Overall I would recommend this resort as a first resort. We have stayed in Cancun/Riviera maya 4-5 times. We have stayed at all inclusive in Belize and DR. My biggest complaint here is the service. More often than not you had to seek out staff or ask staff when you wanted/needed something. We usually book preferred club at secrets resorts and have always been satisfied. Even cheaper resorts have had better service. To begin our first day we received a less than ideal welcoming. The doorsman even asked if I was an Uber driver… I get I’m Hispanic and rented a car… But dang…. This happened a few times 🥴. The guy who took our bags was very nice and helpful. We arrived early and got lunch at the kitchen table. We got some cold hard ribs… luckily this was the worst food we got there. Overall, I was highly pleased with dinner and breakfast. We did get good service from Adolfo, Seth, German, and a few others that I forgot to write down their name. The beach was full of sargassum the first 3 days. Luckily the 4th day winds changed and it was nice. I get nothing they can do but this was January so I can only imagine the summer months. Room service was good even though it took 40 minutes to get it. Very pleased with the room amenities and housekeeping. Alcoholic Drinks were good not great. Coffee house was great. Wish it was 24/7 like some other resorts. Also the excellence app sucks. They should add QR codes to the tables that direct you to the menus. Overall a good resort but service/friendliness can be better. I’d recommend it as a good first resort.

The staff are incredibly attentive to their guests here. We are celebrating a birthday on this trip and the guests have been so happy to help us celebrate. Doing everything they can to make the birthday girl in my group feel extra happy. Now, the building is over 20 years old, so some parts are noticeable if you have an eye for it. It's not a negative as they do an incredible job maintaining the property. The property just wasn't built yesterday. We tried the Korean BBQ at Spice. Concepcion was incredible on the grill. A very interesting person to chat with and an absolute asset to this resort. He is a master at his brand. We loved having access to the Excellence Club Lounge for drinks and snacks. The smoked tequila and go-berry were favorites in my group. I also tried to Tomahawk at the Magna (which requires Excellence Club membership). It was well worth the little extra for this club access. It also give you a special check-in and check-out desk from everyone else, exclusive access to two pools, another poolside bar called Cielo and a private beach. Our housekeeper lady was one of the employees who stood out in our book. She'd always have a clean glass and cold water bottle next to the bedside when we got back from drinking each evening. She also collected up the birthday balloons from around the room and attempted to replace the dead ones with live ones to keep it all looking presentable. Remote and chocolate was always waiting on the bed also. You come back from eating and drinking and life here requires minimal effort from you to get to relaxing. My only tip is I whish I had brought a back scratcher to relieve the itch from all the sun I got. Bring many bottles of sun block per person and avoid having to buy more from the gift shop.

I have been coming to Excellence properties for the past 16 years. My first to Excellence was at Riviera Maya. My husband and I visited in December 2025. While the resort and service are still fantastic. The food and drinks have gone down hill. Limited menus, bland foods, everything is very one dimentional nothing special about the food anymore. You can't even get a Victoria without leaving the resort anymore. Additionally, when we booked EC swim-up we were facing a non-EC pool. However, you do not get beverage service or EC service like at the EC pools when facing a non-EC pool, at least we did not. We had to ask for service, including turn down and morning bed making. For the price and quality of food, Excellence just does not hit the mark anymore. I do not think we will be returning until they fix their food and drinks menus. Cookie cutter menus are not the answer, what a shame. Side note: staff are still amazing! A BIG shout out to Mario and Yessenia. They made our stay great!!!

Just finishing up our three night stay in the Excellence Club Swim Up Ocean View Suite. Moises our pool waiter has been excellent. He's helped make this trip an absolute pleasure. Thank you very much my friend. The food, drinks and views at this place are heavenly. Staff has been a joy, and the resort is in PRISTINE condition. We will be back, SOON. Gracias Moises!

We were looking for an established all-inclusive resort with beautifully lush, walkable grounds, endless meandering pools, attentive service, plenty of tasty food options, and a wide, sandy beach, all within 25 minutes of the airport. The ERC delivered and made my birthday getaway memorable. Don’t know what to order at the restaurant? Ask your server. Marco at Basmati. Eli at Agave. Adolfo at Chez. All made the meals great with food recommendations and special touches. Don’t miss out on the gem that’s not included: the Chocolate shop. Visit Kakao after dinner for some tasty samples and leave with artisan chocolates from different regions. We loved the resort's compact, colonial-style design. Arches. Columns. Stained-glass. Thatched roofs. While some may call it “dated,” it's just different from all the new mega resorts built with the same slatted wood, braided light fixtures, and sterile feel. Thanks to Lucia, Itamar, and Cici for taking care of the beach cabana and providing great pool service. Eduardo for the foot massage on the beach. My bride never likes people touching her feet, and she said it was outstanding! One last thing, the beach is wide, soft, sandy, and clean, but if you’re an ocean swimmer rather than just a sunbather, you may want to consider somewhere else. We weighed this before booking. Visiting the ERC? Smile! Have fun! Be Kind! You’re on vacation!
