile and greeting from every staff member that I passed, the servers in the restaurant were friendly and met our every need, and even maintenance responded quickly and multiple times to repair our AC/thermostat. - GREAT activities! Our son's favorite was the main pool area during the afternoon, where he participated in volleyball, water polo, and basketball in the pool, plus the crazy games and even flag football on the beach. I also enjoyed the evening shows- the magician was fantastic and the roller skating show (more acrobatics than anything, a little cheesy but so cool) is not to be missed! I also got to participate in group fitness like aquaerobics and stretching, as well as dancing in the sports bar at night. There are always people hanging around the billiards and ping pong tables, too, especially in the evenings. - And if you're looking, there IS a basketball court (two goals on the tennis court)- not listed on their website- plus brand new pickleball courts. Here's the only (vaguely) negative things we experienced: - On the last day, our son cut his foot on a tile while playing pool basketball- not too deep but enough that he couldn't swim anymore and it was uncomfortable. Apparently another man told us the same has happened to him the day before, and then our son's new friend messaged him that he cut his in the same spot the next day after we left. We all reported the issue, although I'm sure trying to fix a tile on the bottom of the pool during such a busy time is difficult. - No bathrooms close to pool- have to get out and walk through the main lobby. As dry as the floor seemed in that bathroom, I assume a lot of people are just peeing in the pool. - The pool chair reservation game is strong! I'm an early riser, so I would go down around 8am and grab us 3 chairs in the shade, and at least one of us was there throughout the morning, all of us in the afternoon. It was really annoying when the family next to us claimed 6 chairs in the shade in a prime location (for 4 of them- two for their "stuff") and then hardly used them all day (I saw the mom reading her book in the lobby at one point). But I also understand how hard it is for the staff to enforce the no reserving rule. Unfortunately, it's up to individuals to act courteously and responsibly, which is hit or miss.

We had a lovely week at Dreams Sapphire! The staff were excellent very pleasant, welcoming, and always happy to help. The pool area was amazing, although the music selection could have been a little better. The beach was unfortunately affected by a large amount of seaweed due to the season, which is obviously out of the resort’s control. You could smell it from a distance at times, but the staff did work hard to clean it every morning. Because of this, the water also wasn’t as clear as expected. The food and restaurants were decent overall nothing spectacular, but still enjoyable. This resort is definitely very family-friendly, which is great if that’s what you’re looking for. My only real complaint was that our room wasn’t cleaned during our stay, and sadly we noticed a few critters coming from the drain. Overall, despite a few issues, we still had a great week and enjoyed our stay.

If your goal is to venture out and explore the surrounding cities, the transit and taxi costs can add up quickly and make the trip quite expensive. ​However, if you are looking for a true resort experience where you drop your bags and never leave the property, this place is an absolute 5 out of 5. ​What stands out: ​Cleanliness: The entire property is immaculate. Common areas, pools, and rooms are exceptionally well maintained. ​Design: The aesthetic is sleek, modern, and very up to date. It has a great atmosphere. ​Service: The staff is attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. ​If you want a self contained getaway to just relax and unwind onsite, book it without hesitation. Just budget a bit extra for transportation if you plan on doing a lot of outside sightseeing.

We stayed here on our honeymoon and overall had a really good time. We ended up getting the perfered room and package and it was worth the extra cost. The rooms was updated and clean. Service was good and food was great even though some of the portions were a little small. The only things I disliked about it was someone the restaurants didn't have AC or atheist it wouldn't keep the room cool enough so you were very hot while easting and the desserts were not very good. Other then that everything was great.
